As for your question about Riker and Leon…
I honestly don’t know if I could choose one over the other. They’re both incredibly diverse characters and I love both of them so much!! 💕 I love how their journey through pain, guilt, grief and anger brings eventually brings them to God, and the friendship that the two develop after everything they’ve gone through is so beautiful <3

Here’s a little scene I wrote recently. (And it may have been inspired by the fact that my sister and I watched all three High School Musical movies over the last weekend… XD)

The rest of the morning went wonderfully and Ami was never lacking in smiles. She helped Adalynn and Kailani clean up the decorations and store the food once most everyone had left.
“Where did everyone else go?” Ami asked.
“The gym,” Kailani said. “I think they’re playing basketball.”
“I think I’ll go say hi real quick. Do you need any more help?”
“No, I think we’re good,” Adalynn answered with a smile.
Ami hurried down the halls, pushing open the heavy gym doors. The squeaking of shoes against the floor met Ami’s ears as she walked in, sitting on the bottom bleacher and watching them scrimmage.
Her brothers, her dad, Skylar, Malyk, Lukas, Ev, and Kai were playing four on four. They didn’t notice her at first, but she didn’t mind. She enjoyed watching them goof off and have fun. Things got especially exciting when Sky decided to climb on Destry’s shoulders and get a slam dunk, which ensued a friendly fight over whether that was cheating or not.
“How about we ask Ami?” Fynn said, shooting her a smirk.
“I think it totally counts.”
The other team—Ev, Malyk, Lukas, and Kai—didn’t like that answer.
“You can’t even play basketball,” Ev said, a playful twinkle in his eye.
“Yeah I can.” Ami hurried onto the court, catching the ball that Ev threw at her. She dribbled up to the hoop, jumped, and shot. The ball landed between the backboard and the pole. “Okay maybe I’m a little rusty.”
Ev raised an eyebrow. “A little rusty?”
She tried not to laugh, but a little smile still escaped.
After they managed to get the ball back down, Ev handed Ami the basketball and stepped behind her. “Alright, let’s teach you how to shoot the ball right.”
She bit her lip, holding back a giggle as he positioned her at the free throw line.
“Loosen up a bit and don’t put your feet so close together.”
She did as he directed.
“Ok, now…” he put his arms around her, positioning her arms. Then he moved her arms up and down, demonstrating the right motion. “Just do that, and use your legs too.”
She met his eyes for a moment, but caught a raised-eyebrows tucked-chin look from her father. Ev seemed to have also. He took a step back, pushing a hand through his thick, dark hair. “Go ahead.”
She wet her lips… bent her knees… and threw.
Whoosh.
Nothing but net.
“Told you I was a little rusty,” Ami said as she walked by, her head held high. “I just needed a little practice.”
“Ha, ha, sure.” Ev raised his eyebrows, flashing a smirk.
She laughed softly, seating herself on the bleachers.
“Hey, what are you sitting out for?”
“I don’t want to break my winning streak.”
Ev shook his head, laughing as he jogged to join the others.
