@Jane-Maree Every time I edit a scene, my mind now demands “what has this got to do with your theme and this character’s character arc?” Usually, I answer “NOTHING. NOW LEAVE ME ALONE TO WRITE.” xD In the scenes where I have been able to implement it though, it makes a big difference. One day, we shall be Masters of Theme 😀
I’m going to go mess…[Read more]

@Jane-Maree *headdesks* that’s hard 😛 I’m beginning to think I’ll be spending the rest of my writer life trying to perfect all my scenes *glares at the scene I’m working on*

@Jane-Maree EEEP. THAT LOOKS SO AWESOME. PLEASE keep me updated. Seriously. I have a list of novels I want to beta-read, and I’m adding yours (yes, that scary “List” I recently created xD)
Anyway, that sounds SO cool. I hope all goes well! And alphas are super fun. I’ve done it by interacting with them chapter by chapter, so it wasn’t like…[Read more]

@Jane-Maree Is this your first time with alphas/betas? I have my first novel out right now as well. It’s sort of terrifying… but I’m excited to work through feedback and make changes when I get it back 😀
… *whispers* what’s your novel about? If it’s the first in the trilogy, I might volunteer…

@Jane-Maree *high-five to fellow trilogy writer* I’m sure the finale will be epic 😀
That’s writers, I guess: “Regular” people don’t understand our “language” 😉

@Jane-Maree fun! Something about me just loves plotting (sometimes 😉 ). I’m going over alpha-reader feedback right now. Apparently, I’m known to name random characters but never mention their backstory 😛

@Jane-Maree I guess as long as it has to do with words, you’re good xD

One of my foil characters, Skye, has an arc that is different yet the same as my protagonist’s. They blend toward the middle. Skye’s arc is about forgiveness the entire time as she struggles to forgive her sister’s murderer, who saved her and her brother’s lives. After Skye’s anger drives the said-murderer away, and Skye and her brother are unable…[Read more]

I think method #1 would be interesting, giving the characters the same arc, but like you mentioned in the video, the story might get boring if you don’t do it right. It would be interesting to have characters with the same arc in very different places though, and see how characters with the same EiL can have such different lives.
I personally…[Read more]

*hides behind hands* I need to memorize more Scripture 😛 Usually I can memorize the actual words, but can’t remember where it came from for the life of me. I’ve been spending a lot more time in the Bible lately though, so I’ll be back soon with something…
Actually, I chose a verse for the year, and I remember it 😀 (though not what Bible…[Read more]

I’ll start by saying I’m not very good at writing villains or even coming up with them 😛 However, I do have a “villain” for my sequel.
Arlon, who is a basically a science-experiment gone wrong (like the incredible hulk or something, I guess). Thousands of dollars went into his “project,” and he was promoted the leader of one of the main…[Read more]

This is awesome (and terrifying xD)
Hmm…my Spring goals would be:
Writing
Edit one novel with beta-reader notes
Edit the sequel and go through it with my alpha
Outline the last book in the trilogy
Complete world-building for a fantasy trilogy (maybe)
Submit a short story and maybe an article to Kingdom Pen (been on my list forever :P)
Finish…[Read more] -

@aratrea You haven’t read The Robe?!?!?! It’s the best Christian novel ever! Go read it xD
I think it was so interesting because now I have more ways to stop my protagonists from reaching their goals 😉 I like the idea of characters who are friends creating conflict with each other too. And I have an idea to make a really cool antagonist, so it…[Read more]
