@Jenwriter17 I was away for the weekend but I still read the first 2 chapters of Esther and all. 😀 I noticed that too! Esther was beautifully submissive.

@skredder I thought it meant that he wanted to check on Esther by waiting somewhere where they were able to talk to each other.

That’s true; even after all that time of getting ready, it still must’ve been hard to adjust, but Esther still had Mordecai and she still obeyed him.

@jenwriter17  I thought Esther’s obedience was pretty awesome too, I love how she continued to obey Mordecai even after she was made queen.

I’m still a little bit disappointed that the real story of Esther isn’t quite like the Veggie Tales version. 😉

@kaya-young @jenwriter17 Yes!!! I’ve always loved the Veggie Tales version of Esther! <3

I have been reading along with the schedule. Thank you for organizing this, @jenwriter17.

I thought it was interesting that the king made an entire feast for Esther. Aptly called “the Feast of Esther.” 😛

                  I read the third chapter……

it’s interesting how angry people can get when there’s just that one person that won’t submit to them, despite the fact that everyone else was bowing to Haman.

What I think is interesting is that in the very last verse is says the city was confused/perplexed at Hamon’s order. Not just the Jews, but the city.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

It’s fascinating how much the king trusted Haman. The king just took his word, and handed over control (his signet ring) to Haman. He probably hid what exactly he was doing (killing all the Jews) from the king, and that’s why you see Haman and the king sitting down for a drink together while the rest of the city was thrown into confusion.

Or the king knew what Haman was doing and didn’t care. After all, this decree wouln’t hurt him or any-one he liked… Right?

I read the fourth chapter of Esther….

I think it was really sweet how much concern Esther showed for Mordecai when he was wearing the sackcloth and mourning about what was going to happen to her people. She sent him clothes so he didn’t have to wear the sackcloth. But when Mordecai asked her for help, she was obviously unsure and afraid, but understanding that she could save her people, she agreed to go to the king.

@Jenwriter17 I apparently have accidentally gotten a day behind because I read chapter three this morning. XD

@jenwriter17 Oh my goodness!  I have forgotten about this topic and gotten way behind!  Sorry. 🙁

But anyway, I just remembered something from a while back.  I looked up Xerxes (Ahasuerus) in the Encyclopedia Britannica once, and read that his wife ordered his entire brother’s family killed.  I’m sure it was speaking of Esther’s command that Haman’s family be executed, though it left out the part of the story that says Haman tried to kill her family first, making her sound like a bloodthirsty, horrible woman. 🙂  What’s interesting about that, though, is that it would seem Haman was the king’s brother!  That might make it more understandable that he would give him the large amounts of power?

@rochellaine huh, that is interesting…..and yeah that would make sense that if Haman was a relative of the king that he would give him more power.

                                  I read chapter 5 and 6……..

I wonder why Esther waited to tell the king her request until he and Haman were at her feast (and why she didn’t tell him the first time). I think maybe she was either nervous about it, or she was trying to please the king, get him in a good mood in prep for her request kinda thing.

I thought it was hilarious when Haman thought the king was wanting to honor him when instead it was Mordecai! 😀
