I typed an RP forever ago, but I forgot to submit it…*facepalm*
Ayla
Funny? “Elizabethan English is dignified,” I informed Mel. “But I can talk normally too.” She had a flashlight. Smart. “I’m Ayla. Do you have a weapon by any chance? I want a sword but my parents don’t trust me.” I glanced around at the tunnels. “Have you run into anything dangerous yet?” I flipped my hair. Danger was my middle name. Or at least, it was what my middle name would be if I had a sword.
?For our Blessed Lady's sake, bring us in good ale!?

“Not really. Maybe a supervillain?” Mel shrugged. “I have this.” She held up her stick. “And my garden shears. You can have the stick if you want. I was pretending it was a sword earlier. It’s a good stick.”

Rallascant took the object offered to him and examined it. He didn’t really know what it was, but it was different than anything else in his hoard, which excited him. He grinned at the masked woman.
“Deal.” He held out his hand for a handshake. As she took it, he added, “May I have your name, by the way? I don’t think you said it before.”

Felicity
Fel sat at the edge of the cave, staring out into the night. She had a pile of rocks next to her to throw at any of the flying creatures that swooped down too close. It was effective enough, and the creatures mostly left her alone now.
As she waited, refusing to let the cold air bother her, something vibrated in the earth. It was small at first, but soon it became audible. Footsteps. Big footsteps. And they were coming this way. A large silhouette emerged from the darkness. It shuffled closer to the cave.
Felicity stood and shushed the others. She was thankful now that they hadn’t succeeded in making a fire.
The thing paused by the cave entrance, and they could see it clearly now. It was a hulking ten feet tall and had mottled gray skin. It dragged a club behind it and had two tusks sticking crookedly out of its mouth. It sniffed the air, then slowly turned and looked into the cave with its beady eyes.
“I think… it sees us,” Felicity whispered.
Here’s a troll. Sorry for taking so long.

Huntress
Felicity chucked rocks at the odd flying creatures who’d managed to evade Soldier, but eventually stopped.
Sniper raised his rifle and shot one out of the sky, the crack of the gun going off the only loud sound we’d heard since we arrived at the cave.
Shortly afterward, Felicity motioned for us to be silent, and I realized why when a tall, gray, tusked bipedal creature walked out of the mist, snuffling around. Had it been alerted by the gunshot?
“I think it sees us.” Felicity whispered.
“No one move.” Sniper growled, and after a few second, the…..thing looked in a different direction. It didn’t move from near the cave entrance, though, so we still had to find a way to get rid of it.
“You know what it looks like? The trolls I’d see in illustrations from fairytale books.” I said, finally knowing where I’d seen this kind of creature before. “Anyone remember how to get rid of them?”
“Either of you ‘ave a flashlight on ya? The stories my mum read to me when I was a nestling always said they hated light.” Sniper explained.
Soldier crouched next to us. “What are we whispering about?” he asked.
I pointed to the troll. “That.”
“I can kill it.” he said, pulling one of the grenades he had off of his bandolier.
“Don’t–” I began, but he’d already primed the grenade and thrown it next to the troll.
We all leaped for cover when it went off. The troll was unharmed, its thick skin tanking the blast, but it had been knocked over, and sure enough the light from the flash had upset it.
It stood up and swung its club before giving a roar.
“I think that only ticked him off, mate!” Sniper warned Soldier.
“You’re the one who alerted it, lizard-legs!” Soldier screeched back at him, before the troll grabbed him by the tail and started swinging him around like a ragdoll.

“Call me Barnes.” She stuck her hands in her pockets. “That being my regular name. Yours?”

June 23, 2025 at 9:50 am #204173A few things happened, but it shouldn’t be too much reading, luckily.

“Rallascant Cottontail, at your service.”
He gave a small bow, and tipped an imaginary hat. Then he straightened.
“Well, I’d better hop off then. If you ever need help, just call.”
And with a wink, the imp was gone.

The labyrinth shifted in the mists, restless. Its inhabitants felt it and peered out of caves and branches, silent in anticipation. It was time for a change.
The ground trembled, and patches of dirt seemed to boil. Vines sprouted and new walls sprang up as the maze rearranged itself. Smaller vines grew up as well, snaking down passageways, looking for someone to trap in its coils.
Mel
Something wrapped itself around Mel’s ankle and pulled. She yelped and tried to yank her foot away, but found herself suddenly waist deep in loose earth. A moment later, the ground swallowed her, and all that was left in her place was her beloved stick.
Felicity
Felicity pulled her revolver out and pointed it at the troll’s head, but she couldn’t fire yet while Soldier was in the way. After a few seconds of trying to get a good shot, she cursed and lowered her weapon.
Suddenly the ground began to shake and Felicity lost her footing. She looked up just in time to see thick vines sprout out of the ground and wrap themselves around the troll’s legs, yanking him to the ground. The ground shook even more violently with the impact.
Perfect, Felicity thought. We can take him while he’s down.
The troll roared in anger.
Mel
Mel found herself digging frantically and pulling herself out of a dirt filled hole. She got herself the rest of the way out and crawled onto the grass. She kicked, and the vine that had been wrapped around her leg retreated and shrank back into the ground. Mel stood up and spat some dirt into the grass.
“Stupid plants. You better watch who you’re messing with.”
She got out her garden shears and gestured with them threateningly.
“See this? I’m armed! Don’t you try any more funny stuff!”
Shrubbery sufficiently told off, Mel put her shears back in her pocket and took a look around. She didn’t recognize anything. She was in a completely new place and completely alone. Again.
She huffed and put her hands on her hips. Picking a random direction, she began to walk.
Mel was just relocated, but you could have the same thing happen to Barnes except she comes out of the ground as her younger version if you still wanted to write for young Barnes. I’m just explaining it with vague maze magic I guess.

Soldier kept getting in the way while Felicity tried to shoot the beast. Eventually she lowered the weapon, a curse escaping her lips.
For a second I thought we were done for. If we couldn’t kill it with the weapons we had, we’d have to run, and we couldn’t exactly do that when it was blocking the only place to run to.
Then came the vines. The floor rumbled, and several thick plants burst from the floor and wrapped around the troll-creature’s legs, toppling it. It roared angrily.
Soldier, released from its grip, flew up and then dove toward it, claws outstretched for a killing strike to the less-protected neck. Sniper readied his knife just in case that didn’t work.
