December 4, 2024 at 10:23 am #190883We sure do!!!!
Here’s the back to The Crimson Rose.
I’d love feedback on the blurb. I want it to catch your attention, but not give too much away. Here you go.
Three Stories. One War. One Faith.
In the shadow of World War II, Josef faces a terrible choice. Desperate to avoid the inevitable conscription to the Eastern Front, he joins the SS, believing he can protect his wife and children. But as the horrors of war unfold around him, Josef soon realizes he has woven himself into a fabric of darkness he cannot escape.
Werner, a young doctor sheltered by the serene beauty of the Alps, has lived a life largely untouched by the ravages of World War II. With a fierce determination to save lives, he steps into the turbulent reality of a war-torn hospital. But Werner soon stumbles upon a harrowing secret buried beneath the hospital’s facade. A secret that could spell death for many.
Reuven, a former university student turned underground fighter, dedicates his life to combating Hitler’s regime. Using the power of words to spread anti-Nazi pamphlets, he ignites the flames of resistance. Yet, as he navigates the shadows of rebellion, he is torn by a desperate secret: his Jewish identity, hidden from those who would do him harm, and a sister whose safety relies on his every move.

December 4, 2024 at 10:24 am #190884Netflix was going to make a movie or television series more recently, but there hasn’t been any news in a couple years.
Yes, I heard about that, but then nothing more came out!
We watched a little bit of that cartoon recently, lol. Redwall was such a phase for me when I was 10-12; I read almost all the books, and I thinky favorite was Loamhedge or the book with the magical pearls.
My favorite is Taggerrung, then Mossflower.

December 4, 2024 at 10:51 am #190890A girl in red plaid sits in the college library. Dreadful words – Assignment Due Tomorrow and Proyecto de Clase de Español? -waltz across the screen before her weary eyes. Those words have no business in libraries. Her sanctuary is become her prison. She sighs and clicks on her phone.
Smack
A wet clod of wintery chill flies into her face. She starts, she shudders, but she does not scream.
“Write or die” the snowball whispers before it melts away. The Girl in Red Plaid smiles.
There! Lol. I was being perfectly responsible and doing homework and you lured me from my duty.
*Tries to be annoyed*
*Fails*
That was fun. Next time I’ll probably reintroduce a character who’s been lurking around in my mind recently. Let’s see….
@koshka and @freed-and-redeemed you have each been struck with a snowball. Write or suffer eternal wetness in thy socks. 🧦You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

How. Dare. Thee. Threaten me. With such a thing.
*Shudder*
FINE.
He stared at me with frozen awe. I stared back. This must be one of those immortal mortals, the first children of blood to walk the earth. The quendë. An Elf. I could hardly breathe.
He was dangerous, this child of blood. Not that I was so different down soul deep. I watched him in unblinking silence, aware that my own timelessness kept him there, green eyes wide, face pale. Unaware of the danger of my own fear.
Uh…so I’m not really a Tolkien nerd…but that story might bother me…just a bit…so I had to find a real reason for it, you know.
I’ll have to think of who to hit next.

@ellette-giselle WAMMM *a snowball creams you* (except I want to see flash fiction under 100 words. *Raises eyebrows*)

December 4, 2024 at 12:54 pm #190899Don’t tempt me to repeat the actions of Flint in the video I just sent. I feel like y’all are picking on me.
What on earth!! You hit me with a snowball and then demand flash fiction!!!! My worst nightmare!
How. Dare. You.

December 4, 2024 at 1:16 pm #190901you beast! I’v tossed ten stories since I last posted.
100 words! are you kidding! What kinda story is that!
My shortest one was 400, and I hardly set the stage.

I love this!!! What an amazing thing to write!
There! Lol. I was being perfectly responsible and doing homework and you lured me from my duty.

Well, you didn’t have to write it right then…
That was fun. Next time I’ll probably reintroduce a character who’s been lurking around in my mind recently. Let’s see….

It’s good practice. Seriously. Like sprinting is good for long distance running. Short distances straining with all you’ve got build strength for the long run.
Have you ever heard of the six word story? I don’t remember who wrote it, but one of his friends challenged him to write the shortest story ever. He replied with “Baby shoes for sale. Never worn.”
(Totally didn’t just wonder how long it would take you to narrow something down.
I am so happy right now which probably means I’m cruel)First Grand Historian of Arreth and the Lesser Realms (aka Kitty)

That seriously sounds like a heap of fun! It’s actually a good exercise to try writing very concisely. I think I’ll try this out.

Flash fiction. The strength is in what you don’t say. Don’t worry about setting the stage, introducing characters, or anything like that. Snap a picture of a heart. Let poetry dance with prose.
I’m kinda sorry, but also definitely not. I absolutely love flash fiction, but have been fiercely struggling to write a short story long enough for the Short Story Prompts. Like, 500 words? I have to drag this thing out that long?
