Here’s my short story for day 26 and day 19 ‘
(Holiday and Proposal)
“How’s dinner coming?” Lexi walked into the kitchen. Her mother was in a full scramble to get everything done.
“Decent, the next time we decide to invite this many people over for the holidays, we’re hiring a chef,” Wanda said grabbing another pan.
“What? It’s only like all the Avengers,” Lexi said with a laugh.
“Thankfully not that many,”
“Do you need any help?”
“If you were good at cooking I’d say yes,”
“What can I say, I take after Dad,” Lexi shrugged.
“Go see if Dad, and Patrick need help on the tree,”
“Of course, because the two boys with super strength need help with a pine tree,”
Wanda gave a scowl.
“But… who knows maybe they dropped it and they need medical assistance,”
“Just go,” Wanda began to mix the soup in one of the pans.
~*~
“Hey there stranger,” Sage said smiling at Lucas, who had just walked in. he was the first out of many guests to arrive.
“Haven’t seen you in a while,” Lucas said with a grin.
“Get a room!” Patrick yelled from behind the tree.
“Patrick!” Sage said showing her fist to her brother.
“Is that supposed to scare me?”
“Keep talking and you’ll find out,”
Patrick through his hands in the air. “Alright, alright, no reason to get violent.”
Sage rolled her eyes and then turned to look at Lucas. “So where’s my gift?”
Lucas chuckled. “I’ll give it to you, in a little bit,”
Sage gave a disappointed look and then laughed. “I guess I’ll do the same with your gift,”
“You got me a gift?”
“Don’t sound so surprised,” Sage elbowed Lucas in the arm.
“Sorry, I just didn’t expect it,”
“You’ll love it,”
“And you’ll love mine,” Lucas looked over at Bucky, who was the only other one who knew what the gift was. Only because he had to get his permission for it, which had taken a lot of convincing.
“Are we too early,” Lily said in her usual gentle tone. Entering the house with Steve and Carol, and their two kids, Nicholas and Natalie.
Patrick came out from behind the tree, and smile, Lily was wearing a beautiful, green sparkly dress with her hair in a beautiful braids. “Wow, you look amazing,”
Lily’s face turned red. “Thanks,”
“Cool it, Romeo,” Steve said entering the decorated living room.
Lily smirked and locked elbows with Patrick.
Lily, Patrick, and Carol made their way to the kitchen, where Wanda seemed to be in a rush. Tasting and stirring with her powers like she had nine arms.
“Do you need any help,” Lily said standing next to Patrick.
“Only this water would boiling quicker.”
Lily looked at Carol. “Should I do it, or should you?”
Carol smirked, “Probably you,”
Wanda just raised an eyebrow, as Lily made her way to the pan.
Lily grinned as she put her full hand on the pot, and began to heat up her arm. The water began to boil as steam poured out of it.
“How did you do that?” Lexi said entering the kitchen. “I mean not getting burned, not the fire powers, we already know about that,”
“I guess because I have fire powers, I can’t get burned, no matter the heat,”
“Wow,” Lexi smiled, “So I take it you’re good at cooking?”
“I suppose,” Lily gave a gentle smile, and then walked back over to Patrick.
~*~
“Everyone’s here except for my boyfriend,” Lexi grumbled,
“I’m pretty sure you have to go on a date first in order to be a couple,” Patrick pointed out with a laugh.
Everyone had gathered around the living room, and Sam had finally shown up, with Yelena.
“Oh shut up,” Lexi stuck her tongue out at her brother.
“Should we open gifts now?” Sage said looking at Lucas who she sat next to on the carpet.
“Will you wait, you’re worse than a toddler,” Lucas said wrapping his arm around Sage.
“Not until there’s a gift in this hand,” Sage said holding out her arms and closing her eyes.
“Can’t, not everyone is here,”
“Oh come on, nobody cares about Lexi’s boyfriend,”
“Hey!” Lexi looked to see Daniel walking through the door, pretending to be offended.
Lexi got up, running into Daniel’s arms.
“Okay, he’s here, now where’s my gift?” Sage said, nudging Lucas in the arm.
“Not yet,” Lucas said as Natalie took a seat next to him.
“Hey, Nat, what do you think Lucas got me?” Sage asked looking at the eight-year-old girl.
“Maybe a wedding ring,” Natalie said with a giggle.
“Oooh, I like that idea,” Sage said giving the girl a high-five. But she doubted it, he wouldn’t do that, would he?
“Speaking of gifts, where’s mine?” Lexi said looking up at Daniel.
“What do you mean, I am your gift,” Daniel gestured to himself.
“That’s not a gift, I knew you were coming,”
“But at the end, you started to wonder,”
“So you being late is my gift,” Lexi crossed her arms.
“Okay here’s your gift,” Daniel pulled out a stethoscope from his pocket.
A smile went across Lexi’s face as she looked at it. It said Doctor Lexi Rebecca Barnes on it, “Thank you, I love it!” Lexi hugged Daniel and then led him into the living room.
“Alright now it’s your turn,” Patrick said handing Lily a jewelry box.
“It’s so pretty thank you,” Lily wrapped her arms around Patrick.
“Alright, it’s my turn,” Sage looked at Lucas.
“Would you please wait,”
“For what?”
“For the right moment,”
“Fine…” Sage watched as Nicholas and Natelie tore into the gifts. Lucky,
~*~
“I’m sorry about the whole gift thing,” Sage said, leading Lucas out onto the back deck. “It’s just when I moved here, Bucky would give Wanda sentimental gifts, that meant the world to her, and I guess I just was excited for that.”
Lucas smiled and then looked above them. “What’s that?”
“Mistletoe, Lexi and Patrick bought it,”
“Of course they did,” Lucas grinned.
“They hung it back here so Mom and Dad wouldn’t see it,”
“Well, they both found their life partners,”
“Let’s not be too hasty,”
“What about us?”
“Well…” Sage inched closer to Lucas. “We’re standing under the mistletoe, and it’s Christmas,”
“And it’s tradition to share a kiss under the mistletoe, right?”
“Right,”
“Well… why don’t we change the tradition?”
“What do you mean,” Sage gave a skeptical look.
“I mean something like this,” Lucas got down on one knee and pulled a black box out of his pocket. “Will you Sage Barnes, do me the honor of marrying me?”
Sage stood in shock and then smiled. “Oh, my word! Yes! Yes yes!”
Lucas slipped the ring on Sage’s finger, as a smile crossed both of their faces.
~*~
Wanda took a seat on the bed, it had been a tiring day, but of course a wonderful one too. Their daughter was getting married, their second daughter had her first date, and their son had turned into a real gentleman.
“I’m sorry, I got you a gift, but it didn’t come in time,” James said, taking a seat next to Wanda.
“It’s okay, I got my gift,”
“What?”
“Peace…” Wanda grabbed James hand. “When I saw Lexi and Sage talking to Daniel and Lucas, it made me realize they wouldn’t be here if Pietro hadn’t died, I’m not thankful for his death, but for once I realize he died saving other. he didn’t just die, but he died noblely.”
James smiled, “Yeah he did,”
“I love this life , the life we have together, and I’m thankful,” Wanda wrapped her arms around James.

I can’t wait for this one…
Day 26: Proposal
Ship: Luke Skywalker
Skylar squeezed the end of the curling iron, making the last wave in her hair. After a moment, she set the iron down on the edge of the sink and used her hands to toss her hair. She looked at herself in the mirror and admired the thick waves in her hair. It looked more red today than blonde. Her hair color always looked different depending on the lighting.
Sky grabbed her mascara wand and touched up her makeup quickly, then stood back and admired her whole outfit. She was wearing a summery, sage-colored dress that brought out the green in her hazel eyes, with a thick black belt around her waist that tied in a large bow in the front. To finish off the outfit were tan sandals on her feet.
She smiled at herself and was surprised that she had pulled this off. She typically didn’t dress this fancy for dates with Lukas, but he had said he was taking her somewhere special tonight and suggested she dress up a little. But he also said not to wear shoes that would be uncomfortable to walk in… that part made her extra curious.
Content with how she looked, she grabbed her handbag just as a knock sounded on the door. She hurried across the room, and opened the door with a smile to greet her boyfriend.
“You look great,” was the first thing he said, a smile across his face.
Sky grinned. “Thanks. You don’t look too bad yourself,” she said with a nod towards his sport coat.
Lukas chuckled and held out his hand. “You ready to go?”
With a nod, Sky locked the front door and took Lukas’s hand as he led her down to his car. He opened the door for her and she slid into the passenger seat.
“So where are we going?” She asked as Lukas pulled out of the driveway.
“It’s a surprise,” he said in a singsong voice and with a knowing look on his face.
Sky humphed. “Fine… couldn’t you just give me one little hint though?”
“Alright, I will. It’s someplace special.”
“Well obviously. You already told me that.”
Lukas just grinned. “That’s all I’m telling then. You’ll just have to wait and see.”
Sky laughed. “Okay, if you say so. But hurry up and drive a little quicker. The anticipation is killing me.”
A few minutes later, Lukas pulled up into an empty parking lot. Skylar looked around at the trees and visible trailheads and smiled widely. “Is this what I think it is?”
Lukas only smiled, a twinkle in his eyes, and got out of the car. He opened the door for Skylar and she stepped out, now more excited than ever. “I think I know where you’re taking me,” she said.
Lukas led her to one of the trailheads and started down it. Sky briefly wondered how long they would be walking, but quickly followed after Lukas, her curiously sparked even more.
They walked straight down the trail for a few minutes, until Lukas took an unexpected turn down a path that looked like it had rarely been used.
“Oooh,” Sky said, following him. “We’re going off the beaten path.”
Lukas still didn’t say anything, but Skylar could tell he was still smiling. The hike seemed to get a little harder as they walked uphill.
Finally, the trees cleared, giving way to the most beautiful sight Sky had ever seen. Sky put her hands over her mouth and slowly walked out onto the grassy cliff. The setting sun reflected off the clouds, turning the sky into shades of amber, scarlet, blush, and even a hint of violet. Below the cliff was a thick forest of dark green trees and a small rippling lake. Birds flew across the sky, complementing the view. And to bring the lovely scene to completion, a picnic basket sat on top of a blanket that was only a few feet away from Skylar.
She turned on her heel to face Lukas who was watching her bask in the beauty of it all. “This is beautiful!”
Lukas walked up to her and slipped his arm around her shoulders. “Do you remember when we first came here?”
Sky nodded and smiled at the memory. It was when they were with Fynn and Callista. They had been hiking through the forest, but had gotten lost and ended up finding the cliff.
“I was able to find an unused trail that led up here. Instead of walking through the untamed forest like we did last time.”
Sky giggled, then ran over to the picnic blanket and sat down, opening the basket. “Let’s eat then, shall we?”
Lukas joined her and two of them enjoyed a picnic dinner while watching the sunset. When they were done, Sky cuddled up close to Lukas and rested her head against his chest. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and said, “I think this has been my favorite date so far.”
Sky smiled. “Me too.”
After a few moments of sweet silence, Lukas scooted over to the basket. “I brought my camera,” he said, pulling out his camera and a tripod. “Let’s take a few pictures.”
Skylar nodded and stood up as he set up the camera.
“Alright,” he said, joining her. “Now, you stand right here.” He grabbed her shoulders and moved her to where he was facing him. “Perfect.”
Sky cocked an eyebrow. “I’m not even facing the camera.”
“Just hold on,” Lukas said, holding up a finger. “I wanted to try this idea for a cute couples photo that I saw.”
Sky didn’t mind. She had been his photography guinea pig many times before.
Lukas walked back a few steps.
“So what are you going to do?” Sky asked.
“Hold on,” Lukas rubbed his chin. “I’m trying to remember what it was…” His eyes lit up. “Oh yeah. Now I remember.” A grin went across his face and he pressed a button on the camera, then rushed back to Skylar.
Still smiling, he went down on one knee and looked up at her. Skylar’s heart started pounding as her eyes got wide and she clamped a hand over her mouth.
Lukas pulled out a small box from his coat pocket and opened it up, revealing a sparkling ring. “Skylar Adalynn Nadir, will you marry me?”
Sky giggled and slowly pulled her hand away from her mouth. She bit her lip to hold back a grin. “What if I said no?”
Lukas’s eyes got wide and he blinked a few times, before clearing his throat and saying, “Then I’d go home a man with a broken heart.” A smile tugged at his lips.
“I’d couldn’t let you do that.” Skylar’s face broke into a grin. “Yes, Lukas Barlowe, I will marry you!”
Lukas stood up, his smile wider than Sky had even seen it. Skylar felt tears of joy well up in her eyes as Lukas slipped the engagement ring onto her finger. He held both of her hands and looked into her eyes.
“Lukas I—” Skylar began, but Lukas put a finger to her lips.
“I know exactly what you mean,” he said. He let go of her hands and gently cupped her face in his hands. He leaned forward and brought their lips to touch, the two sharing a tender and passionate kiss. One that symbolized their unconditional love for each other, which would last forever… forever and always.
