Oh and @Mark-Kamibaya, are the Phillipines under the American government?
November 17, 2016 at 3:06 pm #21232I heard that Priebus is a Christian. Anyone have a take on that?
@Mark-Kamibaya ‘by their fruits you shall know them.’In other words… I don’t think so. Same goes for Trump. I personally believe Trump was ‘over the line’, in your words, which is why I wouldn’t have voted for him (or Hillary) even if I had been old enough. But as far as personal conviction goes I have friends who voted for him for the same reasons you gave (better than Hillary) because they felt it was the right thing to do, even though they despised him. Personal convictions can vary, and I understand that side of the argument even if I don’t agree with it.
As for why we call Trump by his last name and Hillary by her first, I think that’s just because the name Clinton was taken by her husband in his political years, so we’ve always called her Hillary to avoid confusion. 😛
No. I’ll not attack you. 😉 I’ll debate, if you object to anything I said and want to carry this on, but I’ll not attack you.
November 17, 2016 at 5:44 pm #21235The whole energy of this thread is just soo serious! It’s kind of scary.
Okay, so @rolena-hatfield I totally agree with you. God’s sovereignty is a great comfort. But considering all the things I was talking about I’m actually not worried. At this point the situation has changed from one that you can be proactive in (by voting) to one that you can only be reactive in. Sure, you can pray. I get that. But in general it’s a reactive situation.
@emma-flournoy The info came from a semi-trusted source. So I believe Priebus is a Christian in a general sense. But I was wondering what denomination. Trump can say he’s a Christian. Sure. Whatever. But Priebus seems like a decent enough guy. Compared to Bannon, Priebus so much better. Much better. And the Philippines is not under the US government btw. But I am a US citizen so . . . yeah.
@kate-flournoy Yeah. I understand you. People have their own convictions, but we can honestly trust God to move men in ways that are extraordinary. So although we may differ on whether Trump is over the line, we can still trust God to do his perfect will. But why am I being so negative about all this? We have a president who probably is, at worst, as bad as Hillary. And there’s a Republican majority in the Senate and House. So I believe God did a miracle there. Plus, the Cubs won the World Series (first time in 108 years). Coming back from a 3-1 deficit. So I can rightly say with pride: 2016 was a year of surprises. Good ones! 🙂
Ya’ll have a great day.

November 17, 2016 at 6:45 pm #21240Serious?
There. Not serious anymore. No one can take that guy seriously. XD
I think it’s just because we’ve all got political burnout and are used to hotly disagreeing with people on this subject. Thank goodness for KP where disagreement is civil. 😛But you’re right. We do still have a lot to be thankful for. And God’s sovereignty is very comforting. I don’t know where I’d be without that.
Hm… actually… nowhere, quite literally. 😛- This reply was modified 8 years, 1 month ago by Kate Flournoy.
November 17, 2016 at 7:17 pm #21243@Mark-Kamibaya OK, so I guess that means you follow American news pretty closely. 😀
Yes, we can always trust God to do His perfect will. That’s one of my favorite things ever. 😉
And yay for the Cubs! Even though I don’t watch sports. 😛 I love it when the underdogs win.
November 24, 2016 at 1:14 pm #21463Bleh. I don’t even know why I read anything political. It makes me so depressed about where our country is going. But God can still do amazing things through anyone! Even Donald Trump.
@sarah-h Yes. My aunt listened to Rush Limbaugh’s radio thing and he mentioned Walkerton and she was like, “Hey, I know that place! My family lives there.”ENFP - "One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite insane."
November 27, 2016 at 4:51 am #21630Just wanted to thank everyone for keeping this thread civil. I simply was curious about what politics are like in America and the other countries people are from. I get a lot of political news in my house, cause I have a sister that’s heavily interested.
