By the way, I still don’t know what to call the people of the Empire! Are they actually called Empirians?

I like them. Julian’s still my favorite. It was nice to get some of Leon’s backstory, in a non-info dumping way. 😉

It seems this is going to be harder than they thought..

So, Ardentans are very tall. (Averaging on the higher end of six feet for men, and the lower end of six feet for women)

The people of the Empire are more average, perhaps a little on the shorter side. Leon and Julian are considered tall in their country, but they are only about the height of average Ardentan women.

Lol. I just always called them people of the Empire. Never really came up with a name for them. It doesn’t really come into play tho.

btw, did you read both sections I posted today, or just the first?

Good, I’m glad Leon’s back story felt natural.

Yes, it is going to be a little harder. Julian may want to curb his eagerness…..

                Awesome.

Make sense about the height thing?

Yes! For some reason, I imagined the people of the Empire to be taller…in movies, the Romans are usually taller…

yeah. They’re tall. Just not tall as Ardentans.

                      Gak!

                      Where?!? Quick, grab some straw!

                      (did you draw that?)

No. It’s from a comic strip called ‘Customer Service Wolf’, which is about a pack of wolves who run a bookstore and have to deal with annoying customers. Since I am currently working in retail, I find it kind of funny and relatable.

wait…… how did you know I don’t like long games?

Because the only people I do know who like long games are the nerdy guys. The only time a girl has shown any intreast in playing this game only did so because a guy she likes was playing it. But even then, her friends were able to talk her out of joining it without too much effort. (It’s not that there are no girls who may enjoy this type of game. But from what I know of you, I doubted that you would like to commit to a game such as this.)

Haha, That sounds like a funny strip.

Hmm, well you would be correct. Maybe. I like some long games, like Everdale, and I love Chess, but other then that I’m not much of a board game person. I like to play them once, (maybe twice) but after that it feels repetitive. *shrug*

I like card games tho. XD

                            @ellette-giselle

Julian reached over for his rucksack. “I wonder what Amelia packed,” He opened it and looked through the contents. “Lots of bread, dried meat, corn meal, dried fruit… oh yes! Raisin cakes!”

I like Rasins. Good for Leon and Julian not rejecting them.

They started off through the woods, looking up at the tall trees about them. They were mostly evergreens, and they grew hundreds of feet in the air, ramrod straight. At their feet stretched a carpet of golden and red leaves that had started to fall from the few deciduous trees scattered here and there. There were rocks in abundance and squirrels argued over nuts while birds chattered in the branches above. A mist hung throughout the forest, making everything muted and peaceful.

“You been here before?” Julian asked.

“No. I’ve never been in this side of the Empire except for when we marched on Ardenta,” Leon replied.

“Same with me. I lived past the Capital all the way to the other side. That was before Adrian and I were soldiers.”

Do the two soliders feel like they are coming home in any way? Maybe not so much for the people, religion, and politics, since they are no longer of the world and have realized the sins of the empire. But what about for the land? How does it feel to be surrounded by trees again for them? Or how familiar is the stone wall to them?

Just saying this, because even though they are returning, I am still getting an alien feeling of the land they are entering. As if they haven’t been in the empire before. (The section here you reposted, you did a better job of. It seems Leon and Julian are somewhat enjoying their walk)

(Also, this area you are describing feels a lot more like home to me than the vast open farmlands of Ardenta.)

Quite the day they had. Death threats in the morning and wolves for the evening.

                                why would anyone reject raisins!!??

Hmm. They’ve been away for about ten years, so things are going to feel very different to them. I can try to add a coming home feel.

Yes, they’ve had a wild day, and it’s just getting started.

Interesting. Both the countries feel like home to me. Ardenta is like the place I live now, and the Empire is like places I lived before!

Ok. I am in the middle of section 2. I’ll go back and finish it. I’m just so… amazed.

WHY would ANYONE in his right mind Say That? XD I’m sorry, it’s just something I remember from a visiting missionary. You rarely if ever start off saying “the gods are false.” Telling people everything they believe is a lie will typically only alienate them. You talk about the wonder of God, how he created everything, loves with a powerful, sacrificial love, and is above all gods of this world. It would also be sacrilegious to a place like the Empire, but it’s not as alienating. Also, in Access Challenged/hostile places, it’s my understanding that you typically build a relationship with someone before seriously “sharing the gospel”. Live a life that makes them wonder what amazing thing you have. Unless of course, the situation demands otherwise. Julian and Leon don’t expect to have much time to build a relationship.

Anyway, you probably do all that in this book, and I am really enjoying reading this. So far cultures are fascinating and the character concepts are fantastic. Ok… I’ll go back and finish that section.

You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan
