@bethanysinkyroses Hola! 🙂 I was curious, how do you study the Bible? I’ve been feeling the same way, with wanting to do more than just reading, but I’m not sure what the next step is. Isn’t First Peter an awesome book? What are your favorite books in the Bible? Mine change often, but right now they would be 1 Peter and Phillipians.

Hey @bethanysinkyroses, I am working on that now. Will send a link in a new thread once it is all ready. Sorry for the delay. Many troll-thingys have been making a muck in my personal quarters, and I am trying to put it all right.

@bethanysinkyroses Awwww, how sweet! That’s awesome, and too true that it’s not that far from what they actually are.
That’s exactly why I love Eustace’s character too! The arc is amazing.

@bethanysinkyroses Haha! I was confused by it up to the point of today. I guess it’s just a descriptive word that the genius writers of the Kingdom[pen.org] came up with.
My favorite character would probably be Aslan, even though that’s kind of a given. 😛 Aside from that, Edmund or Eustace (or however you spell his name). But I love all of the…[Read more] -

@aratrea @bethanysinkyroses @emma-flournoy @ethryndal. Thank you all so much for praying, but I have some really, really sad news.
Aunt Julie lost the baby.
Please pray very hard for her; this is very difficult, and for my mom too. They’re sisters, and Mom is really sad as well. I can only imagine the pain of having a miscarriage after wanting a…[Read more] -

@BethanySinkyRoses Definitely agree with everyone else. Another thing I thought of is that in trying to teach or encourage your audience in any way, you need them to be able to identify with your characters, & they can’t do that if your characters are perfect. Make sense?
Also, I really like @kate-flournoy‘s point. Showing the real life struggle…[Read more]

@BethanySinkyRoses yeah… what they said. 😛
Also just realize that ‘parents’ is not some sort of alternate reality slot that some human beings choose to fall into and become not-human beings. Some people are parents, but all parents are people. These characters should be as developed as your other characters because they’re just as complex.…[Read more]

@bethanysinkyroses I’ll second what Daeus said about the importance of characters who journey from darkness to light. I’ll also say that I dislike the current trend in fiction where parents are incompetent and merely obstacles in the protagonist’s path. =P
That being said, I don’t think writing perfect parents is a good solution to that problem…[Read more]

@bethanysinkyroses Quick answer: It’s okay to portray anyone unrealistically.
Long answer:
I think what’s going on in your example (not having read it) is that the author is trying to shine the spotlight on Christianity by making it idealistic in their story.
This isn’t really doing what they think it is though. The spotlight is focused in…[Read more]

What do you think of parents who have no personality and never make mistakes? Is there a good excuse for writers who do this?
For example, in the Mennonite Millers book series, the parents are portrayed as all-wise and unerring. Perfect-no flaws, no mistakes, ever. Maybe they are this way to encourage the small fry in the audience to respect…[Read more]

@aratrea @bethanysinkyroses Thank you. I just ordered the paperback version of Ivy Rose’s ‘The Old River Road’ which should be here tomorrow after my root canal… looking forward to that, and knowing the fact that I probably won’t die from the pain will help me through.

And *takes deep breath* Here’s the short story.
I’m crazy.
I know that.
My mother shakes her head sadly as she closes the door. The dull click of the lock echoes in my head.
They say it’s for my own good. They say that I’m mad, a lunatic, a delusional fantasist. Locking me in here is supposed to protect me.
But I know the truth…[Read more] -

@bethanysinkyroses Another Random Answer: No, I don’t think our kidnappers put the fridge off limits, but does that mean you have to eat a banana-split while we’re trying to figure out a way to escape?
I can draw some, but the best artists I know on here are Kate Flournoy and Ethryndal.

@bethanysinkyroses Random answer: Ghosts don’t like McDonalds. The fries are too salty for their tastes.
Seriously though, that might work… if I can sketch one. I’m not that great of an artist.

So, remember a few KP newsletter contest back, when it was the girl holding up the Wonderland hitchhiking sign? Well, I wrote an entry for that, but unfortunately didn’t turn it in in time. @bethanysinkyroses That’s so cool that you write your own music! I’ve written three really short songs on the piano, one titled Pinball Machine, (I like fast songs) another Echoes, and the third I don’t know yet. The unnamed one is my favorite.
