Hm. Well, I hope their trip goes well regardless of the vehicle used.
I don’t know if they would rent another or just stay an extra few days, but hopefully the latter.

“I’m Felicity. And this is a nightmare as far as I’m concerned.”
Felicity nudged some gnome remains on the ground with her foot, noting with some mild confusion that there wasn’t a trace of ink residue. She looked back up at the stranger.
“Where’d you come from? I didn’t see you at the gate with the others.”

After I got a two-inch gash in my side from a piece of gravel, my thoughts in the ER were “Now I know what I do to my charries when I give them injuries to the side.”

The Protector—Gabriel
Gabriel sighed. Not only was Cassius an insanity case, he was apparently also stupid.
“Arnan, if you go off on your own, you will most likely die. I’d like to say that that’s your problem and your responsibility, but that would be going against my creed as Protector. Stay, or I will pronounce Leander as my temporary prince and obey any wish, barring killing or torturing you, that he so desires.”

DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?Prince Leander and Arnan
Arnan stopped in his tracks. He slowly turned around to look at Gabriel. “W-what..?” His mouth was hanging open. “What do you m-mean…?” Arnan had pure shock and fear on his face.
“I-” Leander starred at Gabriel. “I knew you were intense… but- but even I know that’s crossing a line!” Leander went in front of Arnan. “If I became your temporary prince, I’d banish you away from here! Away from us!” Leander shook his head, Arnan’s mouth was still hanging open.
“That-” Arnan stopped. “What did I happen to do…? What measures did I make to secure such a threat?” Arnan took a step back. “If you want to harm Arnan, you’d have to go past me!” Leander yelled. “He may not be my subject, but he still is important! And part of the greater Kingdom!”
Arnan unsheathed his sword, ready to protect himself.
Moral of the story, "always listen to a carrot cake when it screams at you."
Barnes
Barnes looked between the Protector, who carried an undercurrent of scorn, and the screaming Arnan and Leander. She took a step forward between them and studied the lingering ash on her fingers as she spoke. “Leander, this man said he was not going to kill or torture Arnan. On the contrary, he said he wanted to do as you want. I recommend you take a moment to catch your breath. Maybe the labyrinth mist is causing this confusion.”
The group quieted. For a minute, the only sounds were frustrated breathing and frog chirps from somewhere in the thick green.
Barnes stepped back, turning her head to ignore the others. She approached one of the walls and began lightly studying the surface with a hand.
Now and then, she twisted a vine around her finger. The vines clung instinctively to her arm, then back to its central body. The maze walls were, to some degree, responsive.

Gabriel’s emotions threatened to shatter to his usual demeanor. His annoyance with the two of them was mounting. He sighed, a habit he had built to take hold of his emotions. “Listen to Barnes.” He turned to Barnes, having no wish to talk to the others for the moment since they had taken his last attempt completely wrong. Instead, he planned to ask Barnes his questions that he had been holding back. He dropped his voice low. “Why the mask?”

“I’m Felicity. And this is a nightmare as far as I’m concerned.” she said, nudging the dead ceramic creature. I realized it was similar to a garden gnome now that I was able to look at it closely.
She seemed to be looking for something, but when she didn’t find it she simply ignored the murder gnome remains and looked back to me. “Where’d you come from? I didn’t see you at the gate with the others.”
“Others?” I asked. “Who else is here? Is there a very shouty Ornithiform in a red coat? Or perhaps a strange hybrid with wings like a bat and a weird tail?”
The only thing I could think of that’d brought me here was magic, and the only magic I was familiar with belonged to a certain ex-roommate of my team’s old leader. If he was here, I’d have to be extra careful to avoid him, but if Soldier was here, then I’d at least have a friend, a familiar friend, if not a loud and boisterous and possibly angry and vengeful one.
Felicity gave me a really weird look. “…What?”

Barnes backed off from the vines and glanced back at Gabriel, her bangs falling lightly over her mask. “Why do you want to know?”
