I’m not sure whether the Jews back then were called by their Greek names, or whether because the Bible was written in Greek whether they were translated into Greek when it was written. You’d have to do more research on that 😀 I like researching though, do you like research? I assume you do.
Not that I really had a problem with…[Read more]

@valtmy I’m glad you like it! Ohhh…much more trouble! 😛 You won’t believe what happens in the next couple of paragraphs. I mean, for a normal author, yeah, but for a character-coddler like me, my poor little girl is breaking my heart!
Bathshua is a mouthful to say, but not as much for me…as you say your heroine’s name is from your cu…[Read more]

@valtmy Yeah, totally fine. 😛 Different cultures. Anyway, the word people usually would use in polite company here would be the milder form with the same meaning which starts with “c”. As you can see, I don’t even use that one, but I have a few friends who do, and it’s totally not considered bad, like the other one is. 😉

😀 I’ve been in similar situation before 😛 cultural differences, I suppose. That particular word is used a lot in Australia but I’d definitely get into trouble if I said it in my house, or in church. 😛

I won’t pretend to like the name Bathshua either, but I don’t really know any Bible names, except for the obvious ones like Phoebe, Priscilla, etc. But they’re Greek names, and Bathshua sounds Hebrew, so I can’t really suggest anything.
Ah, okay. I thought that might have been him, since you mentioned him. It was pretty funny, and I…[Read more]

@valtmy Sure, you can read it. I’ll give you the link to the opening, which is what I showed SeekJustice. It’s purely unedited, and I don’t want comments right now, other than stuff like “that sounds interesting” or “that’s a kinda weird idea.” 😛 An…[Read more]

Poor…what’s her name?? You obviously need to practise more authorial cruelty.
Yep, that one.
That’s so cool 😀 I’d love a pen like that! I’ve made some mini cranes before and they’re extremely cute 😛
I’m listening to Gee Officer Krupke now. Which one is Russ Tumblyn?

@seekjustice Hi! I’m falling asleep, so I probably won’t be on much longer. Terrible for my poor heroine, though, since she’s stuck in a horrible situation, and since I’m not used to writing horrible situations I can’t get her out of it… 😮 😛
Ah yes, I remember. The musical that’s in German.
I have a pen from China with an origami crane on…[Read more]

Sorry, that took longer than I was expecting. I’m back now. 😀
The musical is Schikaneder, which is the one I mentioned about The Magic Flute, I think it was you I mentioned it too 😀

@valtmy Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I’m talking about Bathshua from Daughter of Judas, so she’s nearly the same age as your MC, perhaps a little older, but I think she would definitely look down on your character as stupid and annoying. 😛 However, right now she’s in a tough place where she’d be thankful for any kindness, and your c…[Read more]

@valtmy My MC is in a pit of despair as well. 🙁 Guess they can be in a pit of despair together. Do you think they would commiserate well?

Ah, that’s probably what it is.
Hey though, my favourite musical at the moment is a romantic comedy. 😛
Its at least half an hour into town and we haven’t left yet so it’ll probably be an hour or so.

@seekjustice Cool, let me know if you do. 😀 Oh, you’ve probably heard of Russ Tamblyn because he plays the absolutely adorable youngest brother, Gideon, in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which is the movie nearly everyone here has seen but you, and everyone loves to talk about, but which you probably wouldn’t like because no one dies in it.…[Read more]

Oh yes, I’ve been meaning to watch/listen to West Side Story. I’ll have to see if our library has a DVD of it. 😀 I’ll listen to it anyway, if I get time 😀 I feel I’ve heard of Russ Tamblyn before, but I can’t think why.

I hope your new job goes well (and your book too 😀 ). We looked forward to any time you’re able to come on the Writers’ Corner. 🙂

@seekjustice It’s “Gee Officer Krupke” from West Side Story. West Side Story is a Romeo and Juliet retelling set among the New York street gangs during the 60s. So the boys in the song have New York accents, like the Newsies, and the song is complaining about the adult authority figures, like Newsies. It’s a bit different though. Hope you lik…[Read more]

What’s it called? I’ll be going into town today, so I’ll probably be able to get some time at the library. 😀 And because of that, I’ll probably be going very soon.

@seekjustice Oh my goodness! I was just watching a song clip (that we’ve seen before) with my sister and laughing over it with her, but it really reminded me of Newsies! Since you love Newsies so much, I think there’s a chance you might like it. 😉 Are you able to watch YouTube today?
