@Audrey-caylin, @winter-rose, @GracieGirl, I’m off for the night. I got a fair amount edited.
Also: you know you are a writer when you can talk about how a character, pre-conversion, found it fun to kill people, and the person you’re talking to gets it.

@Audrey-Caylin, I’m going to be editing and revising and maybe writing new stuff for about an hour.

Cool @audrey-caylin! I’ll be working on some short story edits.

@audrey-caylin Got it. In that case, scenes 1 and 3 look like a great way of deepening the protagonist’s EiL and pushing her forward in that. How would you say that scene 2 relates to the themes of truth & forgiveness?

@audrey-caylin Haha, nice work choosing ‘normal’ scenes. 😉 Just so I understand what’s going on in this other story, what’s the theme that’s being tackled?

@audrey-caylin Thanks. It probably isn’t necessary anymore unless you’re just really looking for something to do with your extra time.
It’s not actually on Goodreads yet. I’ll have to do that as soon as I get a chance.

Ellow,
As you probably all know, I’ve been working on publishing recently and the news at the moment is…now I’m published!
But SHHHH! Don’t tell anyone yet. The fact is I’ll probably need another week or two before I’m completely ready to let the world know about it. One of the things I want to get done first is to change the price.
I’ve…[Read more]

@audrey-caylin Correct. Disaster can be anything from losing a physical fight, learning about a devastating revelation, failing to complete an objective, or anything else that makes things go poorly for the character.
And fantastic use of that in your story. All of that looks great!

@audrey-caylin My current plan is to steal my sister’s copy of the book when I’m home over Spring break. 😉 That’s awesome that you were able to find it so clearly! Figuring out why an author chose to write a scene in a certain way is one of my favorite ways to apply and test what I’ve learned about writing.

@kate-flournoy Both of those look great! Have you thought about what the reaction sequences would look like for both of those action sequences?
@audrey-caylin That’s a fantastic question. Like @daeus said, I think a good rule of thumb is that a scene ends whenever you have a scene break or chapter break, but scenes can sometime extend over scene…[Read more]

@audrey-caylin Alright; finally getting around to giving you feedback on this. xD And yes, a “climax of a climax” is an actual thing. xD Different writers call it different things, though. Weiland calls it the ‘climactic moment.’
Anyways, onto thoughts on the story. It sounds like Method #2 that’s being utilized since the protagonist is aware of…[Read more]

Thanks for the input everyone! It looks like the best option is going to be February 24th from 3-4 PM EST, so we’re going to be scheduling the Q&A for that. I’ll be sending out an email the day before with a webinar link, and will also make sure to post a link in this thread! Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible there. 🙂

@audrey-caylin Well, it’s fine to end a scene with a disaster. In that case you’re basically just dividing one scene (with an action and reaction sequence) into two scenes, one with the action sequence and the other with the reaction sequence.
I guess I should have phrased myself a little differently. A scene is a section in your story where…[Read more]

@audrey-caylin That’s a good point. Scenes are a hard thing to grasp. I really don’t think anyone has a perfect definition of them. One helpful place to start is that a scene is similar to a chapter. By that I mean that many chapters are comprised of only one scene. There are however many chapters out there with two or more scenes in them. These…[Read more]

Heh, well I’ve only dabbled so far and they’re not very good, but I’ll look through them and see if there’s any that I won’t cringe too much for others to see. =P Maybe I’ll make an art topic if there’s a place for that on this forum…@kate-flournoy
