Dante looked at Rory. Despite how clueless he was, he didn’t doubt that he would have been able to handle growing up like Dante did. He hesitated, then asked, “Do you want to run away? Your home sounds like it sucks, and it doesn’t seem like you’re fully away from it yet. I could help.”

“Great! Good for them, then,” Dante grumbled. There was a moment of silence as he glared at the ceiling. When he looked over and saw Rory’s melancholy face, he sighed.
“I… never really met my parents either,” he said quietly.

Dante covered his face with his hands. How clueless could this guy be? He tried to not sound condescending.

“No, it’s… it’s where you only share one parent. Like my sister and I. Same mom, different fathers.”

“Have you… never heard of half siblings? You know what, never mind. I was just curious.” He lied down as if to go back to sleep, but found that he couldn’t. He stared at the ceiling instead.

No, not right now, sorry. This was sort of a prize for a writing challenge from a couple months ago. I might set up paid commissions eventually, but I’m trying to stop drawing things for people for free since it wears me out a lot.
