@the_lost-journal I heard that word and could only think of a quote from a character I used for a fanfic. This is him introducing himself in his canon work:
Hey look, buddy, I’m an Engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like “What is beauty?”, because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. Fr’instance, how am I going to stop some big meanie from tearing me a structurallysuperfluous new behind?
The answer…
…use a gun. And if that don’t work…. …use more gun. Like this heavy caliber, tripod-mounted, little ol’ number designed by me…..Built by me……and you’d best hope… not pointed at you.
(cue gunshot noises as his little sentries single-handedly defeat an entire enemy team)
@theshadow will get it if no one else does lolWhere'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
October 26, 2024 at 11:14 am #188348Sorry for taking so long to reply, if you read my other message you would understand!
Ok here is my WIP in a short.
There is a kingdom far away from any modern civilization, it is near South America on an island. The island is covered in mountains which covers it and keeps it hidden. (There is also some magic involved, but thats not till later.) And the kingdom on the island is behind in modern technology. There is a royal family and many cities in side that kingdom, the kingdom is called The Kingdom of Kaimor! (its also the name of my WIP.) There are two kids in the family (the royal one.) the eldest child named Thomas, and the youngest child Ruth.
Now quick thing about the background of the plot. I have humanoid animal people in this kingdom, each are considered humans just there like a different race of animal. (As how there is different skin color in the world.) For instance the humanoids have their own cities each, but everybody is welcomed to each city! (Except for two, but that doesn’t matter now.) Ok so there is also this thing called The fallen! They are evil kind of monster versions of the humanoids, this can only happen to the animal humanoids. It is where the animal people either whenever they want can choose to become this, or they can fall into it by being overwhelmed by emotion. And you might think “Why would they want to become a monster and lose most of their control!?” Well I’m glad you asked! When you become a fallen you lose most if not all human in you. Like how I have one race called the Eidechsen (Lizard people) normally they eat cooked meat walk on two legs and can speak there native tongue, English and Portuguese. (The main languages.) But when they become fallen they walk on all fours, only speak their native tongue (which is lizard.) they will attack people and eat raw meat. But you become stronger, faster and more wild and animalistic, again this can’t happen to normal people that aren’t animal humanoids.
Now the plot! There is a leader to these fallen named Benedict, but he is only know as The King of the Fallen. He is the only fallen who has complete power but complete control over himself and other fallen. He is beginning to build an army to destroy Kaimor (If you want to know why I will post his backstory on my hall of characters!) But Ruth and Thomas are trying to stop him, but even though they are royalty, its harder to convince people that this mostly perfect kingdom, darkness is on the rise!
And if you would like some more world build I would gladly tell you! (If you’d like!)
Thanks for listening!

October 27, 2024 at 5:52 pm #188422I would love to talk more. Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I was on a trip. Anyway, I’m an Anglican. Since you’re a Catholic, does that mean you celebrate all the random holidays like Candlemas and Michaelmas and Ascension? No one I know beyond my church does. Your WIP sounds interesting. I don’t have much to say about my WIP, because I was sick of the ones I was writing, so I started a new one. I’m on page 7, and I don’t know all the characters, or my world’s political system, or even the plot.
.
So it’s a ROMANCE now?!?!?! Tag me if you post it!!!!!

October 27, 2024 at 8:38 pm #188430@the_lost-journal ok!!
so it’s basically like a “speculative fanfiction” of world history. Basically, what if instead of the Earth being one planet, it was a galaxy, and its countries and stuff are all different planets? So instead of sea battles there are space battles and that kind of thing. All that is more worldbuilding than anything else, I only have one story set in this universe so far and it takes place in more or less modern times.
Also there are a bunch of different half-human half-animal creatures that live in this hypothetical galaxy:
- Changelings are just like humans but their eyes are like cats’ and they can change color and disappear like chameleons or cuttlefish.
- Drachenheul have furry dragonlike wings and the tails of wolves. They also have paws for feet.
- Ornithiforms have feathers, wings, birdlike tails, and talons.
- Suileans look like humans, except they have beetle-like wings and elytra covering on their backs, and the pupils of their eyes are shaped like hexagons.
- Salamandrion are part dragon, part salamander, and they are always wearing protective suits that fully cover their bodies, because they’re from a hot, lava-covered planet and will get too cold and die outside of it if they’re not protected.
- Arcturans are strong beings who have thick fur and claws like bears.
- Argonites have the tails of crocodiles or sharks, as well as claws and a few gill slits on their necks.
- Ailurids have the ears of cats, tails, and fur.
- Vulpines are like Ailurids but replace the cat with a fox.
- Sunekite have the lower bodies of snakes (except they still have legs)
- Ratta have long mouselike tails and nimble paw-feet. They’re also shorter than the other types.
- Of course, there are also ordinary human beings, and also lots of different kinds of hybrids cause the species are all related and are descended from my world’s version of Adam and Eve.
I’ve done some drawings of them, here’s my story’s protagonists–a Changeling/human hybrid and an Argonite. (They’re not on good terms right now, but that’s cause they just properly met and he’s annoyed at her for trying to kill him earlier….lol)
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
October 27, 2024 at 8:46 pm #188431Hey! It’s ok, take your time! Oh and Thats super cool that you’re an anglican! I don’t imagine it being to different! And yes I celebrate all three!
Thank you, I know how it feels to scrap stories and to cut things. I had a couple stories that I don’t even rememberer what I was doing with them!

October 27, 2024 at 9:13 pm #188432wowwowWOW! I love your world build! It reminds me of one of my WIPS (minus the animal people.) And the people remind me of my races in Kaimor!
Salamandrion are part dragon, part salamander, and they are always wearing protective suits that fully cover their bodies, because they’re from a hot, lava-covered planet and will get too cold and die outside of it if they’re not protected.
This reminds me of the Eidechse (I- DECK- SA), They are lizard/salamander like people who can walk in fire unharmed! They like to eat meat and bugs, (With some fruit. But not a lot…) Their favorite food being bug stew. And there name is the German word for lizard, because they are inspired by a real type of salamander that lives in Germany, its skin can withstand the heat of fire and they mainly make there homes in burning logs.
Argonites have the tails of crocodiles or sharks, as well as claws and a few gill slits on their necks.
Thats a little similar to the Arraia (UH- HIGH- UH), They are based off sting rays! Their name is the Portuguese name for sting ray. They can gracefully swim through water and can easily breathe under water and on land. they don’t look like much of a sting ray minus their tale, their tale is identical same powers and everything. They eat fish and crustaceans. They are fast swimmers.
Ailurids have the ears of cats, tails, and fur.
They 100% remind me of the Pardalis, They are cat like people who have teeth, claws, ears, a tail and eyes like a cat. They live in the jungle and can climb trees. They eat fish and birds, and can see in the dark. Plus love the thrill of the hunt.

Very good, and if you enjoy this I can send you a few others I love of theirs. The one with Nate and his daughters is great.

October 27, 2024 at 10:21 pm #188437Cool discussion on 50 Shades, I’ve been exploring the 2010s romance/dystopia through video essays for some time now, and that was one of them. What a freak of nature. XD I’m disappointed with Wilson’s take on Hunger Games though, just read an article on his opinion and it was very shallow. Wilson is one of those people I have mixed opinions and can never make up my mind about.

October 28, 2024 at 7:57 am #188451I myself enjoyed the first hunger games. (I hope to continue but I’m doing them a little bit at a time)
However, I went into it after having heard several things of Nate’s on Hunger Games and several things from other people just really taking it down. So I want into it prepared to hate it, and actually found that it wasn’t as bad as I had decided it was going to be. However, I do agree on some of the points he makes about it, while other points I disagree on.
Glad you liked it!

October 28, 2024 at 10:52 am #188467Yeah I’m not a huge fan or critic of Hunger Games. A lot of the appeal for teens is drama/gore thrill, but to just dismiss it because the protagonist has an overwhelming survivor mind defeats the point of her character. You feel me?
