That’s awesome! I can sympathize.
Some other question ideas:
Will Snoden and/or Hewson be in this next book?
When did he start writing stories?
What’s one writing habit to avoid?
Does he think his connection to the Zulu tribes inspire anything in Green Ember? If so, what?
Who was Wilfred’s first wife/family he lost?
Will there…[Read more]

@loopylin Speaking of wise women,
Mother: That guy… He looks like, like…
Us: Gandalf!
Mother: Yes!
Us: In a button down flannel shirt!
Mother: What is he doing at Brookshire’s?
(Really happened. We saw Gandalf walk out of a local grocery store dressed like a country bumkin. It was unnerving.)
Me*holding up cast*: You know, this is such…[Read more]

Idk. I’ve already had all my questions about GE answered.
Maybe what his first story idea was? Or what were some of the most impacted books for him growing up?

Those are great. Coworker conversations are the best and worst things to overhear. XD

Why do you ask? (To you, Whaley, not Master Smith)

Oh my. Ok. Um…
We know what his favorite cookie is. 🤔
Ack, that’s a good question but my brain is blanking. Something with writing or his time in Africa…
Maybe which one if his characters is his favorite?
*Wonders if I wasted my hypothetical question* XD

The Wise Fool is one of my favorites.
Also, that character in the background with more knives than words, that is the first to react to a threat, but the least likely to comment on it. Mikhail Gregovsky from A Light in Zion fit this to a pin. Natan Israeli in Brother Enemy is similar, if more snarky. Smalls from Green Ember is kinda like this to…[Read more]

My older sister is a graduate student there, so yes, but no, my twin is going somewhere else.

It’s close enough to commute, about 40 minutes one way (so not amazing, but not bad).

I already have that! Perhaps I have made some better-than-bad choices!
Yay!
…What about the first few chapters of the book, though? I want to set him up as likable then, but the beginning doesn’t include any huge brave decisions because it’s setting up the status quo.
The status quo is him trying to be “comfortable” or whatever, right…[Read more]

Hmm. Often anxious, slightly pessimistic, nervous.
Give him something (or someone) he cares so much about that he would risk anxious situations to protect/keep/help. It could be something simple like a pet kitten or his father’s pocket watch, or something more complex like a best friend. What drives his anxiety? What is a cause he’d…[Read more]

The wise fool!!!Where one character is expected to be foolish/silly and instead is incredibly wise. So, there’s a book, A Letter for the King, that took this trope literally, and is spectacular. In the book, Tirillo is the king’s fool, but he’s also secretly a paladin knight and has this incredible wisdom that shows up in the…[Read more]

*Deep sigh of weariness*
Life is nuts right now. So yeah, it might take something kinda out there to stop my in my hamster wheel of days.
I should be back to something like normal in…two weeks?
