It’s called “Practicing the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence. Have you heard of it?
Yes! In fact, I just bought it to read but haven’t really dived into it yet!Awesome! It’s an amazing book.
I love that! And it’s so true- I’ve seen cases where pastors and ministers and even missionaries (or anyone really) get caught up so much in the work they feel God has called them to that they neglect their own families and then their children grow up and walk away from the faith.
Yes, I’ve never witnessed something like this firsthand, but I know it’s out there a lot.
I think it’s so much more beautiful when they prioritize their family and also include their children in what they’re doing. It’s also an area I need to grow in, too. It’ll be interesting to discover how I can do that now that I’m home again!
Yes!
Another thing to mention is that parents shouldn’t just be telling their children to do this or that (like reading the Bible, memorizing scripture, and loving each other). I mean, yes, they should tell and train their children to do those good things, but they also need to be telling them why they do those things. Because children have to know the reason behind their actions!
It’s like in the Bible. God told the Israelites to tell their children why they kept a piece of manna in a jar…what it meant and why it was important.

I agree! I also think it’s important for the children to see their parents doing those things, too, because they imitate what is modeled to them (especially young children). If the parent tries to teach something, such as creating healthy habits of reading the Bible every day, but the child never sees the parent doing it, they’re not going to see that the parent is serious about how important it is.
