@jenwriter17Β So… What time will the discussion be? Is there going to be a set time?

You can pronounce it however you want.
March 1, 2018 at 8:36 pm #65191@dekreel I wasn’t going to set a time, unless everyone wanted to. We’d just post whenever we’d read the chapter, I guess.

March 2, 2018 at 2:44 am #65249That sounds like a good idea especially as it’s from a Biblical perspective and I love the story of Esther.
In English mode for a moment there I couldn’t decipher the dates! Is reading the passage today? π

www.jennaterese.comMarch 2, 2018 at 12:31 pm #65272Question, ladies…..
Today we were supposed to read Ruth chapter 1 and have discussion tomorrow. So, do we wanna just read today and not post any comments until tomorrow? Or have discussion on through tomorrow until the next reading?

www.jennaterese.comMarch 2, 2018 at 6:24 pm #65330@jenwriter17Β I knew his funeral was today.
I read Ruth chapter 1, and I have a few thoughts thus far. I thought verse 6 was interesting when it said “she had heard how Adonai had paid attention to his people by giving them food.”
Also I found it fascinating that while Naomi had lost her husband and sons, God was providing for her by giving her a land to go back to, friends to take her in, and a daughter in law to stick with her. Still yet, all she could see was her troubles, and she called herself bitter. It makes me wonder how often I miss what God is doing because I am busy sulking.

March 2, 2018 at 7:48 pm #65338@kaya-young yes, even after all that had happened, Naomi and Ruth still had each other. God always provides a means of strength during hard times.

www.jennaterese.comMarch 2, 2018 at 7:50 pm #65340@kaya-youngΒ Those are good points! I know I struggle with taking God’s gifts for granted, too
@jenwriter17Β I read Ruth 1, as wellI looked up the names for Naomi and Mara. Mara means “bitterness and sorrow,” and Naomi means “pleasantness.” It’s interesting to know
I think one of the reasons God brought food back to Judah was to show Naomi His, and Ruth’s, love, showing that God cares for every single person, and he has a plan for them. I think that’s really mind-blowing
You can pronounce it however you want.
March 2, 2018 at 8:39 pm #65345@dekreel yeah, I think in certain circumstances and stories the meaning of names is significant.
It’s hard to imagine that God could care forΒ every single person.Β there’s just so many people. but He does, ’cause He’s God. Which is a comforting thought actually…..
