I have characters to talk about from a newer WIP that I’m not currently working on but hope to work on eventually 😃

                  anyways…here we go.

                  MC #1:

                  Zephaniah Zachariah Wagner

                  23 years old

                  Jewish

Born November 11th, 1921 in Germany

                  Character Arc: Positive

Wavy dark brown hair, light brown eyes, lightly tanned skin. Average height and build.

Raised as an Orthodox Jew, Zephaniah’s religion means everything to him, and with his father and mother both children of Rabbis, he was well-versed in the Torah by the mere age of 13. With both of his parents and one younger sister, Zephaniah loves his family, including his extended family members.

Zephaniah learned piano through his father, and he dreamed of becoming a concert pianist…until the Nazis came.

In early 1944, Zachariah’s parents and younger sister were all taken, Zachariah only saved because he was with a friend and not at home with his family.

Alda Mescher, a rich German woman, offers Zachariah a job in May 1944, and Zachariah is able to pose as a German Piano Tutor to her two teenage daughters in order to save his life.

But Zachariah can’t blind his eyes from what’s going on around him…he can’t stop thinking about what his family must be suffering…and he can’t help but wonder where God is.

He knows the Torah…he knows God is supposed to deliver his children, his Israel. But if God isn’t saving them…if God isn’t doing what he says he’s supposed to…is the Torah wrong?

Zachariah can’t follow the dietary laws to protect himself from suspicion.

God doesn’t seem to be moving.

So Zachariah begins to question everything he’s been taught. And if the Torah is wrong…if Zachariah can’t believe what he’s always been taught to believe is truth…

                  …then who is he?

(relation to someone/something y’all know: one of Leon’s cousins)

and the 2nd, and last, MC:

                        Conrad Johann Mescher

                        20 years old

                        Polish

                        Born January 1st, 1924

                        Character Arc: Positive

Curly blonde hair, pale skin, bright green eyes, average build and a shorter height

                        SS 2nd Lieutenant

Conrad was born in Western Poland to doting Polish parents. His father died when he was young, and thus Conrad doesn’t remember him, but his mother was wonderful…more than wonderful, even. Life was good and even grand.

                        Until the Nazis came.

Conrad, a 16-year-old youth, was pried from the loving arms of his mother and sent to Germany as a part of the Nazis’ Lebensborn program.

Told he was German and had always been German and that his name was Conrad Johann Mescher rather than Conrad Joseph Bartosz, Conrad was beaten when he didn’t comply with what they wanted.

                        And slowly, bit by bit…

…Conrad forgot his birth name, forgot his mother’s name, and forgot his homeland.

He only holds onto vague memories, and even then, they are blurry.

He was brought into the home of Martin and Alda Mescher, a rich Nazi couple who pretended that Conrad was their own. Though Martin was (and is) cruel, Alda tried to love Conrad as much as she could…but even then, it wasn’t enough.

Conrad keeps his distance from others to protect himself. He flinches from anyone’s touch, tenses at clipped tones, becomes defensive when snuck up on, avoids all eye contact, and cowers at the sight of a raised hand. He can barely even shake someone’s hand without flinching from the contact.

Conrad doesn’t even know why all the time because he suffers from Dissociative Amnesia.

Deep inside, Conrad wants to be loved. Deep inside, Conrad wants to be innocent again. Deep inside, Conrad wants to know who he really is.

But if he doesn’t know who his mother is…where he was born…what his story is…who is he in the first place?

I’mma just put my question here cuz I don’t want to make a whole new topic for it….

                                  Hey guys!!

So I’ve been struggling lately with incorporating my setting into the story. I’ve noticed that my story could probably take place somewhere else and not a lot would change. Obviously some things would, but the story isn’t really connected enough to the setting. I also want my storyworld to have more depth and be unique, while also still keeping the aspects I like about it. I’ve done some worldbuilding before, but only with fantasy worlds. This one is dystopian. I’m not even sure where to start. Any tips on worldbuilding? And any tips on how to incorporate the setting into the story?
