@pickupyourpenandwrite
@jane-mareeThose are both very interesting observations! When I first agreed to join in on this I wasn’t sure how well it would work out. I was kind of expecting for everyone to notice the same things. But it doesn’t look like that’s the case! Isn’t the Bible so cool like that? 20 different people can read a chapter in the Bible and no two people will have the exact same thoughts. ๐
and I was so confused
March 5, 2018 at 12:36 pm #65615@pickupyourpenandwrite Yeah, and it can be hard (I think I struggle with this sometimes) to follow God, knowing people might think we’re weird or different, when the Bible actually says were are a ‘peculiar people.’ But sometime people can think more highly of us because of what we do, like in Ruth’s case.
@jane-maree lol, yeah I’m shipping these two too. ๐
@notawriter yeah that is pretty cool! y’all are noticing things that I didn’t necessarily pick up on ๐Ruth was such a hard worker, and she wasted no time in getting food for her and Naomi. it didn’t say whether or not Naomi worked, but to me it sounds like Ruth was caring and providing for her. And caring for your parents when they’re not able to (even if it’s a mother-in-law i think) is blessed by God.

www.jennaterese.comMarch 5, 2018 at 4:52 pm #65633@NotAWriter yess! It’s really cool that there’s so much information that we can each see in it. ๐
@Jenwriter17 like, no kidding this is basically a love-at-first-sight story. xDWriting Heroes โฆ Writing Hope // janemareeauthor.com.au
March 5, 2018 at 5:15 pm #65639@jane-maree @jenwriter17 When I was little I liked the story but thought it a little strange that she had to ask him to marry her, since I’ve always liked the man to pursue the girl, but now when I read it I kept spotting little things that proved to me he had his eye on her all the time. ๐
- He noticed her as someone new and different
- He had heard of her and complimented/blessed her
- He protected her from the young men
- He “reached her parched corn” at mealtime.ย How sweet is that?!
- He secretly went to his buddies(servants) and told them to treat her better than everyone else!
If anyone thinks he married her just because it was the law, I’d like to show them this!!! ๐ ๐
Do you see any more examples that show he liked her?

March 5, 2018 at 5:21 pm #65641@Rochellaine yes! Agh, I love all those little things that he did. How he told his servants to pull out some of the pieces of their sheaves and drop them so she could pick them up. <3

www.jennaterese.comMarch 5, 2018 at 6:16 pm #65649@rochellaine Yeah, it was love at first sight! He fell head over heels for her. He even asked for her to glean in only his field with his maidens. He was smitten. ๐

March 6, 2018 at 12:11 am #65677@allofyouย Yes, Boaz was so smitten! Another thing I noticed was that even before he saw Ruth, he was still really nice and went to greet the harvesters.

http://www.encircledbygrace.com/March 6, 2018 at 5:24 pm #65707I read the third chapter…..
hehe, Naomi was a matchmaker in this chapter ๐ I like that Boaz didn’t want Ruth to go home empty-handed to Naomi, which shows he cared for both of them. That trait (that he cared for Ruth’s mother-in-law) is good to have in a husband or son-in-law.

*collapses from exhaustion* Finally, I have escaped school and found my way over here!
@jenwriter17 I just read the third chapter too. I thought it was cool how when Naomi told Ruth what to do about Boaz, she did it. Since she was a foreigner, she might not have known the traditions there, but it’s cool that Ruth trusted Naomi enough to know that she was looking out for Ruth. It must have taken a lot of courage to do something that unusual.March 6, 2018 at 7:08 pm #65714@waterlily Yes, it’s nice to see the close and trusting relationship between Naomi and Ruth, how they look out for each other. ๐

www.jennaterese.comMarch 8, 2018 at 4:31 pm #65906I read the fourth chapter of Ruth…
Even though Naomi had come across hard times with the death of her husband and two sons, God still blessed her by keeping Ruth with her to care for her, and eventually giving her a grandchild.

I read the first two chapters of Esther. I think that it was interesting that even though after Esther was chosen as queen, she still obeyed Mordecai as her father-figure. And I’m sure there was some risk to Mordecai standing in the courtyard checking on her. I’m sure not justย anybodyย was allowed to do that.

www.jennaterese.comMarch 11, 2018 at 11:13 pm #66388@jenwriter17 I’m going to be perfectly honest, I had forgotten what day it was. I always thought that Mordecai worked at the palace as a guard or something like that. What exactly does it men when it says that he sits in the king’s gate?
Esther, and Mordecai, saved the life of a king just had just been forced to marry. Although, after spending about ten months getting ready for a possible, maybe wedding, I guess they had time to adjust to the thought that it was going to happen. Still, I feel like Esther took the whole thing in stride and handled it well. She took advice and didn’t make a fool of herself.
