It is interesting though. Everyone’s imagination is influenced by real life, so each view is unique. Or at least, that sounds right to me… Oh well.

Fork the GorkDecember 20, 2021 at 11:14 pm #107985I saw redish too.
Also I didn’t see that part quite like the illustrator did, so I was shocked when I saw that pic. (I was reading it on my phone, hence the delay between scene and pic) I agree with the proportions, but why wasn’t my imagination consulted before the picture was drawn? XD
It’s okay. I’m used to it. My imagination usually sees things differently.

February 4, 2022 at 10:01 pm #108901I finished the series today. Everytime I think of Janner my heart gets depressed….I see the beauty in his sacrifice but I cry every single time. And I know it’ll take a few days to get over but I’m devastated. Definitely gonna read that doc to see if it at least helps some lol

#ProtectSebFebruary 5, 2022 at 10:04 am #108910IKR? I felt the same way when I first read about Janner. And he had just become a better, braver, more awesome person than he had started out to be. Then he had to DIE. He just had to die. It should have been Kalmar! Andrew Peterson… Tell me why you killed him! Why?! *begins to cry*
Okay, yeah, I still haven’t really gotten over it either.

February 5, 2022 at 10:04 am #108911Also, what doc are you talking about?

February 5, 2022 at 2:56 pm #108912I’m more at peace today, my mom helped me because she read it. There was beauty in it. It couldn’t be Kalmar, it wouldn’t work. Janner had to grow in order to Sacrifice.
he was selfish throughout the series and he realized that. In realizing it, he was able to succumb to the Maker’s will, and be the Seed that was willing to be planted. Willing to be the Throne Warden that sacrificed it all for the broken people, and his own little brother who had been broken. Kalmar had already learned his lesson, multiple times over, Janner had just learned his. Janner now had to sacrifice.
as for the doc, Elishavet’s doc also helps with bringing hope to the story 😉 if u wanna check it out

#ProtectSebFebruary 5, 2022 at 3:02 pm #108913Another thing that helped me was realizing that Christ was my Janner (minus the sins, selfishness and all of Janner’s mistakes)
Christ gave himself, to undo my brokenness, just as Janner had to undo Kalmar’s and all of the other people’s.
And I want to be a Janner for someone else. Does that make sense? It hurts, but there’s beauty in it.
Christ sacrificed first, and then he needed people who would be willing to sacrifice as He had. (Though not near so wonderfully, for only God could sacrifice in the way He did)
but, the beauty is, there was a glimmer of hope given by the author. Janner was a servant of The Maker, and The Maker can bring him back 😊
Hope that helps some of the grief. It does me

#ProtectSebFebruary 5, 2022 at 7:31 pm #108922Yes! That is the beauty of it – the gainful death, if you read the epigraph. It holds conviction and hope in the same hand.
I hope the doc helps! 😉 By the by, if you read the doc and want to comment, feel free! We, my sister and I, enjoy hearing feedback.
It’s really just a continuation of the epilogue that Peterson had already set in motion. 🙂 (The ‘third day’, if you will. 😉 )
I think the link is still active. It’s somewhere in the earlier pages of this thread.

Fork the GorkFebruary 5, 2022 at 7:43 pm #108926Yeah, you’re right, Janner’s death really does complete the story. He is kind of like a Christ character; a person to model yourself after. Good point!
I found it! But then I clicked the link and it said I don’t have access. I typed a message in the box it gave me so I can request access. I really want to read it!!!

February 5, 2022 at 7:47 pm #108927Ok, yeah, we got it! It’s a wee bit restricted, but access is easy to grant. 😉

February 5, 2022 at 7:57 pm #108928Okay, I got it, and read all of it! That is so good! I’ve tried to write that scene over and over and I’ve failed every time, so that’s pretty impressive that you’re able to do that.
When I was reading the part about Artham and Kalmar unwrapping Janner’s body… I started to cry again. I’m a very emotional person xD.
I also loved how you wrote Guildmaster Clout’s perspective as the dragons were passing overhead. That was fun! Great job on this story, I love it! You just inspired me to write more WFS fanfic. When I can find the time for it, that is. :/

February 5, 2022 at 8:33 pm #108929And Janner giving his life for Kalmar, and all the broken, sort of fulfils the plotline between Artham and Esben. If that makes any sense.

Fork the GorkFebruary 5, 2022 at 8:36 pm #108931Awwww, thank you!
I’m so, so, SO glad you liked it. Scenes like that can be hard to do right, (and we sure didn’t get it perfect) but they’re loads of fun to write. Plus, it makes it all the more exciting when others enjoy them too.
Go on and write more! I’m sure they’ll be beautiful in their own unique ways.
(If you ever have one you want to share, you know where to look for an audience. 😉 )

February 5, 2022 at 8:41 pm #108932Thanks for the motivation! Maybe I should write some Wingfeather fanfic for my next blog short story of the month… that’s a good idea. Yeah, if and when I write some, I’ll let all you guys know!
