November 1, 2024 at 11:32 am #188798Happy Halloween, You’d better watch out… the roleplay has gone crazy and it’s a struggle to keep up.

November 1, 2024 at 11:50 am #188810Fun fact: Halloween is actually a Christian holiday. Or at least it was. Take back Halloween! Also, I want to burn stuff now. 😃🔥
Oh, that sounds so cool! I love capes. My costume turned out well too. I actually managed to get my hair in a decent faux bob. IÂ got 136 pieces of candy. One house passed out Ghirardellis chocolate.

Aw that must have looked so cute. Speaking of which, I could do that with my hair… most of my hair is chopped off, so I bet a styled look would be easy to pull off.

Oh wow, that’s the jackpot. You’re lucky to get there before all the chocolate was gone.

November 1, 2024 at 1:47 pm #188867Okay.
That was somethin’ else.
I’m not sure what to think of this. On the one hand, I kinda appreciate his zeal. On the other hand, I feel like going full on Pyro and making a show of burning Disney characters might be funny in a dark kinda way, but it’s also likely to alienate non-Christians cause then they’re like “oh no, I can’t trust Christians cause they’re crazy people with flamethrowers who like to burn logos like the Palestinians burn Israeli flags.”
Like, if he’s gonna go after Disney, why not go after Universal, Dreamworks, Illumination, etc.? Notice he was burning well-known characters, not the ones from the modern junky movies, which is basically saying (to me anyway) “Well, I just think all their stuff is bad, even the halfway decent ones.” (Not arguing that those movies were in the good category, just that they came from time periods where it was more likely for them to not be pushing some agenda as much.)
I don’t know about you, but as much as I hate Disney’s bad plotwriting and social-political views nowadays, setting their stuff on fire is not gonna help, and if anything might have the opposite effect sometimes.
Let’s take something worse. Let’s talk about something a bit more…..divisive. Ellette and I both agree that the Harry Potter story universe has a type of magic we don’t agree with, and Whaley doesn’t mind it. Now, I’ve got a Fantastic Beasts Lego set that my neighbor bought me years ago. I didn’t ask for it or anything, it was just a random gift. It’s been relegated to a parts junkyard now, but most of it is still there in one piece. I’m not going to bring it to a bonfire and burn it just cause it’s from a story that I think has dark concepts. It’s a Lego. It’s only evil if someone uses it for evil (and how, exactly, do you do that with Legos, may I ask? Lol)
Or how about the video games? Is there anyone on in this site who thinks I’m gonna burn in hell just because I like Halo or Team Fortress with all their violent connotations? No! (At least I hope not, else there’s a serious issue lol.) Same thing about the Legos applies here. I’m not going around literally taking people out with a sniper rifle for no apparent reason just cause it looks kinda fun to go shooting around in a fictional warzone.
also in this year’s video, the dude was smoking a cigar, and that makes me less likely to take him seriously cause it’s clear he doesn’t pay much attention to his health, so……
All this to say, I think he’s got an idea but is a little extremist. Burning his symbol into the ground was SO cool though. That I can wholeheartedly get behind.

November 1, 2024 at 1:56 pm #188870Okay, okay, he’s making an almost funny jab at things. So, backstory:
most of the time when he tries to do things like speak out against something that Disney did that was really wrong, (like making movies where homosexual relationships are encouraged) or saying that this or that was wrong that so and so did, or anything like that, people sending in hate mail saying, “If you hate it so much you might as well burn it to the ground!”
He tried to explain that this wasn’t what he meant, but no one will listen and everyone just twists his words to say that he said something he totally didn’t, and say that he’s a hater and just burns things.
So then, he was like, “okay. I will”
As for the cigar, that’s because a lot of people call him a backwoods redneck, so he was doing it to go with the “character” he was being.
Here’s the first video he ever did, and it has a little of the backstory.

November 1, 2024 at 1:59 pm #188872@ellette-giselle very helpful backstory.
I was a little concerned, but now at least it’s funny.
Still a little traumatizing for new Christians and such if you don’t know the context though lol

November 1, 2024 at 2:07 pm #188875Yeah, it’s funny and I enjoy watching fire, but the actual meaning of the video is too hateful for me. Disney is pretty selfish and pandering, I agree with him. But this guy seems like he has a lot of emotions pent up inside him, like a lot of chronically opinionated people. I can easily picture him trying to convince children that Frozen is of the devil.
It just… really makes me uncomfortable. Just thinking about it right now makes me uncomfortable.

Ahh 🤣 *tells myself not to say anything*

Very true, very cool. I would do something like that with the proper supplies, just a small fire symbol, but I live right next to a fire station.

Devote reddamus!November 1, 2024 at 2:11 pm #188879@theducktator Well, other than that.
I think that falls less in the realm of “deadly sin” and more “proving yourself as an annoying miscreant.”

November 1, 2024 at 2:16 pm #188882@whalekeeper no offense to HP fans or any series really. Just had to use something that I’ve seen split families and friendships, and I think that’s horrible.
Personally, I take the stance of “You can like whatever the Saxton Hale you like, as long as it’s not controlling you and it’s not encouraging you to try any stuff (magic, murder, substance abuse, you name it) in the real world. Just don’t push it on me, and I won’t push anything on you.”
I’ve come to the conclusion that when we get to Heaven, there’s always gonna be that one thing we look back on that’s gonna make us be like “Why the HECK were we into that? That was junk!”

November 1, 2024 at 2:24 pm #188889Just look it up and watch from 2018 to now. They each have a little piece of backstory, if you want to know.
