I was wondering how early on you saw it coming? I did a teeny, tiny bit of foreshadowing, but I’ll be very surprised if it was really picked up on as much as it just felt realistic when the scene actually came head on.

Hmm. Well, by the time Leo was getting conscious again and Ian wouldn’t make contact with him but kept slipping off by himself and just seemed really depressed. I knew then he was going to try to end it if Leon didn’t reach him in time. He felt like he had no where else to go.

        Wow!! You did catch it!

        That’s impressive.

that would be about the time. He had this almost horrifying relief that he hadn’t been killed, he didn’t know what on earth to do with Leon’s sacrifice and felt bound to help him in some sort of payment, but once Leon was on the road to recovery there was nothing left for him.

Thank you, thank you. *Curtsey* XD

That’s what I thought. It also looked like he blamed himself a bit for what happened to Leon. Poor kid.

he was just messed up. Period.

Thankfully, he’s less messed up now.

my loyal subjects, I beg pardon.

              Tragedy has struck.

The dragon laptop ate LOS for breakfast! 😱

I was able to recover most of it, but alas I must be away to other duties.

                Um…… you’re off by like 40 years.

Well, maybe he will be a grandpa some day.

Speaking of…… any thoughts on his back story?

Umm… Perehapes he was a slave, or at least treated like one, earlier in his life, along with his brothers and cousins. They escaped, and tired to help other slaves.

So, how did you ‘know it’?

Rolf had to show up again sometime and for some reason I can’t explain, it crossed my mind that he was Qayid. I think this is what I was reading when I thought of it:

Master Omar looked at him for a long moment. “I think you should speak to Qayid. He will find your words very… interesting.”

Implying that Qayid is a Christian, and the only one there who is. So Qayid was Rolf.

                  Those greedy dragon laptops…

Do you back up your work to some sort of cloud drive?

                          🤨

I wrote like two paragraphs of his backstory.

This is Omar we’re talking about.

Have you read the section where he introduces himself to Leon??

Okay literary genius. You win on that one. I guess I can see how you figured out it was Rolf. I thought I’d get you with at least that one, but so far you’ve been onto me. 😂

So, in answer to all the questions:

the laptop did an un-authorized update. So while I hit save on all my documents, I still had them minimized instead of fully closed. Normally it tells me about the update and offers a time. I then shut everything fully down, make sure it’s all safe, and update it. Well, when the computer went through and did the update, I had no idea it was happening. It shut down Word, and in the process it deleted all the files that were open all the way off the laptop. I save to a thumb-drive, and I was able to get most of LOS off of that, and the rest of it I got off of KP where I’d posted it.

The tragedy is my current WIP CR. That one was all the way wiped out, and I was only able to recover 50 of 200+ pages because the file I had saved on the Thumb drive was apparently corrupted. (however that happened). So, I’ve got to try and pick up somewhere in the middle of that one and try to piece it back together and re-write everything I lost.

Oh, and to top it off my desktop was reorganized and now I can’t find anything.

So, there is the sad tale, and explains why I cried a good deal of the morning. 🙃

Ohhhhh nooooooo! Ellette! I’m so sorry! That’s terrible!

I’m glad LOS was okay… but I’m really sorry about your WIP. That’s terrible.

I use Word Online (microsoft365.com, I think…) to write, and it saves online so I can access it through my phone and other devices. That might be worth looking into for the future, since I’m pretty sure it’s safe from stuff like that.. (unless you were to write something and not save it, or on airplane mode or something, but basically once it’s saved to the doc it’s good. Anyway, so far for me.) It’s free.
