At the suggestion of @rochellaine, I downloaded and started reading She by H. Rider Haggard. It’s too early on to tell if it’s good or bad, but I’ll let you know what I think!

http://www.encircledbygrace.com/June 1, 2018 at 6:30 pm #73632@kaya-young *shivers at the realization of what I’ve done* Please forgive me if it isn’t good! I’ve never read it. 😮
At least I’ve read others by him, though. 😀 But do let me know whether it’s good or not. Even though it’s fantasy I might get up the courage to read it sometime. 😉

www.jennaterese.comJune 1, 2018 at 11:26 pm #73634@rochellaine I’ll let you know how it goes, and please know that I don’t hold you accountable if it’s really bad. 🙂
@jenwriter17 Thanks! Yes, it’s fantasy. 🙂I have a question for y’all. Do the Prelandrea books by C.S. Lewis count as fantasy?

www.jennaterese.comJune 2, 2018 at 7:20 pm #73647I think they’re kind of a weird sci-fi fantasy cross so yeah, I think they count.

June 2, 2018 at 11:24 pm #73670@ariel-ashira If by “the movie” you mean the Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland one, then yes. If not, no. 😛 But yes, that’s actually the reason it caught my eye, I had seen the movie and I though, “Wow! I had no idea the movie was based on a book!! Cool!” 😉 So anyway, I have only read a few chapters, but it’s really good so far.
Did you find it yourself?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
June 3, 2018 at 7:48 am #73706@rochellaine Yes, that is the one I was talking about. I have not seen all of the movie, just parts of it. I am already several chapters into Captain Blood. There are several neat movies that star Errol Flynn and Olivia DeHavilland together. Have you seen Robin Hood or Sea Hawk?
"In a mask, was he?"
June 4, 2018 at 11:17 am #73740@ariel-ashira It’s really cool, and kind of unusual, but after watching the movie I don’t dislike the book, and after reading the book I wouldn’t dislike the movie! They both seem equally good to me. In the book, the character development for Peter Blood is really well done, in my opinion. What do you think? Ohhh…wait! They’re discussing fantasy on this topic right now, not historical fiction! 😛 But anyway, I’m really liking the book.
I’ve seen Robin Hood, I don’t recall seeing Sea Hawk. I do remember seeing They Died with Their Boots On, which is a quite historically inaccurate bio of Custer. 😛 Despite my love of historical accuracy, I did like that film. 😉
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
June 4, 2018 at 11:58 am #73743@rochellaine Yeah, when I read the book I can see Errol Flynn’s voice and movements all over the place. And when I see the movie I think of how well he fits how the book describes him. Even though I have never seen all of the movie or read the whole book. 😀 We had better move this conversation elsewhere or we might get thrown off the forum for being off topic. 😉

June 20, 2018 at 8:20 pm #74371@kaya-young Have you gotten very far through She? Do you like it at all, or is it bad and have you stopped reading it by now? 😉
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
July 4, 2018 at 1:13 pm #74727@rochellaine Umm, yeah, I kinda quit reading it. I got halfway through and it was scary and weird… 😉
