Hi. I’ve read your opening. Chara is a very relatable character (since I have height issues myself) and the part where she got blown back was very cute and funny. I think your story has a lot of potential to be a nice, relaxing and refreshing read amidst all the overdramatic and fantastical plots nowadays. A realistic “journey”…[Read more]

@valtmy Wow! This sounds cool enough to give me a headache. lol
I doubt I can answer all your questions, but maybe I can help you with a few. Here goes.
#1 I agree that different people should have different powers at the same time of day. If you do this, there should probably be a governing rule. For instance, males and females are divided as…[Read more]

Medieval: Knights, tournaments, castles, swords, minstrels, chivalric romance. Not to mention serfs and primae noctis.
Dark Ages: The Plague. Lots of filth. That’s pretty much it.
OK, to be serious, I think most periods in real life history that are referred to as a “dark age” were actually preceded by rather advanced civilizations. But after…[Read more]

Hmm… Personally when I find myself writing stories which I do not like even though it starred characters which I loved, the problem was that I was taking a plot-driven approach when a character-driven one would have been more appropriate. I was too fixated on the idea of certain plot events happening (a fight, a confrontation, a…[Read more]

Hey guys. I am looking for help from anyone who knows anything about writing magical systems and time loops.
I have an idea for a story that will use an elemental magic system that I have created but I am encountering problems with even making basic decisions regarding the plot and characters because of some details that I have yet to work…[Read more]

@rochellaine Cool! I like this quote from C.S. Lewis on the subject of show, don’t tell:
<b>”Don’t use adjectives which merely tell us how you want us to feel about the thing you are describing. I mean, instead of telling us a thing was “terrible”, describe it so we’ll be terrified. Don’t say it was “delightful”, make us say “delightful” when w…[Read more]

Great quotes!
Hmm what comes to mind is this from William Faulkner:

@warrenluther04 Personally I like girls eyes better because boys eyes tend to be angular. I’m more used to drawing girls in general X’D
@catwing That’s good! I like the eyes 😀

@that_writer_girl_99 I finally came up with something. 🙂
I think science fiction worldbuilding shouldn’t be as complicated as a lot of us try to make it. When writing science fiction, wouldn’t it be simpler to pick one specific scientific interest which is the basis for your story, and then have the rest of the story be more normal? That would…[Read more]

@bella-d I second all the comments above! 🙂
Something I think is interesting about Medieval times is that back then very few people knew how to read, and so almost all news was carried from castle to castle by minstrels who would make up songs about the famous deeds done, and would learn songs from other minstrels to carry the news of those…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 Isn’t it, though? I have a tendency to become melodramatic, but I think this really sums up how to write good drama. I know I usually cry more when I watch/read about someone trying not to cry than when they’re sobbing their heart out.
I like your quote, by the way. 🙂
