      @power

hey! Sorry, I’ve been out of town and just saw this.

so in the chapter I mentioned that they fueled the plane up with the fuel in the fuel truck that was with the transport. The plane wasn’t being flown over because it was basically kind of a prototype.

The rebels have several supply lines and routs from people inside the city as well as their own natural resources for several of their things…. If that makes sense.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music

so, I’m going to blindly ask some questions!! ?

just keep in mind that I haven’t seen the doc yet, so sorry if I ask something that you have already answered on there.

Note: Please keep in mind that I can’t fully develop every character within the story, otherwise there wouldn’t be enough spotlight on my MC. My MC is Jonathan.

~What are some of the most noticeable political/modern-world-of-today stabs you noticed? ?

        Extra:

~ What was your favorite part of the book overall? Why?

~ What would you say the target audience of this book would be?

        ~ Any other thoughts

i think I’ll drop a book breakdown right after this so that you don’t have to read through the whole thing to answer the questions.

scrap the breakdown. I literally did the whole thing and KP deleted it. I don’t feel like doing it all over again, and the actual outlines are in my laptop.

                    Characters:

~Which character(s) did you find the most compelling/relatable/believable and why?

I think they were all really good.

~ Were there any character that need to be more engaging? If so, how would be some good ways for me to do that?

I noticed some people said that Jonathan’s team needed to be a little more differentiated, but I could tell them all apart. The only time I got confused was when I couldn’t remember what Brian’s (that was the navigator’s name right?) role was. If you haven’t done this already, it’s an easy fix–same way as we saw Jonathan training with Ron and Amber, have Brian show Jonathan what he does on the team.

                    ~Were the characters believable?

                    Yep!

~ Were there any characters you wanted to see more of?

Here isn’t really the place for it–another book would be better– but I want to see more of the Rebellion as a whole.

~was Jonathan an interesting character, despite several irritating faults?

Yep! And don’t worry, irritating faults is exactly what a character needs at first. Then they grow into being a better guy/girl, or robot/computer, or animal.

~did the characters have good, strong motivations?

                    Yeah, I think they did.

~did the characters who died have completed arcs?

The ones who died here, they didn’t have much in the way of arcs, actually.

~Can you easily describe in a few sentences what roll each of the team members filled and their different personalities? (Michael, Amber, Jonathan, Ron, Evan, Jason, Brian)

I’m gonna match them to a character I already know if that’s fine with you.

Michael–Captain. Like Rex from The Clone Wars.

Amber–She seemed to be like the one who gives information to the team from back at the base. I’ve compared the ladies’ work in this story to the human computers of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. I’d say she’s a lot like Florence Pauling from Team Fortress.

Jonathan–I….actually don’t remember if you said what his specific role is. But he’s like Echo in The Bad Batch–the newest member of the team who’s proven himself to be quite valuable due to the new knowledge he brings.

Ron–The sniper. Straddles the line between “friendly sniper” (Mundy-type or Feather-type) and “cold sniper” (Crosshair-type.)

Evan–The pilot. I actually can’t remember any specific pilot characters in the stories I like. Good on you! You introduced a new character category for me.

Jason–Tech stand-in. LOL. (If you are going to kill him, don’t make him sacrifice himself for his team and then fall off a tram in a sorta Winter Soldier style. That’s how Tech “died.” I put it in air quotes cause the fandom is still up in arms about whether he ACTUALLY died cause y’know, Bucky didn’t.)

Brian–Strategist and maps guy. Again, I can’t say I remember a character that’s both specifically dedicated to this and part of a team in any of the stories I’m currently into, but I’m sure they exist.

                    Storyline:

                    ~ Was the plot solid?

                    Yep!!

~ Did the pacing feel consistent throughout the book? If not, where did it lag or feel dull?

There was one place the pacing seemed weird, but I pointed it out to you and you said it was more due to the character’s skewed perspective of time. Which is okay.

~Was there anything that seemed unbelievable or forced?

I’m a bad person to ask this, cause I’ll read most stuff and be like “yeah, this makes sense.” Later on I might be like “Wait a minute…..” but it’ll probably take me like 3 or 4 re-reads.

~ Were there any plot twists or surprises that stood out to you?

There were plot twists, but they didn’t really stand out to me specifically. I don’t get startled by plot twists much anymore.

~looking back, does it make sense that Michael was 314? Or did that feel forced?

It was like “whaaaa? He’s alive?” but it didn’t feel forced.

~ Was the ending fitting and satisfying? (As much as a book 1 ending can be.)

                    Definitely.

~ Were any parts of the story confusing or difficult to follow?

It was a little strange when they threatened they were gonna shoot Michael, and the guy fired, but it was only a blank. I feel it should be a little more clear that it wasn’t a bullet.

Come to think of it, that scene when they took Jonathan out back to shoot him, that one was kinda the same.

~ Were there any unresolved plot threads you wish had been dealt with in this book?

                    Don’t think so.

~are there any unresolved plot threads I need to make sure to wrap up in the next book?

I…don’t remember any big ones. Besides the obvious part at the end where they’ve now taken the city, and I wanna know: that Agent in the end, is he onto them? or is that smirk because he thinks it’s business as usual?

~ Was the balance between action, dialogue and description smooth in the story?

I think a little more description of what it’s like around would be cool. You mention a government insignia one the shoulders of their stolen uniforms, what is it? A bird or animal? A person’s face? That kinda thing. You also said that Jonathan had never seen grass until he was picked up by the Rebels. What was his town like? Was it more or less clean, or was it dirty and dingy? Or in between?

~any scenes you would want cut?

                    Nope, don’t think so.

~any scenes you would want lengthened?

                    Not that I remember.

                    Theology/Message:

~ Any theological concerns for the story?

I don’t know. This one’s not like your missionary stories where it would be glaringly obvious.

~ What would you say my world view was?

Christian, and the kind willing to fight for the integrity of the country.

~ What would you say was the message of the story?

This is a little hard, again cause this is a little less obvious than your other works.

~Were the characters’ struggles dealt with effectively?

                    Yeah.

~What are some of the most noticeable political/modern-world-of-today stabs you noticed? ?

School system/indoctrination, mostly. Also that incident with Jim’s wife might’ve been a jab at how people in the workforce, sometimes they get mistreated because someone else messes with their stuff and then bribes the higher-ups to not see it (corruption at all stages of society, basically)

                    Extra:

~ What was your favorite part of the book overall? Why?

A lot of the scenes in the Rebels’ hideout were cool. I found myself imagining what it must look like. Is it literally underground, or is “underground” more figurative? I wanna say it’s the first option, but I don’t exactly remember.

~What was your least favorite part? (From a reader’s prospective) why?

                    I don’t remember.

~Who was your top favorite character? Why?

I think you know my top two, hehe.

~other favorite characters or honorable mentions?

                    Amber was pretty cool.

~Who was your least favorite? (if you have one) Why?

That agent who kept showing up throughout the story (it was the same one right?) That guy dripped pure evil. Which is a good thing from a writer’s perspective.

~Is there anything that you would say needs to be changed?

                    I don’t know. It’s your book.

                    Sorry, that’s super unhelpful lol

~ What would you say the target audience of this book would be?

                    Teens. Definitely.

I would read it when I was 12 though, lol.

                    ~ Any other thoughts?

                    Nahh.
