Thanks, y’all. I’m thinking for my story I’m gonna have to write it mainly as one long story arc, but give each book a feeling of semi-completion.
@kate-flournoy @hope You two have thoughts on this, don’t you?

@daeus I’ve been stalking this topic for a while now and thought I’d jump in real quick 🙂 The cover is turning out amazing! Congrats!
Personally I really like the gold title with silver sub-title because it sets the title apart from the rest of the words on the front. But I can’t make up my mind weather I like Edwin’s name in gold or silver better. -

@audrey-caylin That’s great! I’m so glad you’re finding it helpful. 🙂 If you ever have any questions about applying the lessons to your novel, we’ll be around.

@northerner Absolutely. Just to clarify, you are talking about building an audience for your books, right? I thought possibly you might be asking about branding — like presenting a consistent impression of yourself in everything you do, which is kinda related, but much more of a specific topic.

@kate-flournoy @emma-flournoy @anyone-else Ok, here’s with all silver and here’s with a gold title. I’m feeling like I liked it better with the silver title and gold subtitle, but I don’t think that was quite right either. Thoughts?

Thanks @mark-kamibaya @jess @winter-rose I have read Katie’s article, by the way. That’s what made me decide to study this further.
So, I guess I should provide some further information. This trilogy will be pretty LOTResque. I mean, it’s epic fantasy with a lot of travel and a basically comparable story goal. Actually, I know LOTR was originally…[Read more]

Howdy folks,
As you may have heard, I got this weird idea into my head to write a fantasy novel. Now, as it turns out, I’m actually getting super excited about it and expect it will end up longer than my other books. Well, lucky me, I ended up hearing someone say that if you have a 150,000 word novel, you should split it up into three 50,000 word…[Read more]

@ethryndal So, Josiah will have the official answer on this, but I can’t see how it could possibly be any other way unless we deleted your account (which would be against our lifetime access policy)

@dragon-snapper Let me just clarify: Are you saying that whenever you tried to share a message in your story, it either seemed too simple and therefore cheesy or too pushy and therefore cheesy? Or am I misunderstanding?

@anna-brie You could view it with your brother. That’s standard practice, like buying a movie and watching it with your family. I’m guessing sharing it outside your family would be a copyright violation, but of course that’s not what you’re talking about here.

@sarah-h Enlightenment age, actually. I know what you mean though. He’s not quite perfect for his era, but his outfit actually is fairly authentic. The big thing about the image is that it fits the character really well.

@Daeus hmmm… I like the silver… at any rate the gradient gives the words a bit more of a mysterious look. I’m not sure it’s such a great idea to have both gold and silver words in the same place, unless you were gonna make the title gold and the subtitle silver, because gold is so much more vibrant it’s very distracting. If you’re going to…[Read more]
