@calyhuge whoa he was your ancestor? As much as you might dislike him, you gotta admit that’s cool.

November 11, 2024 at 4:42 pm #189678well also you can’t really talk about church density NOW as opposed to in the past….y’know?
pretty much about the entire country is really skewed when it comes to that these days….

November 11, 2024 at 4:46 pm #189679Thank you! Yes, Welsh, Irish, Scotch, and old Briton legends are very similar in that vein. Oh yeah. I hate Tinkerbell fairies. I think theres a time and a place for cute little flower fairies like Cicely Mary barker drawings, but those are by no means Fey.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed the ending! Wow, to hear that the ending was beautiful from a guy means a lot! Glad I scored among both the guys and the girls. lol.
I’m curious, what part of the prophesy were you worried (or thinking) i might forsake to change the ending?

November 11, 2024 at 4:53 pm #189680The same wildness that would cause the Irish to break rank and then get ridden down by the patiently waiting English cavalry?
You will love what you spend time with.
November 11, 2024 at 4:56 pm #189681You know what? You are kinda nasty sometimes.
(Joking. I think)

November 11, 2024 at 5:02 pm #189682I don’t like Roger Williams (founder of Rhode Island and my distant ancestor) because he was too soft on theology. He also got kicked out by the Puritans and that’s never a good sign. And for all his pomp about religious freedom in Rhode Island, the church density there is lower than in North Carolina, where I live. So yeah.
Oh, I never knew that. Oh, the Puritans. Oh…
I definitely learned something new.

November 11, 2024 at 5:21 pm #189683In defense of the Irish, they were running toward a better armed enemy. They weren’t cowards. 😉

November 11, 2024 at 5:28 pm #189686If you ever finish yours, I’d still like to see it! I now it’s too late for you to enter, but I’m very curious.
Honestly I think it revealed too much about one of my characters. And as you know, I am quite skittish to post such things. XD
Congrats, this topic rose in popularity again! I’m glad everyone is having fun! And this whole family history stuff is very amusing.
Also, are you feeling better?
Ish. I’ve been in a long-term funk, but that is okay, I will survive. 😉

November 11, 2024 at 6:25 pm #189689The part where it’s like “one shall stand and one shall fall” sort of thing so I was like “Ok, one of them can’t make it” so I was glad you kept to that because the “oh look we’re so cool we defeated the prophesy” device (Percy Jackson, anyone?) is just silly

I ❤️ MedievalsNovember 11, 2024 at 8:48 pm #189690(Come to think of it, if you enjoyed this snippet of my worldbuilding you might enjoy my full on WIP I “borrowed” these characters for, I don’t think I’ve ever shown it to you specifically. It’s a junkpile but it’s at least a semi-coherent story and much cleaner than many works I’ve caught glimpses of in the fandom.)
I’m game! I think it’d be fun, but I can’t promise I’d keep up regularly. I’m not very good at that unless I have a physical book for whatever reason, but I’ll try!
Ah, okay. Yeah, I finally get you a little more than usual. I can’t post my story for this prompt cuz one I was judge, two it’s not finished and three, it revealed precious Baron tidbits.
Glad you’re feeling a little better even if it is “ish”.
Bob the Tomato is from Veggie Tales, right? Or is he one of your characters? Oh, wait, if there’s a GIF about him, he’s most likely not yours.
I’m sorry, I don’t get common references half the time. Just ask Andrew, the amount of good jokes he’s told that I didn’t get until it was explained to me is almost scary lol.

#AnduthForever (hopefully 💕)November 12, 2024 at 7:22 am #189691Oh that makes sense! Yes, the defeating the prophesy junk is stupid unless there is a very valid reason. For instance, I had a character in a book who was cursed by the gods of his people because of a prophesy, but when he came to Christ he was able to flip that on it’s head and say, “you know what, I was cursed. But so are all of you. We are all cursed by our sin.” So, yeah, the prophesy about him never came true…. but then again it was one that should never need to come true because it was made up by a priest serving false gods.
But yeah, other then that, I really don’t like the whole, “Oh look, we did it because they left a loophole!”
Or, what’s even WORSE! When the hero or ally is captured by the villain who has taken out every other guy his faced, and then this untrained welp defeats him through “the power of will” or “the will to live”. Or when the super villain falls to sleep and leaves the prison door opened on accident!!!! Nononononono. It’s not a good story if it’s not realistic. And I mean realistic to your world. But, it has to have rules that cannot be broken, just like our world. I’ve lost more characters then I’d like to admit because I got them to a place where I was like, “Oh shoot, they’re gonna die and I can’t find a way around it.”
So, yeah. Anyways, there was my rant.

That makes sense. Since in your story this was a prophecy supposedly made by a god that was never real in the end, having the prophecy be real despite that is a SERIOUS continuity issue.
@rae sure thing! I’ll warn you though:- the “short story” I wrote for this is currently 0% canon to what I have in the fic itself. It might eventually become a part of it depending on what happens later on
- It’s not technically finished. It’s a fanfic that I wanted to stick fairly close to canon with a few key exceptions, and that means leaving it off where the original authors left off. Hopefully I’ll get it done by the end of next year cause the developers should be finished updating the lore by then.
- Reading through it I keep seeing little tiny continuity issues (like bringing up something about a species’ abilities or something only for it to be never mentioned again) or poor word choices…*facepalm* so yeah, it’s still a big heap of decently presentable garbage that I have to edit some. lol. But I’ll get it to you by today or tomorrow, and you can yell at me all you want if I still don’t have it by Thursday XD XD
