*Creeps in, face hidden in the depths of my cowl. Waves a greeting to Kitty.*
Good day, I have entered here to expound unto you my delight in your books and presence.
*After my fervent salutation, I slip off into the drifting snow, the forest floor swept clean by the hem of my kirtle.*
Пока!

Fork the GorkNovember 15, 2021 at 4:56 pm #107267@koshka Hey there! Late welcome to our Kingdom of Pen! I’m usually one of the early greeters but I don’t think I’ve welcomed anyone in a long time due to school, hhh…
I’m Linyang, but everyone here calls me Lin, and I enjoy writing crime and fantasy. I was homeschooled as well, and I did a ton of Bible quizzing as a kid. Honestly, I can totally relate to working on three books at a time because I’m also constantly juggling multiple projects. Still trying to work that out…
All of your projects sound awesome! Do you have a main one or are they all equally important? Which one do you enjoy working on most, or what aspect do you like about each one?

If hours don't turn into daysNovember 15, 2021 at 5:22 pm #107268Hello to you too! School, ugh.
What church did you quiz with, if you don’t mind my asking?
Oh the desperate struggle to inscribe one’s ideas…*sigh*
Warning: if I start talking about my books I may not be well able to cease.
Thank you, I try! XD. Heart of Gold Heart of Stone is my completest WIP, so I enjoy working over it the most. However, favor flits about depending on which I’m more inspired in. My favorite aspect of writing is character development/arc depth. Forming relatable characters and using them to show truth. That’s what I enjoy most in writing all of my books.
What kind of fantasy and crime? The fantasy I’ve read was mostly classic, and I haven’t read much at all in crime.

Fork the GorkNovember 15, 2021 at 5:45 pm #107271@koshka Ah, I won’t say my church, but we basically did Bible quizzing through a program called AWANA, not sure if you’ve heard of it. I live up in the New England area, so our paths probably haven’t crossed.
I write urban fantasy, eastern fantasy, anything but high fantasy. I tend to combine crime and fantasy, so a lot of my stories (well, stories I have written in this past phase) revolve around some type of police/detective character either trying to catch a criminal or maybe dealing with a group. Sometimes there’s fantasy elements involved.

If hours don't turn into daysNovember 18, 2021 at 1:38 am #107387Well, if you ever need a beta reader, critique, or anything else in the future, I am always available if you ever want. I hadn’t been critiquing or reading for awhile (very busy) but I’m happy to say that I can once again critique or you know, just give general thoughts or point out flaws and strengths that I see. But that is of course entirly up to you as the author if you ever wanted to share some on KP:)
Yes. I can totally relate to that, seeing a perfect scene in my head, have its all play out, and everything be amazing. Then I put it on paper and blam, it’s nothing like what I’d imagined and is in need of serious work. A total mess. I think that’s because in our heads, we don’t think about all the craft behind the scene. It’s what the reader sees, not the hardworking writer putting it together in a way that works… you know?
yeah, everyone has room for improvement, but I enjoyed your descriptions:)That does sound like it’ll be interesting to write. I love it. I mean, I’m a fan already of how your setting up the timeline. Two in medieval, one in a more modern world. Love that.
As far as if Radmir’s death was clear enough, I’ll admit at first I wasn’t completely sure. But I strongly suspected it, first by the fact that he wasn’t described in a positive recovery state as the others mentioned. Secondly, I could tell when Yarik swallowed that this had to be bad news. And the part about the letter brought some sickening truth about Ramir’s fate. By far, the letter part was the best event showing Ramdir’s fate. I liked it a lot. The reason I wasn’t totally sure was because I don’t know who Lev or Aleks are, so I did not know if they were allies or enemies.
Hmm, to be honest I did not know Kapellan was Chaplain until you brought it to my attention. I like the way you had once used the word Kapitan (I hope I spelled that right, if not, please correct me on that), for Captain. Mentally the voice and word and a more distinct characteristic that I thought was very good. So I like that and you could continue with that style of word choice throughout the novels, I think that’d work wonderfully. But on the other hand, it is slightly more difficult to distinct Kapellan to Chaplain as Kapitan to Captain is. Though that can obviously be easily remedied with showing the Kapellan in his natural surroundings and work. So my ultimate thought on it is that I think Kapellan would be better than Chaplain. Of course this is just my opinion on it:)
November 18, 2021 at 5:50 pm #107400I’ll tell you as soon as the first draft is beta ready, and I will be needing help along the way. Thank you!
Exactly. Sometimes I want to smash the computer.
Ok, I will rephrase that. Thank you! (I enjoyed writing that part. The epilogue is vaguely based off of the book And God Was There.)
Oh good! I love writing transliterated words. They seem to deepen the world.
