I have been working on developing Rour’s character. I’m not going to give you everything from it (unless you really want to, this is one file that will not spoil the upcoming story), but here are some fun facts about the character:
Rour Phang
Age: 22
Race: Lyen
Dominate Hand: Right
Favorite Ice Cream: Cappuccino
Occupation: Solider
Trivia:
- As a child, Rour did not like stories where characters did things they knew they were not supposed to. As he grew older, this turned into a fear of stories where some characters could control others’ minds. It was always a relief when these villains were finally dealt with properly.
- Rour has OCD. He often cleans up and organizes his squad’s barracks and has given everything a proper place.
July 20, 2024 at 5:29 pm #183288@linus-smallprint cool! They have ice cream in this universe?
(I’ve actually been thinking of doing something like this for my characters.)
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
July 20, 2024 at 5:38 pm #183289Yes, they would have ice cream. The reason I included it is because it is a good question to ask as you develop your characters. If your character is developed well enough, the answer will come somewhat naturally (though I do often have to stop and think about it).
Rour like things to be neat and orderly, so I knew he would not like any swirl flavour or a flavour with chucnks of nuts, berries, or chocolate in it. Instead, he would like something consistent all the way through. He also likes responsibility, which brought coffee to mind. So Cappuccino it was.

I will be working on Chapter the 8th this week. In the mean time, here are some more fun facts about a couple more characters.
Alan Wherl
Age: 22
Race: Wizard (though still mostly human)
Dominate Hand: Left
Favourite Ice Cream: Chocolate
Occupation: Solider
Trivia:
- Alan was inspired by illustrations of Mr. Tummnus, in which I noticed Mr. Tummnus had a different tail from the other fauns. I realized this was probably to distinguish him from other fauns, but I could not help noticing that his tail matched that of a minotaur. This led to the idea of a boy who had a monster for a father and somehow became part monster himself.
- Alan’s original name was Marcus
Tyn Meritinox
Age: 19
Race: Kentor
Dominate Hand: Right
Favourite Ice Cream: Raspberry Sorbet, but she tells everyone she likes Spicy Dark Chocolate.
Occupation: Solider
Trivia:
- Tyn’s last name, Meritinox, is a combination of Latin and Cree words for subbron. Her first name was simply one that felt fitting to me to give to a fantasy character.

Finished early this week. I might be able to get Chapter the 9th to you soon as well.
If any of you are gardeners/farmers and have experience in dealing with pesty bugs, I would like to know what you think of how this problem is dealt with in this chapter. How realistic are the solutions provided here? I did some quick research on this, but if you have any corrections I would like to hear them.
Also, for you horse-loving girls, what do you think of Alan’s mount?
Also, I have not heard from many of you in a while. Maybe you just have not had anything to say, or are busy, but I would like to know if you are still following these chapters. If you would like, I can stop tagging you for future posts.

July 23, 2024 at 1:50 pm #183530For some reason, some of those tags did not work. Let’s try that again.
@keilah-h, @stephie, @looplin, @theshadowJuly 23, 2024 at 1:50 pm #183531Ack, messed up your tag again @loopylin
July 23, 2024 at 1:58 pm #183534Don’t put the commas and the tags’ll work.
Also, I’m so sorry I’m behind. Been so worn out from work, I barely have any energy to read anything, even stuff I really enjoy. I really love your book so far so please keep tagging me! I just might be really behind and slow to respond, sorry.

All right. Thank you for confirming your interest. You know, maybe I will remove the deadlines from chapters, giving you more time to read it. (Don’t ask why I had those in the first place, I’m not entirely sure myself.) I also might do what you do, Sara, putting the link to my project in my status update. I will grab a new link for you all shortly.
July 24, 2024 at 10:38 am #183584All right, here is the updated link will all the chapters:
