Soldier (haven’t written anything from his pov in a while so we’ll see how this goes)
We’d been wandering for a LONG time. Way too long!
After waking up and crossing the lake we’d found ourselves in a maze of hedges. Very boxed in. I didn’t like it! I was supposed to be FREE!
Something swooped far overhead. A crow! One of those big crows!
It yelled. Not normal.
“Wait a minute.” Huntress looked up at it. “Is that Lucy?”
“Who’s the other one ridin’ with her?” Sniper asked.
He turned to me. “Talk to ’em. Where’s she been all this time?”
I took off.
“Hello, children!” I said, a little too loud. The unfamiliar child laughed.
The crow caught one of my tail feathers in its beak and pulled. I screamed. The girls laughed again.
Gerald handled that. You don’t question Gerald. (if you know you know)

we can just say they breezed past him without caring or something
still keeping the crow catching his feathers though, that was funny

Mel’s excited laughter turned into a startled shriek as something flew up beside them.
“Hello children!”
Momentarily distracted from the bread, Runt nipped at the bird man’s tail feathers, causing him to scream as well. In the chaos, Mel tried to grab the fishing pole bait from Lucy to steer them away from the bird creature, but instead knocked it out of her hand.
The bread dropped. And half a second later, so did they.
Runt went into a full dive, his wings tucked and eye locked onto target. The girls’ screams were drowned out by the wind howling past their ears. For a terrifying moment, Mel pictured the three of them hitting the ground so hard that they would flatten into pancakes. Mel did not want to be a pancake.
Thankfully, at the very last moment, Runt gracefully spread his wings, plucked his prize out of the air, and then crashed into the nearest hedge wall.
It took a bit for the girls and their bird to detangle themselves from the leafy branches. By the time they had climbed down and checked themselves for injuries, the grown-ups had rushed over to help. The bird man landed, and it was then that Mel realized he was actually part of the group and not a terrifying monster.
Runt stumbled over to Mel’s side, a long strand of twine hanging from his beak, still attached to the bread he was now attempting to swallow. Worried he might choke on it, Mel grabbed the twine and pulled on it, starting a game of tug-o-war between the two of them.
