        Sobbing cause I’m stuck.

        I’d much rather work on something else.

        ugh.

        After some comments y’all made I wonder if I’m about to take this curve too fast…… but it’s already a SUPER long book and I haven’t even started……….

        ugh.

                  @hybridlore   K.

                  QUESTION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE READ ALL POSTED SECTIONS.

                  So, as we all know, and @elishavet-pidyon pointed out….. Julian took that first encounter full-tilt and without a necessary dose of wise caution. However….. now I’m a little stuck.

                  Julian and Leon are living in the house of a family who worship’s idols. Due to their culture, (strongly Roman leaning in this regard) ceremonial worship to said idols will be preformed every day, morning and night. All under the roof of the house are supposed to take part in this. So, since Leon and Julian most certainly will not do that, what am I gonna do? They can make up an excuse to miss the first morning. (they were so tired from their journey that they slept in) but this is a lie….. and it’s a lie to shield that they don’t believe in idols, which I believe boarders on denial of Christ.

                  Sooo, in the original four drafts this is the spot where they go for it and explain exactly why they aren’t going to partake in this. But is that taking it too fast?

                  I just don’t see another option in this situation.

                    I think it’s fine. They have to, in this instance, instead of just jumping at it when they don’t need to. Since Elishavet was the one who pointed that out, I would wait to see what she thinks, but I think that it’s fine.

                      A possible option for them is to say they prefer worshipping in private, then they’ll obviously worship God and not the idols. But that is pretty close to a lie already and I don’t see that working more than once or twice. Probably the best thing for them to do is to just tell them.

                        @ellette-giselle

                        In this chapter, you did a better job of showing Leon and Julian are in a place they used to call home. And I’m not just referring to their comments upon seeing the village in the valley. Their interactions with the Klein family, falling right into the traditions, showed this even better than their words.

                        I like the feel of the mountains.

                        Also, what are y’all’s thoughts on the Klein family!?

                        Trying to figure out how to pronounce their names (which feel German to me for some reason. I could be completely wrong on that).

                        While their tradition is unfamiliar to me, they somehow at the same time feel normal. Partly because there is no suspicion or death threats and partly because of their casual and hospitable attitude. Seems like they will have an important role in the story. (You asking our thoughts on them affirms this.)

                        What was the question you just mentioned you had?

                          Hmm.

                          Could you use this to portray a character flaw? Idk exactly what you have in mine for flaws though.

                            @linus-smallprint

                            Nice, nice. Glad that’s starting to set in. It was harder to show them coming home when they hardly interacted with people and they were in a place that looked a lot like Ardenta because they were right on the boarder. ya know?

                            They’re names are German! This is where you start to feel some of the German cross– beyond the complection. (Leon and Julian are also German names. Julian being the German version of Julius, which is very Roman. Little glimpse into the world of naming which is an obsession of mine.)

                            Have you seen Sound of Music? The oldest daughter (Sixteen Going On Seventeen girl) is named Liesl, so that’s how to pronounce her name.

                            Ernst is the German version of the name Ernest. You just drop the middle “E” and say it a little faster and sharper.

                            Rolf….. well that one is kinda straight-forward. Liesl Von Trapp’s “love interest” in Sound of Music is named Rolf. So that’s how to pronounce that one.

                            Bernd is the said as “burned.”

                            Here, I can repost the question. It probably got lost somewhere up there above this.

                            So, as we all know, and @elishavet pointed out….. Julian took that first encounter full-tilt and without a necessary dose of wise caution. However….. now I’m a little stuck.

                              @ellette-giselle

                              I can see the dilemma. I think it is good that Leon and Julian are trying a more subtle approach. I think @hybridlore’s suggestion is good. They wouldn’t have to lie then.

                              But they are going to have to come out with the truth eventually.

                              Leon and Julian might not necessarily take the correct option first as well. It might be interesting to see some consequences for hiding their beliefs and how they have to deal with that.

                              Also don’t know too much about the Klein’s yet. Would they be just as quick to attempt to kill Leon and Julian as that farmer? Or would they be more patient? Could they even be a little curious?

                              Have you tried researching what Missionaries have done in these situations?

                                Thank you for the prononceation guide. If I don’t get the correct pronunciation down right away, I will learn to pronounce the words the wrong way and be stuck with it. I was already on the path to calling Bernd ‘Bernard’. (I think I am mildly dyslexic, which contributes to that.)

                                  Lolol. Well, Bernd isn’t a super major character… so I guess you can get his name wrong.

                                  Well…… they have had twelve or so years of experience…….. with Ardentans……. when they had anywhere from five minutes to a couple days to say what they came to say and then clear out before someone caught them. So, Julian took the fast and hard approach he was used to. Seeing as the Ardentan’s had lost their weapons and were also scared to death of being punished for causing trouble, they didn’t attempt to throw sharp pointy things, but they would tattle to the guards if it seemed favorable.

                                  They are now playing a whole new game.
