Hear, hear!
Wilhelm
Firstborn. That probably meant he had birthright privileges. Such trivial matters could not touch the gulf of rank between them, either widening or narrowing it. Wilhelm nodded politely but shrugged mentally.
At least “High Commander” sounded like an active role, unlike the lazybones titles some people used. Jasper was also armed, and he acted like he was familiar with his blade. The shape almost distracted Wilhelm, but he managed to keep his gaze fixed on the lordling’s eyes. He wasn’t sure he liked Jasper’s expression.
“Good to meet you, Wilhelm. Why did your father send you here?”
That was easy. Remember, easy and dignified.
“To prepare for holy service.” He tapped his own weapon’s hilt. The Kemp Arms were engraved there on the pommel, although it was really too small for anyone to notice. He smiled slightly. “Why were you sent?”
You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

Lois
“Yes. My mother and father and baby sister.” The way he had framed the question seemed a bit odd to Lois. “Don’t you have one?” he asked, slightly worried.

Flax
Flax toys with the buttered bread on his plate. Roughly half of the plate had been eaten, yet a dull ache still throbbed in the pit of his stomach. The tables noise had only gotten worse, and a by glance out the tall arched windows of the hall, night was obviously approaching. Dishes clanked further down, a pieces of others conversations could be heard. Talk of home, the journey ahead, and nerves of starting at a new school.
“Do you like your home?”
Though not aimed at him, the question pulls Flax out of his blank observation. He glances up to watch Moth converse with Lois.
“Yes. My mother and father and baby sister.” He frowns, looking slightly worried. “Don’t you have one?”
Flax listens in, pretending to busy himself with stacking his dirty dishes in a neat pile for the servants to take. The teacup inside the smallest bowl, the bowl on top of the next plate in size, etcetera.
