“Look Up Child”

Hey, y’all!!

So I wrote a poem, inspired by two popular lines from The Chosen, “Look up” and “You are mine.”

I’ll take comments and any critiques that you have!! (Plus, if you think it’s too short, I do have another stanza that I’m thinking about adding)

 

I was stuck in the mire,

Unable to escape.

Trapped in sinful desire,

My chains I could not break.

But Christ reached down to save me,

And pulled me from the mud.

His mercy now has freed me,

From every sin I have done.

He simply beckons me,

 

“Look up child,

Into your Savior’s eyes.

Look up child,

I brought you from death to life.

Look up child,

You are mine.”

 

I know I am forgiven,

I know that I’ve been freed,

But when I give in to temptation,

Guilt returns to haunt me.

Yet the Father calls me home,

Into His embrace.

I fall into His arms,

Pleading for forgiveness.

And He says, lovingly,

 

“Look up child,

Into your Savior’s eyes.

Look up child,

I brought you from death to life.

Look up child,

You are still mine.”

 

In this world of darkness,

False pathways abound,

But I know my Savior is,

The true north that I’ve found.

The devil tries to convince me,

That I am not enough.

But the Lord always reminds me,

I am defined by His love.

His voice calls out to me,

 

“Look up child,

Into your Savior’s eyes.

Look up child,

I brought you from death to life.

Look up child,

You are forever mine.

So look to me,

my forever child.”

 

(Don’t feel obligated to reply if you don’t want to. 🙂 )

(Also, I’m thinking to maybe [that’s a very big maybe] add a melody to it.)

Ahh GIRL!!! Oh my goodness I LOVE IT!!!! I needed to hear (read??) that :). I don’t think that it’s too short, but, by all means, if you want to, I’d love to see the last line!!

Have you heard Lauren Daigles song “look up child”? It’s really good!! I can’t remember the lyrics distinctly, but she’s a Christian artist.

How Your love changed my life.

May I always ever let,

Your will to be done in my life.

For Your words simply say,

“Look up child,

Into your Savior’s eyes.

Look up child,

You are mine.

You are forever mine.”

 

Still unsure on the “One thing I will never forget, how Your love changed my life. May I always ever let, Your will to be done in my life.” But for now, it is what it is. Lol ?

Oh, I have!! I love it. I mean, it’s not as good as You Say or Rescue, but it’s probably my 3rd favorite of her songs. Do you listen to K-Love any? It’s such a great radio station!

Our family does occasionally! (We typically bluetooth my parents’ music to the car instead of the radio.) They do have some good songs on there! 🙂

Oh yeah, we usually do that too on long car rides. But on short rides we just listen to K-Love a lot! But yeah, they do!! I love the Lauren Daigle songs and the Mercy Me songs.

Ikr? Rescue is the best song ever!! I don’t listen to K-love (didnt even know they were a station lol) but I do watch there awards ceremonies and interviews online occasionally!
