Jonah is pretty good, it’s also a classic for my family. The Mr. Lunt and Larry commentary on the movie is really funny, if you have the dvd version of Jonah then it’s worth giving it a watch

May 31, 2024 at 8:52 pm #180337Has anyone watched any of The Phantom of the Opera adaptations? I’m curious to see people’s opinions on them…

June 1, 2024 at 2:48 pm #180368Yes! I’ve watched the one with Gerard Butler in it. I remember it being good, but it’s been a while, so I can’t think of any specific things I liked or didn’t like about it.

June 1, 2024 at 2:58 pm #180373Oh yeah, the 2005 one. That and the 1925 silent film are the only two adaptations I’ve seen of the book, but there’s a lot of them. I like the original book a lot, so I’m not the biggest fan of really any of the adaptations, but the one with Gerard Butler has good music and some nice costumes (the sets are pretty cool too).

June 1, 2024 at 3:16 pm #180376Yep, The Phantom of the Opera is by Gaston Leroux, and came out in 1909. It’s a very interesting book, would definitely recommend if your into gothic novels.

June 1, 2024 at 4:01 pm #180380I’ve read Treasure Island. I know all the books, but none of the movies. 😂 Treasure Planet sounds fun. I might have to check it out. I assume since it’s Disney, little kids can watch it? We don’t really watch movies unless the whole family can see it.

June 8, 2024 at 12:45 am #180687Yeah, it’s a family movie. There are some fighting scenes, so depending on how old they are, maybe not
June 9, 2024 at 1:05 am #180715I have seen the 2019 little women!
In some sense, it was more book accurate. But the family shows no sign of being Christian, and the Christian sounding advice there mom gives them is cut out. And there’s the scene they added before Meg dies where Jo says “Jo’s will be done” when her sister questions if death is God’s will. I can’t think about the movie the same after that, because Jo from the books would never. Anyways, cinematography was top notch, but some of the things said and things that happened were modified to appeal to the modern audience. I don’t like that. I did however appreciate the absence of Jo and Laurie kissing (Other movie versions do this and it never happens in the books). I probably won’t watch is again because of the changes, but I won’t say it’s bad because the film making was very good.

ok I have a movie review!
Live action Cinderella. This was Disney’s first live action, before they realized it was a money making formula and they didn’t have to try lol.
I just rewatched this for the first time in awhile and like guys it just makes me feel like a dreamy little girl again 🥲 The only thing I don’t like about it is that the dress is immodest but other than that it’s great. The step mother is characterized more, and it’s made that her behavior is the result of her grief in losing her husband. Anyways, it’s super good. The prince is named Kit, and they meet in the woods while he’s hunting. He doesn’t tell her he’s the prince, and they have a cute conversation where she convinces him not to kill the stag.
So when they meet at the ball, it isn’t just instant love because they already had something. I like it better that way.
Also at the end when they get married, he says “my Queen” and she says “My Kit” 😭😭😭
It’s a super sweet movie. 5/5.
