oh that’s awesome! I would LOVE to hear it when you’re done!! I just write some songs for my second published book, and it’s a tone of fun!! Now people are asking me to sing them. 😬
the tunes are in my head, but it sure is hard to make them sound right once I start singing. Does that ever happen to you?
the 14th sounds good to me!

You published 2 books? What are their titles?

Yes! However, I try recording the song when it starts coming to me, then later making the tune solid on the piano.

December 2, 2024 at 9:24 am #190787smart. I generally come up with them while writing and then decide to solidify the tube later because I’m too interested in the writing I’m currently doing to stop. Lol.
yes! I do have two books!!
Fateful Night is the first, and The Choices We Made is the second. So far I don’t have the money to launch a website, so you can only get them by mail directly from my company. I have mail order forms if you are interested.Man is born for the fight, to be forged and molded into a sharper, finer, stronger image of God
December 2, 2024 at 2:07 pm #190796@ellette-giselle there are places where you can set up a website for free, I think. My friends did exactly that.
Also, your book titles are phenomenal!

Woah! What are they about?

December 3, 2024 at 9:56 am #190806well there is, but to make it so people can actually order online you have to pay for the card reading app.
Thanks!! I have a lot of fun with titles. I have a whole notebook full of ones I just scribbled down when I thought of them. If you ever want help thinking up a title, I’d be happy to brainstorm with you.
lol. Two very different things. The first one is the story of a defection attempt from a communist country. The second is about an arranged marriage meant to end years of war between two kingdoms. It’s got some nods to Pride and Prejudice and The Princess Bride, and illustrates the beauty and truth about God’s design for marriage, and how apart from Him, it will never work. One quote from the book that I’m very proud of is: “you cannot warp what God created and expect it to be as flawless as the original.”
so, yeah. Those are the two I have published so far.

December 3, 2024 at 10:05 am #190809Wow. They sound fascinating. So, if you don’t have a website, how do you sell them?
Okay, I’ve finally found someone who has written and published a book!!!!!
You self-published…right?
So, what is it like to write a book from end to start? I plan on doing just that, but I’m somewhat unsure where to start. I’m in the stage of just writing the entire story plot down and am planning on putting it into the 3 Act plot structure…but do you have any tips? I’m also working on character development which is a heap of fun.

December 3, 2024 at 10:21 am #190812I sell them by mail order. You send a letter to my company with check or cash, and the company sends you a book.
that’s how things were ordered just a couple decades ago, but no one wants to go through the time of mailing in an order form. 😢
Yes, I did self publish, though I designed and started my own company.
hmmm, well everyone has a different technique. I, for one, like a lot of freedom. I pull out a blank sheet and hit bullet points that I know of and put them in a general order that I think they’ll fall. For instance, I wrote that I wanted the MC to be arrested and condemned to the ships as a rower. Instead, it flowed better to have him captured by the main slave trading ring and end up out at sea that way. He still ended up being forced to row a big ship, which is where I wanted him. That make sense? I always hit beginning, climax, and end. That way I know where I started, where I’m going, and where it all ends. I find the triangle graph a fallacy. With the triangle you go start, up, and back down. 🔺 The reader will unconsciously or consciously wonder why they went through the whole story to end up in the same place except on the other side. What I like is a hiking graph. You start with a little up and down in the foothills, snake your way up the mountain, scale a cliff to the peak, (your climax) and then make your way part way down to a plateau cliff view. From here you can look back at the peak you scaled, and look forward to the view below and the adventure beyond.
does that make sense?I also graph my characters. I have a chart that I fill in.
Name:
Age:
Gender:
Family/characters he’s related to:
Personality:
Strengths (physical or other):
Weaknesses: (physical or other)
Occupation:
Other Key Points To Remember:
so yeah.
anything else you want to know? If I didn’t explain enough go ahead and ask questions. I’m always ready to jabber on about this. 😉Man is born for the fight, to be forged and molded into a sharper, finer, stronger image of God
December 3, 2024 at 12:40 pm #190821I sell them by mail order. You send a letter to my company with check or cash, and the company sends you a book.
What’s the name of your company? My family has a business ministry, and a publishing branch is one of them, so I’m planning to self-publish/publish with my family’s business.

I do that, too. I also like finding which Myers-Briggs type they are. It helps us find their weaknesses and strengths. Do you know of the Enneagram chart? That’s something I’ve started using as well.
Do you go to conventions to sell your books?

December 3, 2024 at 6:12 pm #190843my company name is Wild Horse Publishing. I did it because that was always the name we used since I was tiny when my brothers and I made movies or pretended to sell books. ☺️
I can send you the info page from the back of one of the books if you’re interested in the company.
I have not been to a convention. I haven’t found any near me so far, however a friend mentioned one that will be about 45 minutes away next year, so I’m trying for that.

December 4, 2024 at 9:25 am #190860lol. Everyone asks for word count, and I never know. I measure books by pages when I read, so I naturally do the same for writing. Let me get back to you on that tomorrow when I can look it up on my laptop.
Yes! I am patiently waiting for the word count. By the way, what software did you use to write your book? Google Docs? That’s what I’ve been using, but I’m planning on switching over to Scrivener.
i edited the book until I loved it, and then I asked a fellow author to do a read through for structure edits, and then a friend did the grammatical edits. (I gave each of them a free copy and a gift card. It’s a great arrangement and it’s wonderful that they are willing to do this for me!) honestly, asking a friend or family member to edit is far better then hiring a professional.
Yes! Having friends and family edit it is the way to go! Actually, my older sister is an editor and proofreader. I’m planning on having her edit my book when it’s done. Currently, she’s way to busy editing our father’s book (he’s writing a book about what it means to be an American). My book’s not written yet, anyway.
I did all my formatting on Adicus. I payed for it, and you only have to buy it once and you get it for life, all updates included.
Hmm…I’ve never heard of that. I’ll have to look into it. Have you heard of InDesign? I’m going to learn how to format with that software in preparation of formatting my father’s book.
after formatting I printed with Barns and Nobel Press. They did a great job and they turned out a really solid product.
I designed all the covers so far, though I have an artist doing my next one. I’ll send pictures of the covers tomorrow if you want to see.I didn’t know they printed for self-publishers. What are their rates? My father’s planning to have his book printed at a local printer shop here. I’m planning to do the same.
YES! I’d love to see your covers! What software did you use to create them? I did print a book this year just for family and friends, and I used Canva to create my cover. It’s a great software since it’s pretty professional like Adobe Express (which I use a lot), but it’s free!
I got an artist for my saga because she does very well with digital art, and that’s not a skill I have. The pencil outline worked for TCWM, but I wanted something different for the saga.
Oooh! Is the saga your upcoming books? So, did you do the pencil outlines for TCWM? I definitely want art in my Wip series. My younger sister is very skilled in drawing, and she’s been drawing some of the characters. I can post them here if you want to see them.
Where did you find your artist? Digital art is something I’ve been wanting my sister to learn so she can draw the art for my Wip since I’d much rather pay her than someone else! (Plus, her work should really get out there)
my company name is Wild Horse Publishing. I did it because that was always the name we used since I was tiny when my brothers and I made movies or pretended to sell books. ☺️
What a beautiful name! I love wild horses! My family’s company is HE IS. Our publishing branch is HE IS Publishing. HE IS stands for two things:
1. Well, He is. Jesus is the King.
2. HE IS is stands for Household Embassy International Services. Our house is an embassy for Jesus, and we are an international family: Scottish, Turkish, and Japanese.
I can send you the info page from the back of one of the books if you’re interested in the company.
Yes please!
I have not been to a convention. I haven’t found any near me so far, however a friend mentioned one that will be about 45 minutes away next year, so I’m trying for that.
Awesome! I’ve never been to one, either!

December 4, 2024 at 9:51 am #190869liberty!!! I’ve been waiting all morning for your email. I love to talk people silly with this sort of thing, and no one else really likes to listen. lol.
Okay, the word count is…….
Fateful Night–> 90,923
The Choices We Made–> 888,823
Oh that’s so cool that you have your sister to help you!! No, I haven’t heard of InDesign, but I have heard that Atticus is the best out there from several other people who self published. So far I really love it and it is super simple to learn.
Yes, B&N has a press that you can use to print books. Hmm, well, Fateful Night cost about 4 dollars a book, plus shipping, but I ended up charging 14 a piece because of paying myself back after buying formatting program and also giving a gift to my editor. So far i have made nothing extra off my books, but have a cycle going so that I believe I will be able to completely fund the saga without dipping into my spending account.
Lol. I use Canva too! I’ll send the covers right after this.
Yes, the Saga is my upcoming books! I actually has a friend that does AMAZING digital art, but no one even knows about it. I asked her to do my covers, so she’ll get her art on the front of my books, and I get my cover done perfectly. She doesn’t want me to pay her, but the covers are so exquisite that I’m going to find a way to give her something in return.
Oh that is so cool! I like that name!
Okay, here is the info page for my company.
Wild Horse Publishing
Wild Horse Publishing is a publishing company dedicated to bringing good, wholesome, God honoring stories into the homes of today’s families. In a time when truth is suppressed and lies rage rampant, our goal is to shine a bright light in the dark. Colossians 3:23-24 says: Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
At Wild Horse Publishing we strive to do all for God’s glory. Each story we publish is filled with His Word and points directly to Him. Stories change lives. Stories change the course of history. Stories change nations. Stories change our world. We are changing this world, one step at a time, through stories that call families to take a stand for the King of kings. We are here to bring you content that will help Christian families grow stronger and more dangerous to the evil in this world. Stories that encourage, equip, educate, and challenge today’s families. Stories built on the foundation of real truth, real goodness, and real lasting beauty. There might be enemies at the gates, but these stories are ready to call you to fight back. They will encourage you to do the real work of cultural change, becoming a lighthouse in the night, armed with courageous joy that burns hot and bright, especially when the world would like to keep you quiet.
We aren’t in the Matrix. The truth is right before us, and so are the lies. It’s time to stand up and fight. Let’s become the world’s worst nightmares; smart, secure, fearless, joyful, full of faith, and quick to laugh at lies and nonsense. It’s time to stand up for the truth. We are here to challenge and strengthen Christians, mind, body, and soul, until this cultural tide begins to turn. And yes, this tide will turn. This ain’t the Alamo. We will die, but we have no intention of losing. After all, the victory has already been won.
