As you know, I’m not a guy, but I do like to write guys and I have two brothers (technically three, but he doesn’t count)
Just as a tip in general, it helps to think about the roles God made a man or a woman to fill. Woman are the emotionally unstable mothers, while men are the factual, rational fathers who keep the wives from…[Read more]

Next chapter. You can all breath now (until you reach the end of this chapter of course). This covered less than what I was hoping to, there proved to be too much to go into one chapter, but that is all right. I will see if I can get Chapter the 13th – The Self-Proclaimed Guardian to you…[Read more]

I’m obviously not a guy, but my advice would be to find a happy medium between those two extremes. (Unless he actually would be on one end of the spectrum). Try to think of him as simply a character. Keep in mind that he’s a guy, but don’t get so caught up in that that you give him a reaction that isn’t consistent with his per…[Read more]

@linus-smallprint @ellette-giselle
This is a great topic! Maybe instead of just focusing on gender differences, it should extend to different personalities too? I for one would be interested to hear other people’s descriptions of how they process things and react to circumstances (and how it relates to their personality) even if they’re also…[Read more]

But Turin and Edwin died.
I’m just telling the story.
lol.
I knooow, I’m sorry for questioning the fabric of the story 😂😅 But I think we can all agree that these stories come from our minds, and sometimes we need to adjust our inventions. I’m not saying you have to change their deaths, I’m pointing out how I as the reader feel a…[Read more]

oh ok this sounds cool!
I think I’ll draw him as a prince, could you describe his hair and features a little more? I mean I can use creative liberties, but like how long is his hair?
Also, would you describe him as being a little bit rough around the edges prince or really trim and neat?
For instance, Aragorn is a king that…[Read more]

I do feel uncertain about killing off Edwin and Turin. I understand Edwin, but both guys? It feels like half the cast has died and there isn’t much left in terms of motivation for the reader.
Reading the earlier chapters, I expected Aaron and Turin to develop a friendship which would become a staple of the book until at least…[Read more]

I think this is working well. Aaron had already started down the path of doubt, and the death of his friend and the Prince is now sending him tumbling down it faster. But his faith is still there, and that is good because it always should be there even if it seems fragile in a sea of doubts. While he is angry at God, he still…[Read more]

As authors, we have characters who are both male and female, but sometimes it is hard to get into the heads of our characters who are the opposite gender from us. These characters sometimes turn out in very strange ways and we get Mary Sues or overly emotional guys – characters no one really likes. This forum is for guys and girls to ask each…[Read more]

I will go start a form for this discussion and tag you both, along with some other people. Feel free to tag anyone I miss to it.
Whaley:
So yeah XD In conclusion I think girls and guys are different mentally, but the line can be blurred depending on the individual.
And that is why answering this question is hard.

*Comes back to an interesting conversation*
Okay, I actually have input for this.
Linus:
I hear when girls are upset, you want to just simply talk about it and how you feel. When I rant about my problems, I am not looking for someone to sympathize with me (even if I think I am). I am looking for a solution.…

We do NOT want a solution. In fact, we often hate the idea of a solution because then we feel like you guys are just viewing us as a problem to be fixed.
This makes no sense to me.
Have you ever seen the video “It’s Not About The Nail.” ?
That was on my mind as I was typing up my response.
Yeah, that could work……. Do you think it…

So the emotions I see emerging the strongest from Aaron right now are stubbornness, jealousy, and frustration.
I should clarify, that these are more of the negative emotions. There will be grief in there as well.
Another thought. Different guys have different ways of expressing anger. Some punch things, some start accusing others…[Read more]

Hm…
Of course, every guy is different, so it is a little tricky to answer this question. I have thankfully never lost a friend or family member who is close to me, so I am not even entirely sure how I would respond, but I do have my guesses. I would likely be upset with what happened, but I am not a very emotional person. I…[Read more]
