      Hi folks,

If you want to go ahead and leave a question for the panel discussion on the 23rd, do so here. By posting your questions in advance, we’ll be able to get to your questions first.

I’ve heard a lot about how authours have to market themselves as well as their books, and about “defining your brand”, and all, but practically speaking how do you do this? I’m not published yet, but a certain amount of “advertising” is necessary both for getting traditionally published and for doing it on your own.

@northerner Absolutely. Just to clarify, you are talking about building an audience for your books, right? I thought possibly you might be asking about branding — like presenting a consistent impression of yourself in everything you do, which is kinda related, but much more of a specific topic.

Hmm, it could be both. Or either one. Whichever the panel would rather talk about, I suppose, though the broader topic might be better.

What is the importance of having a platform as an author? And one publishing a book (self or traditional) how do you market and promote?

What are some tips for revealing backstory?

If someone is planning to independently publish, should they find beta readers or an editor first?
