@Winter-Rose Ha, I can’t say it is particularly encouraging since I have absolutely NO IDEA what I want to do. XD But I read your blog post on it the other day and I found it super encouraging. My mom and I have already talked about the possibility of taking a gap year until I know what I’d like to do because it sounds as if my situation going…[Read more]

@emma-flournoy Usually just my favorite pieces from others. 😀 I actually don’t have any completed project of my own to record yet, but I definitely plan to record them once I have them. 😅 I’ve even recorded KP stuff that I love so I can share it with my family.
Good, good. 😛 What’ve you been reading lately? I’m doing Mere Christianity by C.…[Read more]

@Jenwriter17 Alrighty, book recommendations coming your way. 😛
– The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins)
– Divergent (Veronica Roth)These trilogies are both fairly well known. They’re not favourites of mine, and some of the content is a bit iffy, but they’re good for researching the genre.
– Out of Time (Nadine Brandes)
– The Lunar Chronicles…[Read more] -

ooh, this is a cool idea. Tough question, too, so let’s see if I can explain my view on it.
In truth, I think all you really need to do is look at the Bible–specifically, the Old Testament. Many books in the Old Testament deal with false gods, idolatry, etc, but all for the purpose of showing the tension between God’s chosen people, the…[Read more]

@warrioroftherealm No, I don’t think that’s too cliche, although its definitely been used before.
It’s a great way to quickly and accurately send a message (from a relatively short distance). A funny way to subvert that would be to have the person shooting the bow be a horrible shot, and miss, and then either have to walk over to the arrow and…[Read more]

LivGiordano replied to the topic How do we define "worth" when there is no actual God figure in the story? in the forum Mission, Calling & Ethics 8 years, 8 months ago
@jenwriter17 Thank you! I meant to tell you that I found it before. 😉 It was actually published here on KP a while ago, I think. And it’s really helpful. I just reread it. There’s so much to learn.

@that_writer_girl_99 Kind of, I guess. *face desks* Actually, tbh, no. Not really. I’m still figuring it out. But more, what I’m wrestling through now, is actually showing the theme is a way that’s not preachy. I’ve decided not to have God actually in the story, but to try to portray it as a reflection of his glory. This is tough. XD But I’m…[Read more]

I have a girl that needs to be drawn.
Precium, or just Cium
four years old, chubby round face, bright smile with on dimple, green eyes, wild wispy curly golden blonde hair that frames her face. a plain dress that reaches just below her knees and a woolen cloak that is about an inch longer with a hood usually off.
shy, but brave and kind. later…[Read more]

@rochellaine They’re not irrelevant, but having things about his street life pop up in his mind mostly when things in the scenes remind him of that life, and only things relevant to that moment, would help to organize his narration more.
I think readers will learn about why he acts the way he does simply by learning about what kind of person he…[Read more]

@alia Oooh. This is a really cool question.
There are a lot of approaches you could take with this. Most importantly, I think you need to think outside the box. Maybe that means reading more widely within the fantasy genre for inspiration. It definitely means asking yourself what if questions.
One suggestion is to make God an antagonist for a…[Read more]

So, I’m writing a book were the main theme is that the “gods” of the land and their priests are holding the people in bondage, but there is a small band of rebels fighting. I’m planning on bringing in the God figure (its a fantasy story), but I don’t know how to without it feeling forced
I’m finding a it lot easier to make cruel false gods than…[Read more]

Hey Jackson,
Off the top of my head, I can’t think of a movie in which something along those lines occurs, so I’m not sure if it’s cliche, exactly, nor am I sure that it’s at all practical–although, I don’t know what you’re writing this for, or the world it takes place in, so that’s not for me to say.
Short answer…no, in my opinion, it’s not cliche.
