I do agree with the people who commented on the end of this last chapter; there probably should be some more context before they teach him how to fight.

Good chapters! The rebellion is reminding me of the church meetings in my story.
Jonathan’s adjustment is pretty realistic. He’s struggling, but wants to please the people who are teaching him despite himself.
I don’t really know why they can’t just let him go–that was a bit blurry for me. I know he was captured and taken outside the city… so now they know his name and know he was still alive? Why couldn’t he just go back to the gang?

Glad it feels realistic. I kept breaking his character here in the other drafts, so I’m really working on taking it more slowly. (Even if it makes me want to shake some sense into him!)
First, how would they get Jonathan back into the city?
Second, he knows too much about them for them to safely let him go.
