Ariel Ashira

Oh, Hooray!  I finally got around the quirks in my gmail account and have a google document with the opening of my book!

So please read it and tell me if after reading this much you would keep reading.  Or something like that.

Right now I’m not looking for grammar and editing issues, but just trying to make sure that it’s a good idea to c…[Read more]

@warrenluther04 I would love see it if you don’t mind!

@kaya-young Hahaha!  Love it! 🙂 🙂

@rochellaine  Yup! I wonder the same thing! I enjoy observing people and certain characteristics will come to mind while I’m writing. I guess I could put “This is not based on any real person, and any similarity to a real person is unintentional on the author’s part except the lady at the grocery store, the old man who sits in front of us in ch…[Read more]

@kaya-young Haha!  I definitely agree.

Here’s a question: Have you ever read those “disclaimers” in the front of books that say “This is not based on any real person, and any similarity to a real person is unintentional on the author’s part” or something like that?  Do you think that is ever actually true?  Because I totally base my characters of…[Read more]

@dekreel *phew*. Agreed….

I probably have some old (probably better, actually) manga art stashed away somewhere…I might be able to post it..? (If anyone wants…)

@warrenluther04  Ohhhh, like that! Yes, manga is unique

@daughteroftheking  Yes, I know what you mean! It has that Shakespearean sonnet feel to it 🙂

@jenwriter17  Which Tales have you read (or partially read), do you know?

@sleepwalkingmk  @aratrea Thanks! I will keep that in mind when I pick Chaucer back up again 🙂

@dekreel Thanks! Oh… sorry! Traditional manga reads right to left, top to bottom. Hope that helps!

I learned how to draw eyes from one of my friends. Wait, no. *grins* I actually learned manga from that friend! 😀

@warrenluther04  Oh, that’s cool!! I’m having trouble figuring out the order of the panels, though. I like it! Especially the eyes 😀

@kate-flournoy Have at it. 😀

• The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson
• Calico Captive and The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare
• Night by Elie Wiesel
• A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
• The Diary of Anne Frank by Anne Frank (non-fiction)
• Princess Academy by Shannon Hale

(You do know that BlueJay is gone for now……….)

@warrioroftherealm H. Rider Haggard wrote some amazing books with plenty of intrigue.  I’ve read a couple of his historical fiction ones, but I believe he wrote some fantasy as well.

@warrioroftherealm The Ascendance Trilogy by Nielsen.

@jenwriter17 @dekreel Hmm… do you like these? Honestly, I’m not sure how well they turned out… all of the faces look to oval-like and the hands look weird.

@jenwriter17 I’m not entirely sure about the drawing tablet; they tend to be quite expensive (the one I’m looking at is about $100), but it would be an interesting investment and it would make shading a lot easier.

Chibis are adorable and fun to draw.

Umm, okay. I just finished transferring The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan D…[Read more]

@sarah-anson WOAH! *falls out of chair* Now I’m intrigued: can you post Firemaster sometime? That art is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!  What specific manga style do you draw? (i.e. shoujo, shonen, bishie, etc.)

<p style=”text-align: left;”>@warrioroftherealm AAAHHHH!!! *tells herself to calm down* Read the Kingfountain Books by Jeff Wheeler! They are fantasy and have a fair bit of political intrigue, and are overall very well written, clean, and extremely hard to put down.</p>

@warrioroftherealm Try Rora for historical fiction. It’s a tale of a Waldensian resistance fighter and it has some good political intrigue in it.
