Soooo…I wrote something for the Headache/Migraine prompt, a scene from my 5th fanfic in my 5-fanfic-series. 😉

                    Poor Madelene…😅

                    Headache/Migraine prompt

Madelene bounced Grace in her arms as she screamed and cried. She’d already tried feeding Grace
changing her diaper
but nothing would make her stop.

Charlotte tugged on Madelene’s jeans. “Mommy
Mommy
hungry
”

                    “Just a minute, baby
Mama is trying to get Grace to-“

“MAMA! Mason broke my toy train!” Branson yelled, running into the living room, Mason right on his heels.

                    “I didn’t mean it!”

“Mason, please apologize to your brother for breaking his train, and boys, please-“

                    “Mommy
I hungry!” Charlotte screamed.

                    “I know, I know-“

Charlotte laid on the floor and began pounding the living room carpet with her hands and feet, in full tantrum mode, screaming at the top of her lungs.

Madelene’s already throbbing head ached even more.

“Charlotte, you know that’s not how you get what you-Branson, what are you doing!?”

Branson giggled, standing on the arm of one of the couches. “Watch, Mama, I can jump-Mason, stop it!!!” Branson screamed, shoving at his twin, who was laughing and trying to push him off the couch.

“Boys, that’s enough! You know to act better than-“

Charlotte let out an ear-piercing scream, making Grace cry louder, and making Madelene’s head hurt so much more than it already was.

                    Mason and Branson began wrestling.

Mason suddenly howled. “Mama, he bit me!”

                    “Branson-!”

                    “I HUNGRY!”

She was about to go insane.

Why did they all have to start screaming and acting crazy at once!? Couldn’t they do it one at a time!?

Grace cried louder. Madelene quickly grabbed a blanket off the couch and wrapped the six-month-old in it, humming and trying to get her to quiet down. She turned her attention back to the boys. “Branson, apologize this instant for biting your brother. You know you’re not supposed to-“

                    “I’m hungry, Mommy! I’M HUNGRY!”

“Could you all just stop!?” Madelene cried, not super loud though.

None of the kids listened though.

                    Grace couldn’t help it
she was a baby
but the other three? They knew better than this
or at least she thought they did.

                    “MAMA, Mason hit me!”
                    “BOYS-!”

                    Charlotte let out another scream.

Madelene’s head pounded so much harder. Her headache was so bad
and the kids wouldn’t stop screaming.

“Could you all just calm down!? Mama is having a very hard day today!”

Branson kicked Mason off the couch.

                    Mason howled.

                    “Branson, apologize-!”

Mason grabbed Branson’s arm and pulled him onto the floor with him. Wrestling resumed.

Grace screamed, almost right in Madelene’s ear. Madelene’s ear rang, and she didn’t hear much of anything
except screaming
for a few minutes.

                    “What is going on?”

Madelene turned to see Peggy and Steve in the living room.

“Oh, I didn’t know you two were coming over! It’s nothing, just-“

                    Charlotte screamed again.

Peggy’s eyebrows furrowed together. “Are you sure you’re alright?”
                    “Oh, I’m fine, just-“

                    Grace screamed, and Madelene grimaced.

A fierce, piercing pain in her head
and it felt completely awful.

                    “Do you need help, Madelene?”

“Peggy, you and Steve are guests. I wouldn’t expect-Branson, Mason, could you two stop!? We have guests over!”

                    “Are you sure you’re okay?”

Charlotte and Grace both screamed, and Branson and Mason didn’t stop fighting, kicking, and biting each other.

Tears fueled by her throbbing head, crazy day, her disorganized and dirty house, her screaming kids that were stressing her out, all of the busyness of life
fell. Madelene’s vision blurred with tears. “
No, I’m not okay.”

                    “It’s okay, girl, girl
don’t cry, Madelene
it’s going to be okay,” Peggy took Grace from Madelene’s arms and wrapped her free arm around Madelene, “and we’ll get this worked out and let you have the rest of the day to rest, I promise, it’s going to be okay. Steve, can you
?”

Steve nodded. He pried the boys apart and gently, but firmly, pulled them out of the room and out the back door to get fresh air.

                    “Here, Madelene
sit down on the couch
there we go.”

Madelene merely sat where her friend directed, her head still throbbing. She lost track of time
but slowly, she realized that both Charlotte and Grace had quieted down.

She faced Peggy. “What did you
?”

“Turns out Grace needed some milk, and Charlotte calmed down once she realized that screaming was getting her nowhere. Grace is in her crib, and Charlotte is at the table with a small snack
the boys are too.”

Madelene let out a deep breath. “Thanks, Peggy
means a lot.”

Peggy smiled and squeezed her hand. “Of course,” Peggy raised an eyebrow, “but are there other things going on, Madelene? I know kids are stressful
but you seemed even more stressed out than would be normal.”

                    Madelene shrugged. “I don’t know
there’s just so much going on. I watch the kids
go to work
Bucky works too and goes to therapy
and there’s just
so much going on, Peggy
so much.”

“Is there something else going on? Something more
serious? I know you’re also having another child
is something wrong?”

“It doesn’t have to do with the baby, Peggy
no
it-it’s not that
” Madelene bit her lip.

Peggy was a friend of hers
but she didn’t know if she should burden her with her own problems.

                    “Then what is it?”

“Me and Bucky are having trouble in our marriage.”

She hadn’t meant to blurt that out.

Peggy blinked a couple times. “
I see. I can see how all of this would be straining your marriage
have you two thought of counseling?”

                    “Can’t afford it.”

“When was the last time you two went on a date?”

Madelene bit her lip and gave herself a minute to think.

                    When was their last date?

“I think I just got my answer. Okay, listen
it’s Friday. How about me and Steve take the kids for the weekend so you and Bucky can have a weekend to yourselves?”

“All of them? But you two have your own kids, and
I mean
”

“We don’t mind. I’ll ask Steve about it just to make sure, but I’m sure he won’t mind. You and Bucky need a weekend to yourselves
and it may help take some of the strain off your marriage. It’ll be healthy for both of you to take a break, I promise.”

                    “I don’t know
”

“Come on,” Peggy squeezed her hand again and gave her a reassuring, friendly smile, “it will be good for both of you. The kids can have some fun at our house.”

“You haven’t even checked with Steve.”

“Let’s do that right now then, shall we?” Peggy winked and stood. “Come on, Madelene.”

Madelene smiled faintly and followed her friend into the kitchen.

“Mason, look! I have a monkey!”

Mason giggled and grabbed his own Animal Cracker. “Stevie
look, I got a tiger! It’s gonna eat you!”

Steve pulled away from Mason. “Wait! I don’t want to get eaten
”

Mason, Branson, and even Charlotte all giggled.

Steve chuckled, and his gaze rose, his eyes meeting his wife’s. “Is something wrong?”

Peggy smiled. “Not at all. I was just wondering; would it be good with you if we had the kids come stay with us for the weekend so Madelene and Bucky could have a break?”

Steve shrugged. “Good with me. Ryo’s going to be at his friend’s house for the weekend
but we can bring the kids over.”

“Great,” Peggy grinned and faced Madelene, “so it’s a plan. I’ll help you pack their bags.”

Madelene faced Steve. “Are you two sure? I mean
they can be crazy sometimes
and are you sure you want all of them over the weekend?”

Steve nodded. “Why not? We already have our two kids
besides, I think you and Bucky need a weekend to relax. Six kids all seven or younger for the whole weekend
what could be more fun?”

Peggy laughed and nodded. “Of course. We’ll have lots of fun.”

                    Madelene slowly nodded. “Okay
if you’re sure. Thank you two, so much.”

Peggy smiled and grabbed Madelene’s hands, giving them a quick squeeze. “Anytime. Now come on, how about we go get those bags packed?”

                    Madelene smiled and nodded. “Let’s.”
