@raxforge yeah I get that, what I meant was when and why it became standardized. Different forms of martial arts were developed by completely separate cultures, so logically they couldn’t have all happened upon the belt system at once and with the same color progression, right? Was that a more modern synchronization thing?
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

October 10, 2024 at 3:51 pm #187326I’m not sure how the belt tradition started, guys. I bet it started with clothing differences to tell who was a master or not, and they streamlined over time to something more practical.
I need time, I’m sorry for not getting him done yet 😢

I wrote 108,000 words yesterday and today……..

I don’t know if you know this, but that would be a 300 page manuscript. Even if you were a confident writer who doesn’t pause to think, you would still have to write alllll day and you would probably have to be a professional typist in order to not get carpal tunnel syndrome.
To rephrase this into a question… Did you take more time than the two days you mentioned, or did you make a typo on those numbers?

October 10, 2024 at 6:35 pm #187341I don’t think you’re using the correct font size. Or…. something.
My 99 page WIP is 138,900 words long. I had a good writing streak and some free time to do it. I kinda type wild fast. My dad says it sounds like I’m attacking the computer.
I had all day yesterday to write and I took the opportunity 110%
And then I wrote a bunch when I got home from work.
It doesn’t have to be 300 pages.
I use small font and stretch the page to make it look bigger.
idk why.
I guess it’s faster to scroll through.
Anyhow……….

October 10, 2024 at 6:36 pm #187342Also, I didn’t really pause to think…..And I turned off auto correct….. and I never stopped to reread.
That comes next week. This week is solely for getting the story on the paper. Then I can deal with fixing things.
It’s how I write.

Since Ellette clears 500 words every time she breathes, I’m going to do one plank for every 5000 words she writes.
🤣
I am pausing this topic. I have roughly 100 planks to complete.

My current project is about a farm boy and his dad in and brother in a not-so-far-in-the-future future where marriage is forbidden.
It’s an interesting plot line and I really love it a lot!

marriage is forbidden
How would that work? I would be interested to know why anyone would forbid marriage.

October 10, 2024 at 9:03 pm #187357No, I think it’s more like “writing a whole lot in one sitting”
Killing Whaley was just a bonus,
Btw, writing is not my only speed talent. I just read two books in one sitting after I signed off. One was 250 pages and the other was 200.
I guess you would have to read the book to find out. But believe me, real people in real life want to do it. I am nothing if not a thorough researcher.
