Do whatever. I’m not sure really what to rp atm, since I don’t think Kepha has rped to my last rp.
When your charries have it so rough you are learning how to color dark under eyes...

Felicity awkwardly took Sniper’s handshake before looking around at the maze. “We need to get out of here.”
“You can fly, right?” she addressed Soldier. “Could you maybe scout out a place we could take shelter for the night?”
He nodded and gave a salute before taking off, his powerful wings causing vortexes to appear in the thin mist. He wheeled higher and higher, before he eventually disappeared.
“There he goes,” I said. “Hopefully he won’t get distracted fighting something….or find a shiny piece of metal, try to kill his reflection in it, and forget about us.”
“If he does that, at least we’ll hear him screamin’ at himself,” Sniper pointed out.
Fortunately that didn’t happen, and he came back eventually, dropping a dead dragon-looking creature in front of us. “I’ve found one! A cave!” he called, hovering over the three of us. “I killed this thing with my bare talons to get to it! Also, this maze goes on forever in all directions.”
“Can ya lead us there?” Sniper asked.
“Sure thing! This way!” Soldier replied, flying down one of the paths. The three of us followed, weapons ready just in case we encountered more monsters on the way.

MelissaAs Mel followed the rabbit, it began picking up speed, and she found herself jogging to keep up with it.
There was something up ahead. A thin line across the path, reflecting silver in her flashlight beam. Mel slowed slightly, hopped over it, and continued running. Ahead, the rabbit turned suddenly right, and disappeared down a tunnel. Mel didn’t hesitate to dive down after it.
She crawled through the tunnel on all fours, getting mud on her hands and knees. Soon, she saw a light up ahead. A few seconds later, the tunnel opened up into a large burrow with a lantern hanging from the ceiling. All along the walls and in a pile in the middle were trinkets of various types and sizes: toys, buttons, books, broken bits of metal, and even some weapons. Mel looked around, her eyes wide. There was no rabbit in sight. Instead, in the corner, there crouched a little man with an abnormally large nose. He looked at her and his mouth opened in shock.
“Ah! What are you doing here? You were supposed to fall into my net trap!”
“I saw the tripwire,” Mel said, sounding unimpressed.
“In the dark? With your dull human eyes? How??”
She held up her flashlight.
“Cursed human technology,” the creature grumbled under his breath. He began wringing his hands and glaring at his toes.
“Why did you want to trap me in a net?” Mel asked curiously.
“So I could help you out of the net.”
Mel frowned. “That doesn’t make sense.”
“Of course you wouldn’t get it. Now get out of my burrow before I trap you here forever or something. Shoo! Scram!” The little man began hopping up and down and waving his hands at her. Mel begrudgingly did as she was told, and turned around to climb back up the tunnel.

I was trying to decide whether to pretend I was in the Triwizard Tournament or under King Minos’ castle when I noticed a tunnel. I knelt down and peered into it, wishing I had a light. A small girl stared back.
“Hark! A human! Greetings, fellow wander! Whither goest thou?” Hopefully whither was correct. I never could remember the difference between whither and whence.

“I goeth out of this tunnel… -eth” Mel wiggled the rest of the way out and retrieved her stick, which she had left by the burrow’s entrance. She looked the girl who had just appeared up and down with her flashlight.
“You talk funny. But I like your cape. I’m Mel.”

After seeing Soldier come back with the dead body of a dragon and drop it in front of them like a cat would with a mouse carcass, Felicity decided she was grateful to be these people’s ally.
They arrived at the cave and settled down. Someone had suggested starting a fire, but they had little luck finding any wood that wasn’t damp from the mist. Instead, Felicity huddled against one of the stone walls and dug through her satchel bag, taking inventory. She had her revolver, a few rounds, a bottle of ink, some money, old train tickets, and her identification papers. Not much to help survive in a maze full of monsters.
She looked around at the others. “Do any of you possibly have any food on you? I’m not hungry or anything, just thinking ahead.”

We arrived at the cave. At first, Sniper and I tried to start a fire, but there was no decent wood around, so we ditched that prospect.
Felicity stayed to the back, rifling through her satchel. She had a gun in there, some ink (weird, was she a writer?), some kind of currency, and a few tickets that said they were for a train. The fact that I was able to read them meant that her planet, like many I’d visited, used Anglian* as its base language.
She looked up. “Do any of you possibly have any food on you? I’m not hungry or anything, just thinking ahead.”
“Sorry, mate, I don’t keep food on me. Wouldn’t wanna attract any animals while I’m out waitin’ for a target.” Sniper told her. He held up his rifle. “But if it comes to it, I can find us some bush tucker** in minutes. Soldier could also probably spot somethin’ worth eatin’ from up there.”
He pointed up at where Soldier was still wheeling around the cave entrance, an Ornithiform-shaped shadow silhouetted against the mist.
“Doesn’t he ever get tired?” I mumbled to myself as I watched him flying around, occasionally swooping down to try and catch some kind of flying creature out of the mist, and then yelling angrily as it escaped him. Eventually three or four of these things came to mob him, and he decided to land.
“I hate those….flapping things! They keep escaping from the talons of Systemic justice!” he snarled.
“I think you’ve done enough protectin’ us, Soldier. I can take over for now.” Sniper advised him.
Soldier flopped down on a ledge deeper in the cave and sulked.
I came over to him and put one hand on his feathery shoulder. “I’m sure you’ll eventually catch one.”
(for context, the things Soldier was trying to catch, I imagine them to be kinda like Minecraft phantoms. You know, the most annoying mob ever?)

As Barnes strode through the garden’s undergrowth and the deep mists, hopefully close enough behind Mel to notice any commotion, the flashlight bobbed along like a will-o’-the-wisp, guiding her. If only there was a dry place to stay, some place to keep consistent light. Barnes did not mind the maze – something about it was frighteningly charming – but no child should run out of sight or out of mind.
The imp’s voice rose from the path ahead. Barnes listened carefully. When she came close enough to see, the girl stood next to a dark hole and was brushing something off her knees. Another child stood next to her, maybe older. They soon ambled away together.
Barnes strode over to the tunnel. She took off her jacket and made a loud show of digging through her pockets and muttering to herself.
From somewhere in the tunnel, the imp scuffled around. His eyes glittered in the darkness.
“I know you’re in there. You seem to know this place well.” Barnes found a drawstring bag. Coins glinted inside. “Can I make a small deal with you?”

The imp paused, then scampered out of his hole, eyes glittering with magpie greed. He made a snatch for the coin purse. Barnes held it out of reach.
He crouched on the ground and eyed her. His foot tapped a couple times on the ground and the tunnel to his burrow disappeared. Then he smiled.
“Oh, I can’t resist the offer of a deal. What do you have in mind?”

When the hole disappeared at the imp’s command, Barnes smiled faintly under her mask. A poker face came in handy. “If those two girls get into trouble, you will open a tunnel for them until the coast is clear. There must always be a way out.”

“Hmm. That’s not a small deal. Not at all. You don’t know what you ask. I must follow only one group of people around wherever they go? How frustratingly dull. How does everyone avoid my net traps? I would have liked that deal much better.”
He fidgeted a moment, wringing his hands and eyeing the bag of coins.
“Human currency is useless to me. I want something more valuable.” He paused.
“How attached are you to that mask?”

June 18, 2025 at 11:21 pm #204090@loopylin Just make it big.
Like, really big.
Three times a human height big would suffice.

June 18, 2025 at 11:49 pm #204092Hrrmmmm. I’m trying to remember what she realistically has.
Barnes
Barnes stiffened. “Quite attached.”
The imp took on a restless expression.
There was only one other thing in Barnes’ jacket besides her lighter, cigarette box, handkerchief, and photo wallet. And none of those other things seemed of use.
Trying not to overthink it, she pulled out a small silver box. It lay snugly in her palm, and had two dials, a button, and a tiny lens. “My smallest camera. A photo fits on a fingernail. I’m not sure how valuable it is to you, but… It should last a long time and contains expensive clockwork.”
