Not at all, @Sarah-H. Writers ramble. It’s part of the job description. 😀
That’s a great question. As far as reading books with a bad worldview like that, in the end they’re just books and no one who reads them with their head screwed on straight and their eyes on Christ is gonna get burned. In fact, I read the IC at a point in my life when I…[Read more]

Kate Flournoy replied to the topic How to Create Good Conflict in the forum Plotting 9 years, 9 months ago
@Leumeister yes, excellent idea. That way the emphasis is not on the goal itself, but why the antagonists/protagonist should or should not deserve/accomplish it, based on the rightness of their worldview.
Also a very good point, @Anna-Brie. I agree.

@daeus That’s great! Glad you’re making progress. I wrote part of a description for a new children’s story I’m planning as well as a page of technicalities. It’s a work in progress, but I think my planning muse decided to come home.

@PerfectFifths yes, I had loads of fun teaching myself all the different old fonts I could find… in fact I probably should have learned the basics first, but I wanted to learn those other fonts so badly I plunged right into the advanced styles and mastered the basics on the way. 😛 I especially like the Gothic font— the one used most in old…[Read more]

@PerfectFifths I am so jealous… 😛 I actually taught myself calligraphy simply because I loved the font Tolkien uses for his maps so much I wanted to make maps the same way. XD

@PerfectFifths yesssssss. I love maps. Both drawing and looking at them. It’s my dream to have my own ‘office/study’ with the walls simply covered in maps. 😀

@dragon-snapper Thank you for the helpful questions.
@sierra-r & @kate-flournoy & @emma-flournoy Don’t stress. Children stories are hard. (And yes, there is a deadline, but not till Feb.)
@mark-kamibaya Yes, it is for a competition and yes, I did read your post. Rambling is alright. Sometimes your ramblings can be inspiration for another person.…[Read more] -

@Bluejay *seizes head and groans* I am SO sorry but I have nothing to give you! *curls into miserable ball*
It’s so awful, ’cause I’m always picking apart childrens’ stories for being dumb, or too generic, or badly done, or whatever, but I guess that makes me kind of a hypocrite since I can’t think of anything better myself. 🙁 If I think of…[Read more] -

@Leumeister ever painted textures on 3D models? Nope. Probably because I’m extremely uncivilized and disorganized and prefer going free-hand with everything. XD
And yes, Emma and I are sisters.

@Leumeister I like it! It’s got the bones of a great story. One thing I would say is you tend to tell sometimes where you should show. For instance,
She sauntered over, still trying to display an air of authority, coming in closer to examine him.
is pretty good, but it would be stronger if you simply described what she did and gave us the…[Read more]

Hey, if you’re on KingdomPen, you probably do digital art too! Writing a story in a word processing program! XD
@Leumeister Heh, I s’pose that’s true. 😉 (So I won’t be misleading in any way though, I’m not exactly a writer; I write reports sometimes but not books. I know and love the writer stuff though (and being around writers 😀 ) because I…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper GOT IT! 😀
Balin: “You don’t have to do this, laddie. You’ve done honorably by our people, making a home in the Blue Mountains worth more than all the gold in Erebor.” and something-something-something I can’t remember…
Then Thorin says “From my grandfather to my father, this [the key] has come to me. It’s not a choice. Not…[Read more] -

@PerfectFifths Oh, I’ve seen some of their stuff. They’re really talented, though Lindsey Stirling can be…a little weird. 😛
I’m forever indebted to YouTube (and the people who make the videos of course 😉 ) for violin, because I learned mostly through YouTube, and with some help from a friend. 😀 FREE VIDEOS!!! - Load More
