Ok, I was a part of JWM and have been thinking about joining SSC (totally agree on your version of the acronym, lol), but I was not quite sure I really fit there, or that it would be good for me.
The Biblical terms, like “Outer Court” etc. don’t bother me. I’m enough of a nerd to like them. They emphasize a Biblical foundation which is nice. The aim the leaders always shared sounds amazing. A writing community set on making a profession, an art, into a way of worshiping God is fabulous. If our work echoes His work, praises His hand in creation, if we want to impact the world for Him, then our writing and art must be more than a profession. It must be daily worship – surrendering our little to God’s plan. We should not separate our lives into secular and spiritual areas as much as we do. A community pulling those together is wonderful. (as KP does a little)
However, I was bugged whenever they called the group a church. I know it’s a denominational thing, but I cannot envision a church without some spiritual leader to guide it. So, I assumed that either the leaders of SSC/JWM were part of the “unstructured” crowd that believes that Jesus is the only pastor we need and the only other spiritual mentoring we get is maybe from some older saints/Christians; or that one or several of the leaders was taking the role of being a sort of “pastor” for writers. Which… would never apply to me. I am a writer, but I have my own church and pastor and pastor’s wife that I love and trust as I would never trust someone I just randomly was referred to on the internet. I believe that a pastor/church is vital, enough that maybe anything would be better than nothing. Just, I already have something good. NOW, I also felt that those terms were maybe meant figuratively, since the leaders encouraged members to find a church locally to connect to, and even encouraged people to share about services in their home churches. I just never shook the feeling I had accidentally joined a cult. XD Like I said, not something that probably bothers other people. For someone who thinks of a church only as a community of believers bent on a similar purpose, the term may fit perfectly. *shrug*
Other than that, it felt like a nice enough place. My only other issue is that they use cookies and third-party data exchanges without a clear explanation of how that is kept safe for the member. Or at least, it didn’t feel clear to me, but I know I can be needlessly picky about the randomest things when it comes to online safety. I loathe contracts that I can’t read through without my eyes crossing.
As for Content Warnings, I really like KP’s and YWW’s. They’re formed with intent and from experience. The CW that I remember from JWM was similar enough to YWW that I probably supplemented my reading with that one and just read between the lines in the way that made the most sense, lol. So I don’t have much to share there.
As someone with some limited education/second-hand experience in psychology/suicide, I understand why YWW bans any writings portraying attempted or outrightly contemplated suicide, even with a CW posted. It’s because awareness often works the wrong way/it’s usually not handled correctly and can often encourage rather than discourage self-harm etc. It’s not that it should never be portrayed, but that as a general rule it shouldn’t be touched so closely. I did like that YWW has a separate forum for writing other mature/dark/”sensitive” topics so students can learn how to show the light instead of glorifying the darkness… without hurting anyone in the learning process.
So yeah.
Anyway. Sorry for all that. If you skip the rest, this is my impression. SSC could be amazing, just maybe not for everyone: as is pretty much every community. I know some of the people on it clicked with it and experienced a lot of growth. I’m glad for them and hope that continues into a great thing. Like I said, I love the concept, the new perspective. I just cannot at this moment say I am one of those people.

By the way, there are two 7s, you know. Twins. One is Angelic, the Number of Perfection. A rosy, divine gold.
The other is a spy. A bit cocky, a bit too intelligent. A silver, metallic but still matte.
And get 7 together with his cousin 8? Ooo. Those two can be trouble, but 8 usually keeps everyone in line. Too close to 10 to act up too much. Just keep 7 away from 3 (salmon pink) or they’ll equal 21. And we all know 21, that white-green number with his shimmery slimness. Too handsome, that one.
But at least he isn’t 23.

February 1, 2026 at 4:24 pm #210436*GASP* How dare you speak such things of my second favorite number? 21 may be handsome and a little quirky, but here’s wonderfully stable minded when compared to 46. *shudder* And he’s a satiny turquoisish shadowed blue-black, unless you break him in half, when he becomes an inky black 1 and a pastel yellow 2. *Huffs in high distain*

February 1, 2026 at 4:35 pm #210445Hey guys, what about 4? My family just unanimously said it was darkish purple. (Except my mother who thinks we’re all insane.) I am wondering if you feel the same.

4 is brick red – like squares, which are four-cornered. Similar relationship to 3 and triangles, which are both yellow.
