It’s also really exciting to see how many people are wanting to join KP! I wish there was a way we could get access into the system to let them all in. ? I have been following along on this convo though, so I don’t miss anything.
I’m on the fence about how involved I want to be in this rn. Like, I want to be involved with the planning and launching, but at the same time, I’ve got a lot of things going in irl and I might be joining YWW this coming January. I guess I’m just weighing my priorities and seeing how much time I can dedicate to each one. I would like to be able to follow along with the progress of this branch-off website, but I’m not certain how much time I can commit to helping. And I don’t’ want to be unfair and just hang out on Notion with y’all but do nothing, lol. I’ll try to give you a definite answer soon ? But you can be sure I don’t keep dropping off the face of the planet, lol. I am keeping an eye on the conversation here.

I don’t want to ghost ya’ll. (worse than I just did… Oof.) I’m planning to get the VPN software tomorrow when Cyber Monday helps my wallet fit one. Yay!
I will say, I am a wee bit concerned about the security issues with Notion leaking people’s documents that have apparently happened. Do you know the extent this has occurred? Just curious. *taps nose and points vaguely in your direction*

I understand your concern and have looked into it. I will see if I can find something else to use. I have a friend who is very much into security (he has his Bible app on his phone disguised as something else), and I see what his recommendation is.
With that said, I may be asking people to help create accounts on a few different sites (like the Figma one I used for the prototype). I can’t guarantee the security of any of these, and there might not be a secure alternative we can use. A general rule would be that with any software, don’t put in any sensitive information you wouldn’t want anyone to see (like passwords). If you want to create a fake account and not put your real name in the software, is fine as well. (I believe Proton Mail even lets you create a fake email address)
Primarily, what I would like to use Notion for is assigning tasks, and sharing files (like mood boards, or page content, which we will eventually be posting on here anyway, for anyone who visits to see). If we need to send something more sensitive for whatever reason, then we could use end-to-end encrypted software like Signal or Proton.
My question is, would you be fine using software that is not as secure if we agree to use it in a secure way?
(Not to scare you off from helping if you are not. I just want to know your thoughts at this point.)

I am fine with that to an extent. I would prefer to minimize the amount of accounts I am attached to at all as standard footprint shrinking procedure. If I can use a fake account, I will try to do so. Technically, having a Gmail account is unsecure too, and buying stuff online is just as dangerous as uploading anything…. It’s really a choice of poisons. Pity we can’t really have actual aliases like the FBI. XD
I’ll run this by my family and get their points of view. Notion looks like a great tool in itself.

My friend, who is into online security, got back to me. He thinks creating accounts anywhere is fine, as long as you use false personal information and don’t reuse passwords. So as long as we are not sharing any personal information on the site, Notion should be fine.Alternatively, he recommended we could just use Microsoft Apps for file sharing and task assignments. (example, Excel Spreadsheets) Proton is more secure, but also more limited, so it would be a good option for more sensitive data.
He did not know of an alternative to Figma.
I’ll try to avoid asking you guys to make too many accounts. You shouldn’t have to create a lot anyway, since you won’t be doing the actual website building. (I, on the other hand, will, although I already have these accounts set up anyway.) It might just be one or two things that will make planning easier.
What are your thoughts on this?

Hello everyone,
I’m sorry to say I won’t be able to work on a replacement for Kingdom Pen anymore. I recently got a full time job, and have other projects I need to work on in my spare time. We will just have to hope someone comes to moderate this site again at some point so we can have it maintained and get new members again. (Which could happen, apparently this isn’t the first time Kingdom Pen ha been neglected by moderators.) Sorry!
