Linus, I love the idea of making the forum members-only and trying to make navigation easier. But that would take a lot of time for you (which I’m not sure you have?) and cost money…
I think there are ways to create forums on websites made through Blogger and Wix, which you don’t have to pay for an actual domain but you’ll end up typing in something like kingdompentwopointoh.blogger/mysite.
On the plus side, that would probably be helpful with keeping out random people and turn it more into something that you can only find through invitation.
On the minus side, we can’t get new members who don’t already know us from somewhere. ?♀️ Unless we put some kind of post up on THIS forum saying, hey, the moderators are gone and we’ve moved on to [link]. Then, however, there’s still the chance of getting weird stalkers.
There’s also the option of Slack, which Esther mentioned, and I think that would work great too, although I don’t know (Is it free to create a forum on there, Esther?)
It’s a lot faster and better-designed than KP, but then there is the 90-day message disappearing thing. However, for RPs, etc., we could always just have a main Google Doc or something that everyone writes their RPs in so they never disappear.
Honestly, KP has been working pretty well lately, despite there being no moderators…(?) Maybe Kathleen’s just hiding from us. ?

KP’s been working recently. My concern is that I want a friend to join, but if there are no moderators, I don’t know how she’d get on.

Honestly, I would love that, but there’s one little problem with Wix. I’ve been on two Wix-created sites, and they start off great, but something about them just……dies really easily after a couple of years and they become ghost towns with like maybe a single post every two weeks or something.

I would stay away from things like WIX. I can’t remember what it was, but while they are easier to make, there were reasons my instructors gave me to avoid these. Security might have been one of them. (Then again, Kingdom Pen isn’t. Because of my knowledge of WordPress, I was able to find an admin login page by manipulating the URL)
If you would like, I could begin working on an interactive prototype for a new website, and we can see if it is somethng we want to go forward with. They aren’t too hard to create; I could have a decent one created in less than a month. I could also open it up to allow others to comment on it, and add their ideas if they want. (Note: I will have a standard I will expect others to meet because of my web-design OCD and snobyness)
What do you all think?

Depends on how time consuming this project is for you! If it takes lots of effort, I think we should go through all possible communications with the moderators. That way, you don’t do all of this just for KP to work anyway. But if it isn’t hard, go for it!

XD It means the message got into his inbox. I think. Normally, all the moderators have something like @kingdompen.org for their email addresses, and that address does not work. Deus Lamb, however, is part of Story Embers and has another address.
