It would depend. I might not sign up simply because I don’t read many stories on blogs even when they are really interesting because I’m busy. Though if I happened to have hours of free time (sleeping doesn’t count) and did happen to read stories on line and like them, then yes, I might create an account. If I could read everything and could sign…[Read more]

Just a random question…is anyone here on any ‘social media’? Mainly, I’m curious if anyone is on Pinterest or Instagram. 🙂

I use blogger and am quite pleased with it (well, after I figured out everything anyway). With both blogger and (I think) wordpress, you can have a gadget to the side where people to sign up to your blog by e-mail…so every time you post they get an e-mail with that post and can either read it there or go to your blog and read it. Now, of course,…[Read more]

I just go the first book for free on my Kindle! I’m not sure when I’ll get around to reading it since I already have a few books on my reading list, but I’m looking forward to it. 🙂

I’ve done all my maps my hand…very time consuming, but they look cool. I’ve not had much experience with doing it on the computer though. 🙂

Isn’t it great? It’s one of my favorite ‘kid’ movies and I’ve watched it a number of times. And the soundtrack is wonderful. 🙂

@writefury Bury his father before the fight…that is a really good idea. It would have to be a quick funeral, because the enemy is outside the city, but that would help cut down on the last chapter where there are already a few other events. The ‘mystery man’ is more of an ‘Aha’ moment, than a huge subplot, and if I move the funeral, then I can…[Read more]

@Daeus I know, the description is a bit vague, but the chapter isn’t good enough to post the whole thing at this point, though I might post part of it after my current correction is done if I still can’t figure out anything (hopefully I can).
Since the man turns out to be the father of another character, the mystery does need to be…[Read more]

I’m having a problem arranging a few final, wrapping-up events at the end of one of my books, King’s Armor. For a quick summery, it is a fantasy which climaxes in a big battle. The MC’s father dies before the battle (with wounds from a previous fight). Also, there is somewhat of a mystery with one of MC’s friends in connection with a mysterious…[Read more]

I’ve read the Hunger Games and enjoyed them…though they do paint a rather depressing picture of life without God, especially at the end.
Anyway (MORE SPOILERS), Prim’s death was probably the most shocking for me. It took me a little while to comprehend it. How can you just kill Prim? As a slightly random question, have you…[Read more]

Oh yes, @kate-flournoy …Long white hands and fingers with a grip of steel, a sure sign it’s the Pimpernel. 🙂

Not to say I don’t like his stuff; I’ve really enjoyed a number of his writing. It’s just that the more I read, the more patterns I see, and the less enjoyable it is over time.
I completely agree. I picked up a Henty book recently after not reading one for a long time and keep mentally correcting all the things you shouldn’t do……[Read more]

Like everyone else here, I love the name Denholm. 🙂
Question…is the watchman a girl? Clear young eyes; smooth cheeks; visor down; not speaking… He might not be, but I can see a possibility…
Anyway, one thing no one else pointed out. At the very beginning of the scene, Denholm looks at the spear stuck in the wood. Reading the rest of the…[Read more]

Rule #1: The Scarlet Pimpernel is never dead.
Rule #2: The Scarlet Pimpernel always knows what he’s doing.
Rule #3: Don’t mess with Sir. Percy’s wife.I love the Scarlet Pimpernel books; there are some pretty good parts. 🙂
One thing I find thrilling in books is when I get to a spot, and suddenly the title of the story makes…[Read more]

How about a light, inspirational thread? 🙂
What are some ‘heart-stopping’ moments in books you’ve read…things that either make you want to write a scene like that or give up writing altogether because other authors are so much better? 😉
Note: by ‘heart-stopping’ I mean the scenes (or the climax of a plot line) which makes you clap your…[Read more]

Has anyone read the Michael Vey Series? Five of the seven books are published and I’ve really enjoyed them so far. I love the characters, though the author has been reusing the basic plots a little bit…hopefully he branches out in the next book. 🙂
