So, Chase has two book ideas rolling around… Then that would make The Shyiad kinda like an origin story, explaining the second.
Aaah, got it! Makes sense!!
Yeah, don’t blaim you. The Shyiad is kinda just a coming of age fantasy while the Black Wolf is kinda cryptid genre. And I personally find cryptid stories often go too far.
I don’t mind cryptids 😄 Actually I’m less drawn towards the concept of adventurer/journalist discovers a scary, mysterious creature isn’t what people think. And seriously, please don’t think it’s a bad concept, because it’s not. That’s just my personal preference, like how I prefer rivals to lovers over enemies to lovers. I believe it is totally done well at times, but the vibes don’t pull me in as quickly, and that’s just me.
Idk, one minute I think this is a great idea, the next I don’t know.
Girl, if you’re into the premise, I see absolutely no reason to drop it ❤️
No matter what, Chase will be a forest ranger, and he will protect children from harm with everything he’s got. And the animals will forever be his friends.

April 24, 2024 at 12:45 pm #179117@rae what’s wrong with cryptid stories? Not that I’m defending them. I don’t even know what they are besides stories of someone looking for a mysterious animal.
Maybe don’t look them up if you find so much dark stuff, and write the story a different way, looking at something else for inspiration. “Adventurer/journalist discovers a scary, mysterious creature isn’t what people think” (to quote @whalekeeper ) doesn’t seem like it has to be a super dark story.

April 24, 2024 at 3:11 pm #179130To be clear, I don’t mind cryptid stories/books either as far as concept, it’s just more than not I find they go too far. Granted, I haven’t read a vast number of anything cryptid so take it with a grain of salt.
The premise needs work, and that’s what I’ll say for now.
I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with this story. I do have a not so dark idea, but it’s one of those where the reader will probably feel disappointed, and my third option is too supernatural for my liking. I’ve got a fourth, but I need to think it through more thoroughly. Once I have, I’ll probably post all my ideas here.

#AnduthForever (hopefully 💕)April 25, 2024 at 11:55 am #179180@esther-c I love the story story/novella idea…a lot!
But I am going to maybe go against the norm here😂
…
I think it would be more powerful if she wasn’t redeemed.
…
Hear me out.
If she was a fairly good person in the beginning but allowed jealousy to consume her, though she can be redeemed if you want, it’s also important to remember that not everyone gets redeemed.
I know it’s hard (trust me…*sniffs* Hans *sniffs* 😢), but that was just my thought on this story.
You can do whatever you feel like needs to be done :3
either way, I like the idea!!

April 25, 2024 at 1:26 pm #179181That was actually my original idea… 😏 I might try it. I definitely agree that it could be really powerful.
We’ll see where the story takes me I guess. I’ll probably try writing it sometime soon. Maybe next month? Although I’m gonna be working on a different WIP over the summer. The plot takes place during the school year, but I feel like it’d be such a good summer read honestly. 😂 Though i’m probably biasedddd 🙃XD
