@smiley MILEY!!! Hi, hello. <3 How’s writing and life in general going? đ©·đ©·
I was wondering if you’d like to hear about some things I’ve been working on bc I gotta talk to somebody, and I know you said you thought you’d end up liking Erich, so I wanted to talk to you and get your opinions on some stuff if you were ok with/wanted to do it âšđ
December 20, 2023 at 5:53 pm #170504@freedomwriter76
I’m doing good, been kind of tired and just been thinking about somethings but I’m also growing closer to the Lord and doing more Bible research
In writing I’m making some big metal progress and for the first time I really love the characters in my books and just a lot of aspects, usually I always think that other stories are better but for the first time I’m really enjoying this story
And yessss I’d love to hear about whatever you got to say XD and I’ll try my best to give a well balanced opinion LOL
Also how are you doing?
Do me a favorâŠ. Tell Cress I meant it

@smiley I’m so happy to hear thatđ©· I hope you feel less tired soon *hugs*
Girl, I am sooooo excited and happy to hear that you are loving your new story. It always helps when you love the story, and I’m so happy for you! <3 (I hope I’ll hear more about this story soon! đ Please? XD)
I’m doing good. Learning to trust God in the midst of it all and trying to focus on the good, especially during this season of joy đ©·âš I’m doing better, I can at least tell you that <3 Thx for askingđ©·đ©·
HMM…now where do I start?
Alright, so I was struggling to figure out why Erich treats Riker with so much contempt but doesn’t honestly really act like that to others, and my Mom helped me figure it out yesterday…
You know how Riker has his loving Mother, Sister, and Wife (plus his kids, too?)? Well….my mom helped me figure out (and she didn’t even know the main theme of the book or much about Erich, but it was PERFECTION!!!) the reason why Erich treats Riker with contempt.
Why?? đ
Erich is jealous of the love Riker receives and is thus trying to prove (by trying to do his job better, being mean to Riker, trying to be better than Riker, etc.) that he’s just as worthy of love.
(He doesn’t know that Riker feels unloved too and Riker has even been abused by his father)
Either way, the thing Erich is trying to prove throughout the book is that he’s worthy of love and everything he does is because he is ACHING for the kind of love Riker has from his mother, sister, wife, and kids.
(here’s a quick snippet from the actual book to kinda show how I kinda show that a bitâšđ):
Erich’s gaze darted around the room.
Hans and his wife Eleanor, dancing the night away.
Felix Baumann, Hansâ older brother, and Frida, his wife, chatting and laughing with two of their sons accompanying.
Other officers chatted with their families or waltzed with their wives, yet Erichâs gaze fixated on Riker.
Riker, whose sophisticated wife stayed by his side with full love in every word and movement. Riker, who laughed with his sister that teased him like only someone that loved you could. Riker, who was watched by his mother who stood with adoration in her eyes.
A burning twinge twisted Erichâs chest.
Whether it’s the promotion he seeks, the fact that he’s willing to spy on Fin just to earn Hans’ approval, or everything else he does to seek (mostly Hans’) notice, or anything in between, Erich is on a quest for…well, love itself.Â
(and now I love him so much more than I ever have befoređđ©·)
so there’s that.
I’ve also realized that Erich gets uncomfortable talking about families and especially mothers (which would require an explanation of his backstory, come to think of it, lol!) and will even get ANGRY at anyone that brings Mothers up.
Basically, his birth mother gave him up as a baby (out of her love for him, but Erich thinks she didn’t want him) and he’s been estranged from his adoptive mother.
(I can give his backstory if you’d like to hear the whole thing. Fair warning tho…it’s long đ )
and anywho, that’s a couple things.
What do you think? (Especially about the 1st thing, bc I was really happy Mom helped me figure that out and I was wondering if you thought it’d work (especially with the main theme of the novel being God’s Love))
OH, and here’s Erich’s new Aestheticâšđ
December 20, 2023 at 8:00 pm #170526@freedomwriter76
I know, I know XD I want to write, and I have an idea for a scene I want to write today for Leon/Rikerâs 3rd bookđ€«
Oh, really?! Cool! Tag me if you post it pls! Also, I haven’t been getting notifs for some of your posts, so if I don’t respond that might be it. đ
Thanks! XD
Oh, yes, draw bucky! I’m currently working on a Mavrel fanart project! It’s all these little paper circles with the different avengers symbols on it. Rn I have made cap’s shield, and the emblem on Bucky’s arm. I daresay the one for Bucky turned out super nice đ
Also, my sisters home from college! We watched black panther together yesterday, and it was super good. We both really like Ross, and are mortified by the fact he will turn into red hulk in captain america: Brave New World…  đŁ WHY?! He’s so nice’n sweet and deserves nothing of the sort, besides red hulk is gross. Have you seen the trailor btw? They changes Sam’s suit and it looks a lot better. I don’t think it will be as good as the winter soldier movie, but idk, maybe I’ll end up seeing it if the reviews are good.
Today we’re watching the first avengers movie!!! We both love it so far, and although parts of it are cheesy, it’s kinda super relaxing to watch? Like because it’s a little more ridiculous than say the infinity saga, and not really sad, it’s super enjoyable and just what we needed over break. We’re halfway through, and she said she really feels for Banner despite being grossed out by hulk XD
I really like it, and I’d never be watching these if it weren’t for you! It’s a total answer to prayer, because when my anime obsesion faded I felt a little lost… and prayed for another obsession to keep me busy having fun. I never thought it would be Marvel, but here we are! đ
Are you enjoying break?

December 20, 2023 at 10:32 pm #170548Oh wow, you parents being grandparents is weird O_O
Nicknames is great, I need to listen to it again, so glad you like it! Oh, I like run the world too.
I’ll have to check that one out, I haven’t listened to much TOP other than their really big hits.
Yeah! Totally recommend it, along with a big dose of caution. BTS is a pretty safe place to start, but always read lyrics first and watch music videos at your own risk đ Imo, their whole vibe just feels a lot more appropriate than other kpop groups, even though they tow the line sometimes. Some of the other groups just feel… idk. Like their trying way too hard to get a certain kind of fangirl đł
My personal favorite of theirs is Permission to dance, but Dynamite is also really good. I really like life goes on, but it’s in Korean with a little English. It’s still super enjoyable to listen to, and I’ve looked up the translation to make sure it’s clean. I listen to kpop especially if I’m sad and need a pick me up, it just sounds so happy.

*sobbing some more*
He’s jealous of love!! he just wants to be loved!! He needs Jesus’s love but he searching for it in all the wrong places!!
Why???!!! *cries some more*
also his not liking to talk about mothers is respectful being his past, but then he has to see Riker and his loving mother, like I’d have trouble too
also he blames himself, like that both of his mothers didn’t care about him, that he was the problem?
But girl!! that’s such a powerful character story and truthfully this might make Erich my fav
*Leon and Jakob look at me*
Actually, I love all of them!!
and yess I must hear his full backstory!!
okay so off-topic, but have you seen Girl Meets World or Boy Meets World (there my comfort show and I grew up watching them)
P.S. I just got age of ultron on DVD…

So… I’ll be the one to break the wonderful news to you
there are two people with the last name of Ross, one is in black panther and is super sweet and everyone loves him and the other… is in Civil War and is terrible!!
he was mean to all the Avengers (and absolutely haunted Wanda, my poor girl)
so you’ll be relieved to hear that your Ross does not turn into the red hulk but instead terrible ross does

@mineralizedwritings Haha, that scene is still a work in progress, lol, but I’ll probably share a chapter I wrote for Out of Love, mu current WIP, todayđ
OOH, the fanart project sounds epic; I can’t wait to see itâš
Aww, great!! I’m so glad y’all are together for the holidaysđ©·đ©· Miley’s right tho, Thaddeus Ross, the one in Civil War, is the one that becomes Red Hulk, I believe, not Everett Ross, the guy in Black Panther…bc I like Everett too đ I have not! I didn’t know the trailer was even out yet!! Right now, I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping they don’t ruin Bucky in Thunderboltsđ
Yesssss, Avengers is amazing!! âšâš (it’s my BFF’s fav Marvel movie đ). Glad she likes Bruce, bc I’m not a fan, lol…idk, just never felt attached to Bruce as much as I am to characters like Steve, Bucky, Nat, etc.
Aww, well I’m glad I could help in that wayđ©·đ©·
Yes, I am enjoying my break very much! XD It’s been fun, and I’ve gotten quite a bit of writing done!! I’ve written 35 pages already for Out of Love and I started writing it seven days ago!đ©·âšđ
Sadly, Broken Shackles (Leon/Riker’s 2nd novel) is going super, super slow, but at least I’m writing something now đ đ

I knowwww, and it’s so sad đ I’m really beginning to feel for Erich, and just…he’s so broken and lost and doesn’t even realize itđđ©·
Yea, I’d have trouble too if I were himđ
also he blames himself, like that both of his mothers didnât care about him, that he was the problem?
A little, at least at some point, yes. He thinks he’s unlovable and nobody has ever wanted him, so he’s trying to prove that he can be loved and is just as worthy of love as Riker and anyone else
I’m glad you think it’s powerful; he always felt kinda flat, but not anymoređ©·đ©·đ
I have no idea what those shows are, lol, so no đđ
and ooh, cool!!! I have all of the Avengers and Captain America movies on DVD and I love it
đâšđ©·
and here’s Erich’s full backstory in a nutshell:
Born April 23rd, 1921, to Otto Adolf Bassermann and Hilde Meridith Bassermann, a poor German couple.
Given up to an Orphanage by his mother when he was 2 months old. His mother ran away from her abusive husband, and since she was unable to work due to an injury her husband caused, she was unable to work and thus couldnât provide. She left Erich in a basket with his first and middle names on a scrap of paper, along with two letters: one for the orphanage, and one for Erich/his family when he got older.
At the age of 8, Erich was finally adopted by Jedediah Yosef Abrams and Eden Miriam Abrams, a middle-class Jewish family that already had 5 kids (3 older than Erich, 2 younger).
He met Esther Elizabeth Cohen, his best friend, only weeks later.
Erichâs family was a little strict in his (born rebellious) eyes, but they loved Erich so much, and Erich loved them back.
When Erich was 17, in 1938, a year before the war began, he went to college and was met with the ideas of Darwinism, Atheism, Evolution, and Racial Theory.
He ended up dropping out of college, but was filled with questions that no one in his community wanted to answer.
The All-Jewish community knew he no longer held their beliefs, and, with his family feeling powerless to stop them and thinking all would calm down eventually, Erich was kicked out by the Rabbi in charge of the community.
Feeling abandoned and betrayed, Erich changed his last name to Braun and vowed to do anything to hurt the people that hurt him.
2 years later, in 1940, Erich joined the SS, using forged paperwork to prove his ancestry was âAryanâ back to 1750, as was required of an SS officer.
In January 1943, Erich married Ellie Hannah Schindler.
In January 1944, their son, Abel, was born, and Erich was transferred to work at a nearby prison, where he met Hans, Kurt, Hilda, and Riker.
He reunites with Esther in April 1944.

@lightoverdarkness6 @mineralizedwritings @rae @smiley @keilah-h @acancello @koshka @elishavet-pidyon @savannah_grace2009 @esther-c @loopylin @anyone-else
Here’s a chapter from my current WIP, Out of Love, that I wanted to share!!
đđ©·âš
Voices echoed; laughter filled the room.
Erich leaned back against the wall of the large ballroom, uniform cap in hand, slapping it against his knee over and over again.
Alone.
Ellie cited Abel being unable to be left alone as an excuse to not attend the party, even though Erich knew her mother or even one of her many sisters wouldnât have minded watching the baby for one evening. They loved Abel and they loved Ellie, yet his wife had refused.
What excuse would she come up with next?
Erichâs gaze darted around the room.
He flattened his blonde locks and positioned his cap atop his head. He shoved a door open and marched into the chilly outdoors.
Heâd left his heavy coat inside. Bah, what did it matter?
Erich pushed his arms and pumped his legs.
âForget about it, forget about itâ, he told himself, over and over again, running, shoving thoughts he didnât desire from his mind.
âErich no longer shares our beliefsâŠhe must leave.â
âErich, you have to leave. Maybe this will all calm down-â
NoâŠno. No!
He wasnâtâŠthat wasnât his life. He was better. Stronger. No longer the naĂŻve child that once roamed wherever he pleased and believed whatever anyone told him.
Just his luck, Esther coming back to remind him of things heâd rather forget. But was it fair to pin the entire blame on his old friend?
Erich groaned and shoved open the door of a building full of distracting noise. He wiped sweat from his forehead, set down his cap, and set himself in a chair by the bar. âI need something.â
A woman behind the counter turned to face him with a mere shrug. âWhat will it be this time?â
âThe strongest you have.â
The woman rose an eyebrow; she set down a glass. âAre you sure about that?â
âYes,â Erich snarled, ânow get it. I donât have all night.â
The woman shrugged, turned around, and retreated into the back.
Erich sighed; his fingers brushed down and played with his blonde locks.
âWhy do I have to leave!? Why will no one give me any answers?â
Why did he still think of things he ached to forget?
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Erich groaned and pounded his knuckles against his temples.
âThat doesnât seem very comfortable,â hands rested on Erichâs, pulling his fists away from his head, âand this is probably better for your wellbeing. Thereâs no need to hit yourself.â
Erichâs blue eyes met a manâs gentle gray.
The man smiled gently. âThere. Thatâs better, isnât it?â
Erichâs eyes scanned the manâs uniform; his gaze shot up. âIâve seen you beforeâŠHans knows you. You were at the meeting we had here to celebrate the FĂŒhrerâs birthday; youâreâŠyouâŠâ Oh, why couldnât he think of one name?
âFin MĂŒller. Youâre Erich Braun, correct?â
âYessir.â
A small smile twisted one side of Finâs mouth; he waved a hand in dismissal, sitting down in the chair at Erichâs side. âThereâs no need for the âsirâ. Thereâre no other officers around, or at least none that are sober enough to care.â
âYes, sir-Fin.â
Fin chuckled and faced one of the older men behind the counter. âIâll take the usual, please. And I will pay for Erichâs drink as well.â
âSir-â
Finâs gaze cut off Erichâs words; Fin rose a kind smile. âI may not drink, but why canât I treat you with a touch of kindness?â
âYouâre a superior officer. Youâre not supposed to care.â
âWell, I suppose Iâm an odd officer then. Thank you, sir.â Fin thanked, taking two glasses from one of the older bartenders. He handed the man a payment and slid Erichâs drink over. âIs there something that makes you think you donât deserve kindness?â
Erich shook his head, tipping up his glass. âNo.â
âHas anyone ever treated you with kindness? Perhaps your mother?â
Erich slammed down the glass with a thud. âIâve been treated with kindness before. Everyone has.â
Fin murmured something Erich couldnât quite discern.
Erich rolled his eyes and took a long sip, savoring the burn the alcohol left as it trailed down his throat. âBesides, is it even your business?â
âI suppose not.â Fin chuckled. âAlthough it doesnât hurt to ask.â
âWell, maybe you should keep to yourself,â Erich pulled a cigarette from one of his pockets, quickly lighting it, âand stay out of everyone elseâs business.â
Fin shrugged, taking a sip of his water. He set the glass down and faced Erich with a gentle smile. âWe can talk about something else if youâd like.â
âAnything else,â Erich thought, but he didnât voice such revealing words. Rather, he shrugged. âItâs up to you.â
Fin nodded, drumming his fingers on the edge of his glass.
Erich released a small stream of smoke from his mouth, pulling the cigar from his lips. âIf youâre so curious about me, why donât you talk about yourselfâŠsir?â
âI thought we were leaving behind the topic of families.â Fin replied with a playful smile.
âI-I didnât-â
âEasy, Erich,â Fin laid a soft hand on Erichâs shoulder, âI was only teasing. I know there are topics that some donât care to discuss. I respect that.â
âI donât care if you talk about your family.â Erich replied simply, taking several long sips of his drink.
When would it kick in?
âIâm surprised you arenât at the party that Felix Baumann held for all of the local officers.â
Erichâs fingers tightened around his glass. âI was. But whatâs the point in being there if youâre alone?â
Fin murmured in sympathy.
Erich gave him a quick glare, no longer caring that Fin was a superior officer. âWhat are you murmuring about?â
âI didnât attend for much the same reason, along with the fact that I had other duties to attend to.â
âIâm sure someone could have come with you.â
âIâm unmarried and I have no children; who would accompany me to a party held by Felix?â
Erich shrugged; he took another sip of his drink. âIâm sure you still would have been welcomed in.â
âAnd you werenât?â
Fury bubbled. Erich rose to his feet, knocking the barstool to the floor. âI told you to stay to your own business and stay out of mine.â He picked up the stool, took the last sip of his drink, and dropped his cigar into an ashtray. âGood night, sir.â
He marched away, dizzy, stumbling in his steps. Erich shoved the door open and marched out into the chilly April air.
What did Fin know?
He knew nothing, nothing about Erich and his life.
Erichâs fists clenched.
Heâd prove it.
Heâd prove it to them all.
(he’s probably my most mysterious MC yetđ)

@smiley ack, I forgot to also add this part đ
đ
At the orphanage, which was run by the Catholic church, Erich was taught about Christ, but when he was adopted by his Orthodox Jewish family, they told him the Messiah had not yet comeâŠand now, Erich believes that everyone was wrong all alongâŠGod doesnât exist at all.
